and we do realize that we are among the very few people in the world who actually notices this right?
-
you are absolutely right in every way, he is a part of all those songs and always will be...just take it to another part of the forum that's all. he hasn't been in the band for HOW long?
-
this does have nothin to do with this section. I've loved the band since 1988 and tell everyone that izzy was the key to a lot of what made guns tracks amazing but c'mon MAN, its been more than 14 years of silence...dude aint a part of gnr for a loooong time...time to let it go

Stinson is on point on Axl. That almost deserves a thread of it's own, Axl is a changed man. SOMETHING has happened to him in either 2014 or 2015. What that was? It was big enough to have him pick up the phone and call Slash. I hope what it was wont forever remain a mystery. But my money is that Duff had to do with it
no one knows but i swear i just cant get my head around anything else so drastic other than he was sick for a time...the loss of vocal ability, no power, the weight gain and looking ROUGH. one thing we know is the guy never talks, so if he WAS actually sick that would never leave the vault either

FUCK I WANT THAT

Different tastes for all with the live setting and what they like...but with slash being light years ahead as a lead and axl sounding incredible, I am sure we have both seen all the live gigs from the old era..i am just curious why you prefer their sound then over what is happening now? Not being a dick at all..just legitimately curious

Yah, it is really really boring to wait 23 years to see your favorite rock icons come back and play a couple of dozen shows. It even sucks more that they come back and they have the nerve to even sound better than they did in 92-93, god damn assholes. And I really hate how much fun they are clearly having. I hate checking in to see the videos from each show and being shocked at how good axl sounds after we all feared his career was over in 2012-2013. I hate seeing how much more talented slash is at his trade. And on top of it all, they actually have the nerve to playa handful of songs from Chinese, I mean really?? Who do they think they are anyways?? And lastly, it is so boring to see them do what everyone has spent decades complaining about and show up to play to a crowd on time. I should really just give up being a gnr fan this just sucks man. don't you agree?

considering we realy don't know much, I would put my money on your best guess Ronin

part of what made GNR live as good as they were in their day was axl running around and we all already know that.. and i know many may think I am crazy but I swear to god him wearing cowboy boots on stage in 2011-2012 helped kill part of that live vibe!

No No No NOoooo! I just went a significant period of time without the thought of that douchebag running through my head

i didnt think it was many more than what we are getting now. I think it is pretty cool they are doing the ones they are

I wonder if Lars was at the show.
Other than them both playing festivals and maybe some rich bastard throwing money at them to play a private gig, you'll never see a coheadlining tour happen.
After NITL, I'll be surprised if they ever play stadiums.
why wopuld you be surprised to see them ever play stadiums again?

appreciate that! we are putting out our own brand of rock n roll. I am the only one in the band that is a fan of gnr...but the others have no idea a lot of song structure ideas we are developing are based on some of the song writing from the illusion albums!
-
ahhh! My apologies! I did think that and I do apologize for the assumption! I am also a vocalist and in the middle of recording a demo album to shop to producers so I may be a tad sensitive to the topic!

I am solo. I am currently animating (literally right now) a fully-orchestrated rock opera that is fully written and recorded (excepting a couple of vocal parts), which my producers will work on selling when it's complete. I've not done anything of note pop-culturally excepting a couple of very close brushes with success in the form of being managed for a short while by the guy who broke Meatloaf's career in the "Bat Out of Hell" days (he also manages/managed The Fugees, Black Eyed Peas, Joan Osbourn, Space Hog, and a ton of others), and, more interestingly to this forum, I was auditioned to sing for Velvet Revolver a good while before it actually became VR and which, at the time, at least according to one of the phone conversations I had with Duff at the time (which little did he know I was jumping up and down like a little school girl while talking to him because... well... huge fan!), included Izzy (he wrote and recorded the 3 songs I got to write with them as part of the audition).
So.... a couple of brushes, but so far I've been quite impressively unsuccessful! But, hey, that's life!Love how you answered that question man...don't think that was what he was expecting to get back form ya

Has rock really stooped that low that an old fart 'hits' tour would be the only method to revive it?
Rock has not STOOPED that low man. Music is like many other industries, everything goes in cycles and rtock n roll is in that stage where it is starting to come back. An old fart hits tour that plays CHIDEm songs that everyone bitches about says this isn't a hits tour
-
they really are good rock n roll...to me alot of their stuff has aged pretty well. Astbury has got an incredible voice but sounds like he cant push as he once did but not knocking him in the least!!

i have been following these shows pretty close and loving every minute of it. I have been waiting since i was 18 to see this happen again and i will be fucking grateful for every single same set list show i watch all summer long that i can. Does anyone else think this is Axls best vocal night so far? he is on fire

Not really, Melissa hasn't contributed the towel dance yet
oh really?? Yikes, my bad on that...but still, you know she is contributing parts for sure...even if she is just playing chords on the synth in some songs it is adding to the full sound that is guns n roses. If you go back to 1991/2/3 clips there are alot of times where the songs ( although still amazing ) sounded thin or empty in spaces

wow our boys are bad ass again and i fuckin love it. for all the years of being bashed for still being loyal to gnr in what ever form it was it is odd that it feels like revenge without even saying a word! ok, i might be weirder than i thought lol
