  1. Who's the guy in the middle sitting down?

That's Matthew Fox, the guy who plays Jack on the TV show Lost.

dude, you stole my joke! i said it first!!! :P

whoever suggested that Trent may have been making an appearance on the album -- NICE IDEA!!! that would rock... i know there've been a few ballady style ones already, but imagine a cross between something like Hurt and Don't Cry would be friggin awesome.

  2. First things first - I REALLY LIKE THESE SONGS/CLIPS.... and i think that they have to potential to be big successes, but I think people are really bigging them up too much... to say that these songs are better than GnR classics like Estranged and NR is a little bit over zealous... nothing really sticks out from these tunes in the same way that the old tunes had big hooks. There's the odd moment here and there, and i must reiterate that i think these songs are good and i like them... so here comes my point...

I think people have already persuaded themselves that they're gonna like these songs no matter what, kinda like they'd be cheating themselves if they'd waited this long and then not found it to their liking. People are so afraid that Axl won't deliver, that they percieve everything that we hear as being a piece of musical genious purely to avoid disappointment.

Now again I must say that I like what I've heard from these leaks, but I see a lot of people saying that these songs are gonna/have already blown away what we've heard on AFD/UYI I+II/Lies etc and I can only see this as a defence mechanism to hold off the disappointment that this album might not be all they've built it up to be.

I sincerely hope that I'm wrong and that the fully finished songs and rest of the album have that killer bite to them the GNR and Axl are famous for, but I think people are championing these songs a little too much IMO.

I don't want to start a shit storm, but I feel a serious flaming coming on, although I think a lot of people here will agree with me.

And please don't reply with the lame ass emoticons and 'Fuck you's that we're seeing so much of at the moment. Proper constructive arguements please, I've not called people names and been rude in this post, so I see no reason for people to do so in their replies. I hope this proves to be a well debated topic.

  3. well i heard from an INCREDIBLY reliable source who cannot be named for legal reasons, that Jim Morrison leaked the tracks, and that there are guest spots on the album from Elvis, Jimi Hendrix and backing vox from Kurt Cobain.

    AND THATS THE TRUTH!!!!

    You left out John Lennon.

Ah yes, he's the latest producer by all accounts.....

and JFK is i/c marketing and spin.

 But you didn't hear it here!!! :drevil:

  4. yeah, i'd say i'm satisfied... TBH, i'm not entirely sure why people had doubted the quality of this album if people like BRIAN MAY have given it serious thumbs up?? he's no slouch of a musician and has written/co-written some of the biggest sing-along tunes ever...

  5. i'll probably get hunted down for saying this.... but here goes....

first thing i have to say, I LOVE TWAT, but the first 2 mins or so really remind me of Robbie Williams...

*Takes cover before a 'Reading Festival toilet block' amount of shit gets thrown my way...*

  6. I am not downloading TWAT

yes i downloaded IRS...and better clip...but now...things went out of control

thinking about it seriously i realize that this "leakin" is just harmfull for guns n roses and for us...just harms axl and bandmates and i am not downloading TWAT (it doesnt matter how much i wud love to hear it, respect is first, respect ur idols, u are killin them with this).

Now didn't Axl wear a 'Kill Your Idols' t-shirts... i think he wants us to hear these tracks!!! j/k :P

  7. 3.Axl stated that he "loves" slash and has spoken with Izzy.... I can't recall the last time he said something like that publicly where he know's Slash will hear it... maybe Slash will act on hearing that and give Axl a call or something along those lines.

Do any of you think that this may be a response to what nice things Slash said recently re: Axl, and that Axl was maybe waiting for Slash to make the first move in perhaps trying to rebuild relations between him and the other ex-Gunners? I mean I can't realistically see a reunion any time soon what with VR still going strong and Axl with a whole vault of material to release with the new guys, but it does certainly look encouraging to see them being civil to each other, albeit through the press.

