  1. Just for the record:  People who blindly hate rap are ignorant!!!!!!!!!!!!  No questions asked.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

i've evaluated all rap, and it all sucks ass (not to say it can't be catchy) .clearly it takes more talent to sing than to speak. more talent = better music. there's no denying it.

rap is just a novelty record run amuck, it all sounds the goddamn same, the only difference is they stole the background from different places. (generally speaking, of course)

in closing, rappers without their djs are awful to listen to

but a singer without his/her band doesn't have to be

have you ever heard an ocapella rap?

    didn't think so

  2. i'd like to give you lyrics, but i can't remember any.

anyhow, the songs verse is basically the same as man in the box by AIC (guitar wise) only sped up a bit. the singer sounds exactly like layne, but it's not AIC (i don't think),

do you know what i'm talking about?

could the band be mad season?

"come and see me" might be some lyrics if i remember correctly

  3. That guy is a legend

Damn, he would rock in Gn'R, not only can he shred, but he also has an awesome blue style too, and damn can he sing!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    how do i see/listen to it?? :(

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    um, try downloading it!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

  5. Everyone here has missed the point. If you evaluate how hard / or good a solo is by how hard it is to physically play, than drop guitar right now, and get a day job.

Slash doesnt need speed, its all about emotion. I wish i could play with half the emotion slash plays. Most guitarists will play uber fast the whole time, to try and compensate for the emotion they dont have... If you can play slashs solo's with emotion, than you have nailed them. And by emotion i mean, add your own licks, put your own stamp on it....

I hate to sound corny, but i think knocking on heavens door solo(especially live) is a trillion times better than master of puppets(kirks solo)... Just because its much slower, and that whole solo captures the emotions of the song. Where kirk's solo sounds like a group of bee's near a bee hive :|

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

that's true for ballads, but not for rockers. take dimebag for instance- i mean, would you prefer some bluesy, emotionally driven, jazzy melodic solo for "fucking hostile"? hell no, sometimes shredding is exactly what the doctor ordered.

let's be honest, when shit's hard to play, it usually sounds good. (except kirk hammett and sometimes buckethead) i'll take any ron thal solo over a slash or gilmour solo anyday. emotional playing at superhuman speeds sounds better than emotional playing alone. (like i said, for rockers, not ballads)

  6. Slash isn't a very good guitarist. he was good back in his day but he should rest his guitar and leave it to Hammett  to show the world whats happening.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

hammett sucks ass, not a single solo on st. anger. hetfield always was the band. and slash blows them both away.

as much as i'm dissapointed with contraband, you can't tell me st. anger has better guitar.

i'd like to hear mr. johnezz play the bad apples solo.
Right after i build my new guitar smile.gif

    still waiting...

  7. for me it has to be:

    Mike McCready - Pearl Jam

Tom Morello - Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave

    Joe Walsh - James Gang

    Neal Schon - Journey

    Gary Rossington - Lynyrd Skynyrd

    Chris Poland - Megadeath

    Mick Mars - Motley Crue

    John Frusciante - RHCP

    somewhat Brian May - Queen

    Tom Petty

    Billy Gibbons - ZZ Top

    these guys deserve more cred

    your thoughts?

post your list as well, or just post any you think deserve kudos

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

those guys aren't underrated, they're all very well known, albeit they were more popular in their hayday.

ron thal is the most underrated guitarist in the world, bar none.

  8. right well ive knocked together a couple of 16 track recordings for you to listen to of my band Contrafiction. its dark pop catchy melodic rock, coz believe it or not we want to actually get somewhere, so ive called it quits with my 80's thrash style band SECA. see what you think, we were previously called Marlowe and have gigged all around. though right now we need a new drummer.

    Likely View

    Only if You

    hopefully ive done that right

thanks, check out the one that's up now, i edited it and tuned it better

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

dude...calm down...It's the blues...try to get the notes right instead of cramming as many of those fast licks you've been working soo hard to learn in there...honestly...the whole thing still just sounds off...

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

ok, i'll make sure to be out of tune from now on, jeez.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

excuse me for the constructive critisism...

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

ok, sorry for being a dick. :)

we should do shit like this more often, cause the musicians subforum isn't really that interesting usually. and i need criticism from someone other than my girlfriend. she hates me so fucking bad, guess what she thinks of my playing!

    f0rsakens gonna blow us away

  12. I think that was just a little impromptu jam session, and that the solo doesn't have an official name.

Thanks for that video! I totally forgot how fucking bad-ass Eddie is!! And George Costanza can really wail on the key-tar as well!!  rock1

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
