I've never really cared this band, but since I thought I might as well check out some new bands (for me) now while I already were downloading movies and shit. So as the title says, I don't know which album to start with. Some help?

EDIT: The title was supposed to be R.E.M., I've decided to start listen to them. Which album shall I start with?

I don't know if there's a correct answer to your question

I got into them late in their career and re-discovered their old stuff afterwards.... It's all great and they are just a fantastic band

Personally, I like Out of Time quite a bit right now - you may want to start from the beginning and work your way up though......there's a lot to absorb

Great. Will start with Murmur then.

While we are already on it, have you got any other good tips of good music to give? From other great bands that might have past me by?

Not really anything particulare. Anything I don't listen to right know that I might find good. I've never liked todays pop or techno though.

Alright. ;) Here's a mix of albums and artists I consider essential and albums and artists I've listened a lot to lately (just ignore the ones you've already heard):

Blondie - Parellel Lines and Eat to the Beat

Television - Marquee Moon

Miles Davis - Bitches Brew, Kind of Blue and Sketches of Spain

The Replacements - Let it Be

Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

Brian Wilson - Smile

The Zombies - Oddyssey and Oracle

Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation and Sister

Radiohead - The Bends, OK Computer and Pablo Honey

Elvis Costello - My Aim is True and This Year's Model

Neil Young - After the Gold Rush, Harvest and Live at Massey Hall

Röyksopp - Melody A.M.

Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash

Marvin Gaye - What's Goin' On and Let's Get it On

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint

Mad Season - Above

Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Chuck Berry - The Great Twenty-Eight

Mother Love Bone - Apple

Sly & the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On, Stand! and Fresh

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain and One Nation Under a Groove

Parliament - Mothership Connection

Pixies - Surfer Rosa and Doolittle

Massive Attack - Blue Lines

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and Fear of a Black Planet

Derek and the Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs

T. Rex - Electric Warrior and The Slider

Patti Smith - Horses

The Patti Smith Group - Easter

The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy

Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life

David Bowie - "Heroes", The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Pin-Ups, Aladdinsane, Hunky Dory and Diamond Dogs

Sam Cooke - The Man and His Music

Otis Redding - Otis Blue and The Dock of the Bay

The Clash - All albums except Cut the Crap

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water and Bookends

I can go on and on and on, but those are the ones off the top of my head. If you don't like anything on that list, it's something seriously wrong with you. :tongue2: Feel free to PM me or something if you want more recommendations. :)

Already have about half of the thing you mentioned. But there are many thing here that I haven't heard, or have heard but forgot to buy or download. Thank you very much!

More albums and bands would be awesome by the way. Although I only have got about 11 GB left for music. Then I have to clear the disk, and that's boring.
