liquidswords
Staley. I loved his voice. It was dark, had a very demented, almost evil at times feeling. I thought his stage presence was great too. I think he was amasterful lyricst, as shown by songs like them bones and Angry Chair.
Spoon87
The best singer's in lead, that's cool. Chris has an awesome set of pipes, he could pull off anything he wanted.

wasted
Where the fuck is Scott Weiland?!?!Isn't really grunge.Emo Grunge-lite - not that there's anything wrong with that.
Biz Markie.
C'mon, this is elementary.Mark Lanegan is the voice of Grunge THANK YOU!I was going to fucking say that! Thank goodness somebody else here knows their shit. But, since it was narrowed down to these, four, I had to go with Vedder. Chris Cornell lost all my respect when he was in Audioslave, Layne Staley is good, but not nearly as good as Vedder, and Kurt Cobain is a joke. wasted
C'mon, this is elementary.Mark Lanegan is the voice of Grunge None of the options.Mark Arm.Both are better choices. Out of the four options I go for Layne or Kurt. Can't choose.EDIT: How could I fucking forget Andrew Wood?!Tad. Who actually embodies Grunge, nobody wanted that job.Just think Lanegan has a great rock voice. Cornel is more metal, Kurt more Punk, Vedder is like the conscience but his voice is a bit stylized.Lanegan used to be HS quarter back - he's so American. Communist China
Layne Staley for sure. Most soulful and emotional, with a great range. Cornell's voice is also very impressive but he doesn't emote as well imo.Everyone knows Layne from AIC, but his singing on Mad Season's 'Above' is better than most of his AIC work. Wake Up, Long Gone Day, I'm Above, River of Deceit... all great examples of Layne's amazing talent. I don't like AIC's Live album but there are some good boots of them, and MAd Season's live performance was pretty damn good.I don't think Vedder or Kurt are that good. Mark Lanegan deserves some credit too.
UYIllusion
I went with Vedder as I am a big Pearl Jam fan. Although if I was unbiased I might say Layne.
