inthisriver Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Always got the impression that he was a really cool guy, and he was a sick ass drummer, rip I'm sure he will be missed. Quote
Val22 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Cause of death was inconclusive, but they still have to get the toxocolgy results back and that takes a while.Frist thing I thought of this morning when I woke up was that the Rev was dead. I can only imagine how his family and the rest of the band are feeling now. It sucks when someone so young dies so suddenly. I've seen A7X 3 times now and this is a band whose members all seem to fit perfectly together. They grew up in Huntington Beach together, most of them went to school together and they were as close as brothers.they were all working on a new cd, which I'm sure will be delayed now. It just sucks when someone so talented dies when you know the best was yet to come from him. With all the musicians that have died, there must be one hell of a band somewhere playing in the afterlife. tat2d1 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Was jammin' on "Afterlife" earlier today. Almost brought a tear to my eye thinking about The Rev dying and all. Quote
Val22 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Was jammin' on "Afterlife" earlier today. Almost brought a tear to my eye thinking about The Rev dying and all. It's weird because Afterlife was Jimmy's song. He wrote it and played it for the band before they recorded it. A7X's latest album is a cd/dvd combo. The dvd shows the making of the cd and it shows The Rev's amazing musical talents as well as the other band members.I was listening to The City of Evil cd today and the Rev's drumming talents were amazing. I don't know how the band will replace him, if they will even try. I don't know how far along their latest album is? I think they just finished writing the new album, but I don't think they actually began recording. Too bad. I'm sure this album would have been their best to date. I just know that as close as these guys were to each other, brothers, they will need plenty of time to mourn their dear friend. I'm sure eventually the new album will be released and of course it will be dedicated to Jimmy, but until then we fans have to give them the time they need. These guys are young enough so that they can take time to decide what they want to do and I really hope they decide to continue as a band and maybe one day find a replacement for The rev on drums and possibly another family member too. Guest floyd the barber Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I was never a fan of the band, but I definitely knew their drummer was some thing special. He was without a doubt a very key person in the band. Poor guy. Quote
aussie_axl Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 rev was amazing live, he's the best drummer i've ever seen, RIP thanks for the music. Quote
Conor Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Fuck, that fuckin' sucks. As a drummer, he was someone I loved to play along to. Only just saw this topic there now, I had no idea. Weird, considering I listened to their entire self-titled album yesterday. RIP Rev Quote

Weird, considering I listened to their entire self-titled album yesterday. RIP Rev Well, unless you lived in LA I don't think any papers reported the death. I live in Dallas and they didn't mention the rev's death at all. They even listed the people who died in 2009 and they ended the year with Britney Murphy and no mention of the Rev at all. I found out through a friend who found out online. I think if you didn't see it online you wouldn't have known about it.I'm not even sure if any music channels made a tv announcement. I know MTV had a small story listed, but since there wasn't much to know right now, it seems all that was posted was on the A7X website and their myspace page.Anyway, I still feel his loss. It sucks big time that he's gone at 28 years old. I can only imagine the pain the band is feeling since they were like brothers. The on Demand music channel has put their Bat Country and The Beast and the Harlot video under the rock category. It just seems so surreal to watch the Rev alive and drumming away and then realizing his dead and gone forever. so damn sad. Quote
Allen8R Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Ah man, that really sucks. They were a bit close to death metal for my liking but a great band none the less and he was one incredible drummer. I'm guessing it was a drug overdose. Way to fuckin common story in the music industry.A8R Quote
