  1. Russ, this was all over GNREvo, it came with a creepy pic of Goldstein in a t-shirt meant for a 17 year old frat boy, he's hugging Beta.

He basically snivels to Axl that he loves him and that he is the man to lead him to highs never reached.

Thank God Axl saw through it and didn't even reply.

  2. Can you imagine how many people would have been asking the guys in GNR back then for money?

Sure, theyre rich-they should just give all their cash away.

Sure, hand over cash to the coke fiend...fuck that, keep the money and buy more coke for yourself with it!

"Ï didn't know I had to pay tax" is a bit daft, wouldn't you say?

    Exactly!

Has anyone here ever expected someone to bail them out like that before? I'm guessing not.

  3. There are a few loopers down the far end of the Axl spectrum here that make me laugh. The madness!!

Look at all the other people in different roles who have willingly exited Axl's life over the years: guitar players, drummers, managers, partners...etc

    The pattern is undeniable.

Axl now lives with people he keeps on his payroll while Slash & Duff are happily married with kids.

    Go figure.

  4. "Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists’ contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll."

While the album itself may not have been as big as it could have been, the Chinese democracy era was a huge part of rock folklore, and will always be a huge part of GnR's legacy. I think Tommy Stinson deserved to be inducted, since he was the constant in the band for that entire debacle and has put more time into the band than Duff, Slash or Izzy did.

What you are stating is all very local to GNR and not what the RNRHOF holds as criteria for nomination. CD was a huge part of rock folklore but failed to sell like AFD etc and is not hugely regarded by the general public. Your point about Tommy while true, would be of absolutely no interest to the vast majority of the music world and especially the RNRHOF. The man got a nice job and has done it well - not sure how that warrants a place in a Hall of Fame.

  5. Slash is rich and ack being successful. Hs gigs are getting as big as GNRs in some territories, he is playing better than ever, he's sober, healthy, happily married with two nice kids who he enjoys being a Dad too. Now he's into films...he won't answer Axl questions..so..

    Is he bothered with Axl?

Would you be with all that good stuff in your life?

  6. I saw the original band twice and I have never been able to forget the experience. No band has come close since, U2 almost did for me.

I just find it so nutty that people would boycott the original band in favor of a cabaret band.

I mean who ever does anything thinking "I want the second best experience I ever had tonight".

  7. There are a few things to consider here. First, the guys concept of time belongs in a different realm of physics than the rest of us. UYI vocals took a year to record and the guy was sleeping in the studio in a camp bed.

Second, he may be terrified of the sophomore slump that could hit CD II, this is entirely possible as the mystery around his music has faded from the public imagination. CD I like VR I was a solid effort but did not live up to the hype. Having followed and studied the man for over twenty years now, I'm believing that he cannot face the ridicule he imagines Slash and all of his other listed enemies will be heaping upon him in industry circles if CD II stiffed badly, got panned and fell out of the charts....no matter what he nor his followers say.

I just wish Axl would write and release a solo album and head out on a solo tour like Chris Cornell and just lap up the adoration of his hardcores. He's quite the conversationalist when he gets going so the in between songs parts could be great. he could travel light, no entourage, no bullshit. I think it would do the man the world of good. Sadly Axl seems to know nothing else except massive and pressurized dysfunction, I'd swear he gets off on it. He seems hard wired into the MORE AND BIGGER modes for GNR which I think has burned him out pursuing.

Drop the GNR name, write an album in a wood somewhere in two weeks, mix it on an eight track, release on your own label and head out to small venues to play it. it could be the purge he needs.

  8. I still find it hard to believe that "Fans" of GNR wouldn't want to see the old lineup make friends, bury the hatched and write an album together.

Seriously, what have you seen or heard since 1993 that has led you to strive for a better outcome than that?

I think some of you are like Axl - painted into a corner and too proud to admit you backed the wrong pony.

  9. The reunion ain't happening unless Axl is homeless, that's for sure.

I think people ought to stop hating on anyone who was in GNR. Each man did what they thought was the best thing to do at the time. We forget sometimes that some were in their twenties and struggling to cope with massive fame and adulation plus all the unwanted attention that comes with it.

Axl has some sort of Obsessive / Compulsive thing going on and the worst thing for that are the presence of yes men. They just re-enforce the condition, despite what may even be best intentions (although I wonder with TB, hard not to be contaminated being so near all of that $$$$$$$).

Find me any star that did well with yes men as their crew... most get fucked in the end.

Sadly, I'm mostly around to see if and where this train derails...

  10. What an absurd conversation. Come on, guys. Just go for broke and argue that Slash shouldn't have been inducted. You know you want to.

    HA!HA!

Hilarous how the Axlamic Fundamentalists love Izzy again when the guy actually BLASTED Axl out of it in the press several times back in the day. Never hear about that from some people.

Slash gets the hate because he wouldn't go away. The public wanted him around and he stuck around. Axl imagined he'd never cope without him, but he did.

  11. Groghan you're one of the weirdest people I've come across online. I am by far no Axl sympathizer but I understand how they feel more than how you feel. You come here pretty well every day and almost all your posts are serious about how you think the people who worship Axl are wrong and weird. Why do you care so very much how they feel? I don't get it. Are you jealous? Do you really think these people are so awful you need to post about these posters constantly? You're weird. You're wrong.

This is what makes a forum interesting....people from each end of the spectrum and all places in between throwing their piece in and seeing what gets written in return.

If Groghan is polite then what's the problem?

People should be capable of defending thier opinion.

Why post in a forum if you cannot stand being challenged?

  12. Maybe he realises that Team Brazil are not the ones to take him back to the top.

They have told him they will exit his life if he gets another manager.

    So what choices has he?

New management, new career, new album via a possible reunion (if managed correctly not impossible) or kick ass effort with the current lineup, try to claw back to where the likes on Bon Jovi are i.e. big grass roots following, releasing albums to limited interest and acclaim, playing stadiums.

    BUT being totally alone

    OR

hanging with TB, his adopted family, dialling in tours and enjoying the finer things in life.

When you are 51, delicate and a little agrophobic and terrified of failure and ridicule ...which one would you take?

  13. We will never know the real story until Axl releases his autobiography.

Until then all this is merely speculation / bullshit.

    mmmmm No, actually.

There are several key industry professionals who gave their opinions and recollections here.

Speculation/ Bullshit is what people like you and I go on with in these forums.

I think you need to face up to the fact that when it comes to music, Axl isn't the second coming of Jesus.

He tried hard to replace the old band and he failed.

Ok lets say you are right...the 1996 version of GNR was not going to release anything better. It would have been redundant and dated at that time.

I'm neither right nor wring, just saying that these are industry people with reputations to protect. I doubt they would say what they did without considered thought.

  14. REAL Guns n' Roses was great. Every sane fan miss those good old days too.

    Get over yourself.

    it's just a rock n roll band.

so why the 10,000 posts defending Axl's every move?

No harm in liking "new" anything but some of your other examples are poorly chosen. If Metallica was just James they could be included. The other bands are better examples but look at their respectove trajectory since the lead singer exerted his ultimate authority..