  8. Axl wasn't Catholic, he was Pentacostal. Pentacostals are WAY different.

Ooooooh, yet another da Vinci Code connection..! PENTAcostal... Pentangles, five pointed stars etc... almost seems TOO perfect.... :o

Disclaimer: This is a joke before some of you start spinning even larger conspiracy theories... althought it is quite a funny coincidence, no?!

    rock1

Whats the conspiracy theory dude? I'm putting some facts together here for some fun.

Don't you see a connection at all? I mean Madagascar.. does it have any religious lyrics? None that i can find. So whats with the religious videos?

A question i'd like the answer too as it could show that Axl has had a long involvement in the Da Vinci code movie or book in some shape or form. I dont know, maybe the person that did the video parts at concerts is religious or something.. but to my knowledge Axl approves everything GNR these days. Except the Greatest hits i guess :rofl-lol:

I was just pointing out that it's quite amusing that Axl being associated with DVC and then someone saying that he's a Pentacostal... don't know if you've read DVC (if not, do, it's a really good read) but the Knights Templar or the Priory of the Sion hold special Pentangles and 5 pointed stars etc... penta obviously meaning 5, i thought this was a funny coincidence, i just didn't want people suddenly thinking "Maybe Axl co-wrote the book with Dan Brown..." or shit like that..

Going back to your Q about the vids from 2002 tour - was the book out then or not?

    Peace dude.

  10. i actually met these guys at Reading festival 2004... quite a funny story in fact... it was saturday morning, and as we were all monging out in our (VIP) campsite just having a joint to get our heads straight, at least 3 band members of Towers of London emerged from the tent of a friend of ours (she's an absolute whore) over the course of the morning!! quite nice guys, i was chatting to the singer Donny for a bit, and the other guys seemed fairly sound. we'd never heard of them before, but a couple of months later my mate rings me up and they're on Kerrang! TV...

back to the point..... i think he may actually have a track... i mean, wouldn't they be the kind of band that you'd want to open for GNR rather than Mix Master Mike? i'm not their biggest fan but it's a step in the right direction wouldn't you say? maybe 'some guy' was Axl....?

  11. Just wondering what everyone's opinions of the line up for this year is and if anyone's going???

Some really good acts so far such as Foo Fighters, Maiden and Marilyn Manson should be a wicked performance, and there's always fun to be had at the Radio 1 Tent, like chucking bottles and shit at Pete Doherty and his awful excuse for a band; Babyshambles...

    So who's going?

  12. I own a Dunlop Cry Baby and I must say, it does sap a bit of the tone out of the sound when on overdrive. Having said that, the lead guitarist in my band who knows a lot more about this kinda thing than me says that there is a very simple bit of home engineering that can be done to maximise the sound you get out of it and make it sound fucking bad! It's just a couple of bits of soldering apparently...?? Anyone knowledgeable about this procedure?

  13. Just wondering if anyone on here is a fan of Extreme at all? Fuckin' awesome guitaring from Nuno Bettencourt, although the whole sound and production of the band is very 80s... but maybe that's why I like them!!

Anyone who's not heard of them check out the 1990 album Pornographitti, especially the songs Decadence Dance and He Man Woman Hater for some riffage and insane solos...

  14. yeah, I was at Docklands... ROCKED MY WORLD!!!! Best concert I've ever been to.... well I'm torn between that and this other gig I went to in London last Thursday... some chap wearing a top hat that was fairly average at guitar, and a singer from some grunge band or something.... meh  . They rocked as well...

  15. yeah, I'm going with the rest of my band (there's 4 of us). I've never actually been to the apollo before, what is the capacity? I think I'm in the Red Block somewhere. Is that gonna be really far from the stage, or is it a small venue? I remember seeing GNR at Docklands in 2002 and although I thought I was gonna be miles away, I actually had a great view from the back of the floor seats if you know what i mean...

  16. yeah man, i got seated for London too. Fucking typical, I go on holiday for a week after my A Levels to Tenerife, and the day I go, they announce the concerts and I only found out when I got back yesterday.

BUT AT LEAST I GOT MY TICKETS AND I'M GONNA SEE SLASH 'N' DUFF 'N' MATT!!! and Scott and Dave!!!
