Axl is now fifty five years old. How long do you think they can put this off? Until they're sixty? How good of a record can they make at sixty years of age? Even if it IS good, will it have any aggression at all?
I don't think they can afford to wait personally. It may already be too late for them to release something that sounds like GNR.axls vox for all of chinese was done 7 or 8 years prior. how did you find them in 2008 when you listened? did you like them?

Totally subjective & this is a guns forum so.....
Motley had some good hits but they still lacked something that kept them from being a Tier 1 type band. Motley Crue is like a high Tier 2 imo.
they lacked the diversity in material that guns had

WOW AXL. Blown away right now

This band is an emotional roller coaster, just when your ready to jump off you find yourself being pulled back up again.

was axls voice shot because he was in Vancouver recording tracks with angus ? or just because he is a lazy ass and has no time to prepare ?
oh wow!? being a die hard living in vancouver i had no clue...was there ever anything posted about that?

I was at the show in 1993 when axl and slash were last in vancouver together..had the shirt on from that night last night. As a lifelong fan and a reader here since the dark days and an active watcher of of most of the NITL tour, all i have to say is last nights show far exceeded my expectations. Yes we got a few little surprises which was a real treat, but this band last night was incredible. Ive seen a lot of shows, but axls voice filling the arena is something i will never forget. Some may not like his voice or choices he makes on how to use it but what i was watching was a generational frontman and i for one feel privileged to have witnessed what i did last night for over 3 hours. And yes it is the fanboy in me, but man it was great to see him smiling the entire show

Jovi had a 1 off show last night. Guess what all the fans are bitching about- "his voice is shot". SOS. Our "heroes" are aging. I saw Jovi twice last spring and had a blast. It is what it is. Enjoy our bands while we got em.

I'm not defending Axl, I'm criticizing the view of forum member I'm responding to, I didn't say anything in support of Axl. I will do soon though... so keep your eyes peeled.
I don't really have any interest in what Will Smith or Stallone do or don't do, it's a shitty analogy, as neither is performing their films live on stage. It doesn't make any sense. Maybe sports would have worked for ya?
Axl doesn't rehearse, big deal? I wouldn't rehearse songs I'd sang 20 thousand times either. Axl should do whatever Axl wants to do, he's not letting anyone down, no one is leaving these shows disappointed with what he's bringing and on stage he shits all over Bono and Bruce Springsteen.

It has NOTHING to do with practicing specific songs or any of that. the vocal chords are a muscle like any other in your body. he needs to exercise them to maintain them. its as simple as that. can we move on?

The SA tour and this current year were painful to watch. It's not just Axl the whole thing lost his momentum. Without a few guests here and there there's not a lot excitement going on and the performances are less than stellar.
stop watching every show on periscope then my man

It is amazing and otherworldly that Axl has been able to accomplish
what he has all these years. He doesn't just stand their and sing. He's running around for 3+ hours. Think about that for a second. I've been signing all my life. I was lucky to have an amazing and inspiring vocal coach in my teens. A lot goes into singing. It's not the same as singing to a record. Being able to read music helps but not a necessity if you have a really good ear for pitch and notes. Then you have to exercise your diaphragm and vocal cords which are like any other muscle. You have to stretch them out. That's why you do vocal exercises. It's like stretching. You keep going higher and lower. Next thing you know you have incredible range. I'm willing to bet Axl is the amazing singer he is because he learned these things at a young age singing with the choir in church and school.
You learn that the correct way to sing is from the gut(diaphragm) which is how you sustain notes for a long time. Don't Cry, Estranged, SCOM etc. Everyone can try this, you take a deep breathe and you gut tightens while simultaneously lifting your soft pallet(roof of your mouth). This helped me, pretend you stuck a whole orange in your mouth. As you can see a lot more goes into singing than people realize . You need different parts of your body to working together to really maximize the potential of your vocal chords.
Also like the rest of the muscles in your body, it's use it or lose it. That's why Axl is at his worse after a long layoff and sometimes years of inactivity. When Axl has his vocal coach he is really good and doesn't miss a beat when he doesn't like in 2001-2002 he is almost unrecognizable. Being in shape physically also helps especially since he's running around the stage for 3hrs at 55.
Axl's talent is truly amazing if you really think about it. It defies logic
loved reading your post. unless you actually do it you have no ideA!

I am 41 now and live in Vancouver..but in 95 I travelled to Australia and in Sydney there is a district called Kings cross and went into an arcade and saw it and played it all night! I have a pic of me at the machine too which is pretty cool. man I had skinny arms back then!

for alot of us, Guns was the biggest band in the world while we were watching it unfold in real time and then to have them just vanish into history is unique. the rest of the world is just re discovering what us on this site have always known.
