Axl is a grumpy old bollix (we all know that) and Corey is telling his fans a story about it.
Moving on..
-
This is about as interesting & relevant as discussing Beyonce's touring guitar player...
The guy has had about as much input

Happy Birthday Beta, please notice me more than the others so I can meet your son Axl.

I saw this band and left early to have a beer.
On stage they are dull compared to the originals.
-
I don't know why the "band" don't get together, write shit with Seb Back or whomever they wish and get their own album out.
Quit waiting for Ax.

Very interesting. Funny how he talks about writing songs as a band, not being too precious, doing things organically. Richard since day 1 is a side musician for Axl. GNR is one of his jobs. GNR is not a real band, it's Axl's solo project.
Don't know if anything too drastic will happen, but I sure would love that. Including Ron and Tommy leaving. Axl needs a wake up call. Fernando surely isn't they guy to do that neiher is Del James.
You're not a fan of new Guns so of course you'd want key members of the band to leave so it falls apart.
Dont be overly dramatic, a pro-guitar player will pick up where Richard left off in about two weeks of rehearsal, less most likely.
This is the kind of band Axl wants. If it falls apart because people he ignores creatively get fed up then that's his funeral not Richard's.
Judging by your posts, you're not a fan of new Gn'R either. I like Richard, I don't want him to leave. I think he's an important part of the live shows, and has the potential to be a big part of the next album if Axl will ever give him the chance to contribute.
Only in this forum will you find people that label it "overly dramatic" when talking about people that are in the band for more then 10 years.
Axl may be the most important member or some will say the only one, but it's a natural thing for fans to get attached to members of the band that did so many live shows with Axl and been with the band since 2002.
I was addressing your dramatic assertion about the band falling apart . It won't....why? Richard is completely replacable that's why.
Why is he? Because Axl has designed it so.
My opinion of Richard or the band is irrelevant in this case. You're mixing up your personal feelings for Richard with the business of GNR playing live.
The band won't fall apart if he goes.
And my feelings are not some abberation on this forum either, most of planet Earth could give two shits who plays one of three guitars in GNR these days.
You are very much in a small minority.
I think Richard is an awesome player with a great image and super stage presence but sadly for him, he is a completely and seamlessly replaceble part of the GNR live backing track and nothing more.
He should be alot more but hey it ain't my band.

People should just relax when their God is slated. All of our Gods (including God himself) get hammered with all sorts of hate every day in internet land. Its an equal opportunities hate fest,.
There are a lot of unhappy people out there who have never had a chance to air an opinion..until the internet came along.
No biggie.

I I think the current band has had some pretty bad set backs in the past couple of years from a luke-warm reception to the new album, moderate sales to the poor quality filmed shows that got media attention...
Tom, that's called "being shit".
-
By the end of CD Axl sounds to me like a lonely Tom Cat caterwauling at the moon.
Its a depressing album to take on all at once.
Its aurally overwhelming at almost every second.
There is gold down there, but my ears gave up trying to filter out all of the "look how clever I am".
-
Reorganising the songs on CD for more impact is like reorganising the corn in a turd.
Its still a turd no matter what way those corns peep out.
14 songs for $13M in 15 years...
That's almost $929 GRAND and 391 days of work to deliver "Scrapped" alone.
Patience was written by the old band in ONE NIGHT.
That is all.
-
Axl could play something new in SA but that could be deep cuts from CD.
YAWN

