10-1

Jason Newsted – Metallica

Vinnie Paul – Pantera

Tina Weymouth - Talking Heads

Michael Anthony - Van Halen

Ray Manzarek – The Doors

George Harrison - The Beatles

John Entwistle – The Who

Garth Hudson and Richard Manuel – The Band

Geezer Butler – Black Sabbath

John Paul Jones – Led Zeppelin

Well JPJ should of course be number 1, for the lemon song alone.

Thoughts?

Edit:

Izzy is even overlooked in lists about overlooked band members, god damn.

Great call with Geezer, JPJ, Ray, and George. They made my list too.

George Harrison - The Beatles

John Paul Jones - Led Zeppelin

Robby Krieger - The Doors

Ray Manzarek - The Doors

Geezer Butler - Black Sabbath

Mick Taylor - The Rolling Stones

Mike Campbell - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Izzy Stradlin - Guns N' Roses

Richard Wright - Pink Floyd

Ed O'Brien - Radiohead

EDIT: John Densmore from the Doors was a really great drummer too, I like his jazz style with the psychedelic/rock music. Good fit.

And no, JPJ shouldn't be #1 for Lemon Song, he should be #1 because of No Quarter :)

I don't think JPJ or Harrison are that overlooked.

And I think that other guy from Sabbath is more overlooked than Geezer.

Bill Ward? He was a pretty good drummer, but can barely play anymore.

JPJ doesn't get the credit he deserves, especially when Page+Plant reunited in the 90s and didn't involve him at all. He played some great keys & mandolin lives, was a good bass player, and wrote some good songs.

Harrison definitely gets credit, but everything is Lennon/McCartney to most people. He wrote some of their best songs like While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, and Here Comes the Sun.
