TombRaider
Well, he's just six, but he has a lot of potential. I'm sure he'll grow up to be a great drummer. Now, for some reason, this thread reminded me of this While it's a great cover and the musicians are great, I think it goes to show that metal, and music in general, is not just about being able to hit the right tones, but also about feeling and about conveying an emotion, whether it's violence or love or whatever. They're a great cover band... but this is a fricking Pantera song. It's supposed to be violent and with an attiude. I don't hear violence or attitude coming from this band. Of course, they're just kids, but still. They'd do a great job covering Dream Theater though, since they're a soulless band and all. That's the usual problem with YouTube covers. People sing the songs or play the songs without feeling them. Dude, if you're going to cover a song like You could be mine, if you're going to sing the lyrics, fuckin think about what you're singing. If you're going to be playing a song like Fade to Black by Metallica, try to convey what the song is about through your playing. you're not a machine, you're a human being. make your audience feel the song. my 2 cents. you see us comin and you all together run for cover Edited June 22, 2013 by TombRaider

dalsh327
Some of you know that ability to play music is part of the battle. There's guys who were/are great musicians, but they never take it to the next level for all sorts of reasons. People go "aw, the kid's cute and he's good, he's going to have a future in music", but he might be playing cruise ships in 20-30 years or endless hours in New Orleans for drunk tourists functioning as background noise. I think parents have to kind of be dicks to their kids as far as wanting them to excel goes, just to get them to push themselves, but they shouldn't be dream crushers. That leads to years of therapy. It's up to the parent to find music mentors for the kids that can educate the little brats who get their asses kissed at how wonderful and great they are, because a kid with heart and soul is going to be hell bent on destroying him.
