duff_rose
Hey there. I know "Van Diemens Land", which is a very irish sounding song, but have U2 made other songs that sound "Irish"?Also, I hear that The Edge's guitar playing is very Irish.. Black Sabbath
inb4"u2sucks"But, I would say that if you're looking for other "Irish" sounding songs, your best bet would be to check out the rest of their Rattle & Hum album. That's the closest you're going to get. Also, try out songs like Bad and Trip Through Your Wires.

dalsh327
"U2 is like, it's in space somewhere. There is no particular musical roots or heritage that we plug into." - BonoI think the Irish influence is in growing up there, more than any music influence. It would be like Billy Joel or Lou Reed singing about New York. Edge treats his guitar like a synthesizer more than he does a guitar. He has thousands of sounds programmed from over the years. I think that's part of why U2 went to Germany after the wall fell, too. It was the place to be at the time, and they were also looking to get a little bit of that feel on Achtung Baby that Bowie and Eno got on the three albums they worked together, plus the two with Iggy. His influences are more like guys like Robert Fripp who were doing stuff like that.