Silkworms in Vegas?
NEVER.
Vegas shows are not the platform to play your hopelessly dated Prodigy rip offs.
People go to Vegas for shows like Elton, Britney and the Circus....and now to suok up live version SWOM and PC etc while drinking a few cold ones in your kaki shorts. Not to indulge in sonic experiments.
NO NO NO
Axl's record of risk taking lately is somewhere around zero so..
I could imagine the more likely scenario will be old UYI staples like :
- 14 years with Izzy guesting.
- Pretty Tied Up
- Bad Obsession with Zig Zag back from history to play blues harp.
-
Silkworms could possibly be one of those 3 new songs they are meant to play my guess OMG, Silkworms and Going Down
Can't believe this band moves at such a slow pace that two of these tunes are "new"
-
My feeling is that Axl is trapped.
He wants to get his music out but he feels he must have the labels pony up huge money to give CD II a massive push.
BUT with his poor relationship management history, terrible management and their own poor business acumen, a faceless band, poor personal image and a worn out Greatest Hits tour...he just isn't worth the risk any more. I bet they told him so too.
Axl took a look at all of the above and knows the only way back to the big time is to reunite the old band and ditch TB in favour of mainstream representation. It also means doing as you're told and being part of a team rather than the centre of the universe. After 20 years of being spoilt and indulged and hidden from so much by those around him, that all probably seems to unpalatable to a man his age.
Dirtching TB means he goes home to an empty house, So faced with such an epic climbdown and a life alone without his (paypal) family, he's decided that he cannot move forward and realise the destiny he wanted for GNR.
So what's left? I think rather than go all artsy and put a gun in his mouth, he's decided to relax, drink & eat lots, chill, get wasted and write about giraffes and dial in the hits to eternally forgiving and fun loving South Americans .
And blame and hate Slash for all of it, 24/7, until he dies.
-
I think he can't be bothered.
There's no money in it anymore and its easier to dial in the hits and get big chunks of money rather than go out on the less lucrative "sell the new music" route.
Pittman summed up (what i am sure was) the Camp Axl position a couple of years back.
Axl is the classic case of be careful what you wish for.
-
Axl should have kept the GNR day job and released his own cinematic tunes himself.
He could have had the best of both worlds but he was greedy and wanted it all.
He got it all and.....
-
There's a good tune or two down there underneath the soundtracks of Axl's various personality ticks but most times they choke the life out of the songs.
MUSE craft "bombast and epic" properly because they are not mentally troubled recluses.
You can see where Axl was trying to go but ultimately CD is the sound of a man suffering from extreme OCD, crashing meglomania & self-doubt peppered with a massive helping of paranoia, left to his own devices in a world where nobody said "no".
-
I doubt Duff is going to bother learning the CD tunes.
He said already his presence in GNR is a distraction for all concerned.
Some fool above was shouting about him playing with GNR again, yeah as the fucking backing band....Big Difference.
Both men can be around each other but Duff no longer feels on stage as GNR.
Ax will use someone else other than Duff, the world is full of bass players well capable of filling in at a moments notice.
-
Please, please, PLEASE master it well. I've no doubts the music's gonna be great, but don't brickwall it like AL. Slash was a better album on that point.
AMEN TO THAT! The AL mix is so oddly sterile for an almost live album.
-
Man I miss this guy....
-
Why are people giving shit to the lady who posted her pic with Slash and Duff in the thread? To 99% of people not on this forum they are Gn'R (well at least Slash) Should she be expected to know who Frank Ferrer and Richard Fortus are?
Because people on this forum will give shit to anybody anywhere for any reason whatsoever. Duh.
the devil makes work for idle hands...

Fuck off, I disagree. There seems to be a lot of pretty smart people here blowing a gasket over fuck all.
Forums need the full spectrum of opinion.. Axlamic Fundamentalists on one end...down through to the nuGNR haters on the other end.
Here there are a few nutters who would eat Axl's fecal matter and they're fucking boring because to them this is all about being so serious, pious and semi-religious.
The other end (where I pretty much live) gets boring too as Axl can't seem to bring up the standards of his career no matter how much we compalin and point out the level of amateur bullshit that has consumed this once great band.
So...what's left...?
SOME FUCKING NEW MUSIC WOULD BE GREAT.
Even if its to complain about or masturbate to, whichever end of the specturm you're on.
I think on that point we can all agree...
Ha Ha! You are bored today DS..
