highvoltage Posted October 22, 2013 Share Posted October 22, 2013 GRiZ is one of those artists that grabbed my attention the moment I first tuned into his music. He records his samples himself (he plays a lot of instruments) and takes a lot of time crafting his albums. I guess because so many producers are so prolific, I get genuinely excited listening to his music just because there's so little of it. He also gives it away for free.Anyway, this is his second album. It's dripping with funk, beats, hip-hop, robot noises, dub and several other booty-shaking genres which I'm too lazy to name. It's just a really fun record... and rewarding to keep exploring. There's a lot going on most of the time, but he manages to keep things flowing and contained so it's rarely overwhelming.Check out Hard Times, it's a bit of an easier (shorter) introduction than Gettin' Live.
