Do album covers influence you to listen to a band or an album?

of course!!

for instance.. the cover on Slash's solo record made me lose all interest in buying it without ever having heard it... I'm gonna download it though of course, if it's really good I'll buy it, but if the cover was better I would've bought anyway

I know a lot of you hate the Chinese Democracy cover and I've heard that isn't even what Axl wanted.. but it surely does something for me, don't know what though, but I love the simplicity! (just adding this since I saw the cover posted)

Well I bought Pixie Lott's album when I was drunk because of the cover. Atleast there was one track I liked, but that won't give me back my £7. Stella. Fucks sake.

And I was excited for the Gorillaz album before I saw the cover but after seeing it I want to buy hundreds of copies to glue them to my wall as wallpaper.

That's a good question.

And not really for me, if the music is good that's the hook for me, the cool cover art, thick booklets, that's all just a bonus.

That's not what I'm asking though. I'm asking, if you see a cover that appeals to you a lot, does it or will it influence you to check out the band or album? Of course it's the music that matters, but do covers make you want to listen to something more? Sometimes they do for me.

it's like would you instinctively go up and talk to an attractive woman or an ugly one... ofcourse looks sway sales & first impressions. plus it's a huge marketing gambit, artists cater to their audiences that they want to draw in. you won't see an alice cooper cover with a daisy on it.
