GivenToFly Posted August 21, 2013 Share Posted August 21, 2013 I just came back from seeing it. It's alright. Not as good as District 9, and somehow even more preachy, but alright. Whereas D9 was commenting on apartheid, this is on US poor immigrants. Otherwise the two movies are very similar: similar colours, similar shots, VERY similar action scenes, most of Elysium happens in a slum, the exoskeleton the hero wears is just like the robot skeleton Wikus wore and the bad guy is VERY reminiscent of that tough guy character in D9.
