inthisriver
Of course. it's not the end all be all, but I think we've all been attracted to something new by it's cover.

Black Sabbath
Definitely, Spoon. So what a lot of you are telling me, is that if you see a cool album cover, you don't wonder what the band sounds like or you've never been influenced to check that band out at all?gtfo

Rock_And_Roll_Over
Well, if it's a band I know or have heard of that I want to check out, then no.However if I'm just walking through the store and I see something that catches my eye, I might be more inclined to listen to it. Like, I wouldn't be exactly EAGER to listen to this album even if I didn't know Manowar, ya know?

Revolver
of course!!for instance.. the cover on Slash's solo record made me lose all interest in buying it without ever having heard it... I'm gonna download it though of course, if it's really good I'll buy it, but if the cover was better I would've bought anywayI know a lot of you hate the Chinese Democracy cover and I've heard that isn't even what Axl wanted.. but it surely does something for me, don't know what though, but I love the simplicity! (just adding this since I saw the cover posted)

Phanatic
No, but if it's a really cool cover it sticks in your head, you know? And as someone else said, Slash's album cover, sucks.
Black Sabbath
If album covers hadn't influenced me, there would be a lot of music not in my catalog right now.Learn2beinfluenced, people.
JesusisSavior
they used to, i remember looking at the cover of Purple Rain for the first time and being like " heeeeeeellll naww..."that album it made me eat my words.
Snake Eyes
Well I bought Pixie Lott's album when I was drunk because of the cover. Atleast there was one track I liked, but that won't give me back my £7. Stella. Fucks sake. And I was excited for the Gorillaz album before I saw the cover but after seeing it I want to buy hundreds of copies to glue them to my wall as wallpaper. estranged 16
not really. but once i start to go through a band/artist's material, i listen to songs with "cool" titles first.
axl_on_drums
That's a good question. And not really for me, if the music is good that's the hook for me, the cool cover art, thick booklets, that's all just a bonus.

I'm asking, if you see a cover that appeals to you a lot, does it or will it influence you to check out the band or album? Of course it's the music that matters, but do covers make you want to listen to something more? Sometimes they do for me.

Sometimes they do for me.it's like would you instinctively go up and talk to an attractive woman or an ugly one... ofcourse looks sway sales & first impressions. plus it's a huge marketing gambit, artists cater to their audiences that they want to draw in. you won't see an alice cooper cover with a daisy on it.
