the very first GN'R demo is some important step in the band's history. But all info from interviews, Slash's, Duff's, Adler's books etc. arent really specific at all and stories also differ from memories. Some fans did a closer look for a couple of years now and without goin into all the details i'll try to track it down some short to what we could put together:

Background

By the end of August, 1985, the band was actively trying to create their first demo tape. A guy named Raz Cue, who was both a friend of the band and a backer of L.A. Guns, was helping them finance the demo. Marc Canter kicked in the final money to ensure the band got the demo mixed. (see 1st book release from “Reckless Road”, page 107)

1) what songs are exactly on this first professional demo?

- "Don't Cry" (probably made it on the official B-Side from the "Don't Cry"-single) ??

- "Welcome To The Jungle" (demo used to be played on some radio back then) ??

- "Anything Goes" (similar to the alternative forms Hollywood Rose-version) ??

- "Back Off Bitch" ??

- "Think About You" ??

- more ??

all above never has been proven to be real, its just some fans putting together lots of info, comparing circulating versions etc.

2) when and where did they record it?

1st demo was recorded at ??"Hollywood Sound"?? or ??"Mystic Sound"?? and it was somewhere between July 1985 and March 1986, when exactly?

3) were there other demo sessions between this first professional one and the later ones in summer-fall-winter 1986 (Sound City Demos, Pasha and up to the Mike Clink-sessions)?

We absolutely dont have any info for this!

Marc, please please take a look into this issue and not shoot out just from memories (though you've often be very good in this!) because we'd really like to know, and as you kicked in some money for this demo....we assume you've got a copy from it somewhere so you could be the only one talking to fans verifiying this issue?

Please take a look, thanks a LOT in advance!!

The demo was recorded in Hollywood between sunset and Santa Monica near wilcox. It was done in late August of 1985. I remember Axl being upset that he wished Rocket Queen could have almost been on there. Just after they recorded it Rocket Queen was written. Think about you was not on it. It was Jungle Anything Goes which Axl used a comb to make neat sound affects on. Axl was very creative and found a way to get something he wanted with out spending money to get it. ,Don't Cry and Back Off Bitch. They also recorded Heart Break Hotel but it didn't make it on the tape.

thanks for your answer, Marc, much much appreciated!!

but its still a little confusing as there is a professional demo from "Think About You" that really sounds as if coming from that 1st professional demo recording aswell (we've really done lots of searching, comparing etc., it just sounds like being recorded with the other songs "Welcome to the Jungle", "Don't Cry", "Back Off Bitch", "Anything Goes"). this "Think About You"-demo is most likely not the one from "Sound City".....which means we dont have ANY info where this "Think About You"-demo is coming from, but as they've played it live during the summer of 1985, it could have been recorded for the 1st demo aswell? do you have a copy from that 1st demo to verify the songs 100% maybe? that would be the ultimate info!!

or -as asked before- maybe there were other demo sessions between this first professional demo and the later ones in summer-fall-winter 1986 (Sound City Demos, Pasha and up to the Mike Clink-sessions)?

There were no demos between the first one and Sound City. So I don't know where that Think About You came from
