I don't know about everyone else but isn't it taking a long time for these groups/people to fade away... I remember them around 1999 with their starts..They just don't seem to be going anywhere, and now ashley simpson is doing great...

WHen I was younger it was tiffany and debbie gibson.. They faded away, I wonder if the girls of this generation will just continue to do good/?

I figured they would fade when the boy bands did...

Rap, pop , n R&B are so huge in music today, the vmas were strange to me...

I wonder when they'll expire..?

Pop can't expire.

Pop = Popular music.

If you mean that Bubble Gum shit then well... I don't even know, and it scares me. When people near me talk about how awesome the new Britney song is I feel like breaking their knee caps.

I usully call the shitty music pop... I can't believe people cry when britheny peforms...I can believe someone would cry because it sucks, but not because it's like a wow performace...

Fuck even usher live didn't sing... It was obvious being he was standing in a rainstorm with his microphone

The thing that has always troubled me is how anyone could be a pop music fan.. How do you get so into some movement..

I can't well I can believe paris hilton is releasing a record.. They've milked that whore for all she's worth already...

USA will always have this going on...:cry::cry::cry:

Pop music is for the kids, why can't you people ever realize this?

The britney's, christinas and jessicas are there to entertain the youth. Not many 10 year olds want to listen to Bob Dylan and Metallica.

Britney will be successfull as long as 8-18 year old kids enjoy her POP music. And as long as the songs have a dance-beat that people at clubs can dance too.

YOU people need to relax and step down off your high horse. Until the day we see Britney or Jessica come out and say "My music is going to change the world. It should be cherished like a Shakespear play." - THEN you can start trashing them.

POP music is like a meal from McDonalds. Quick and easy and tastes OK - but quickly forgetable.

It's been like this for ever. Learn to deal with it. Be glad there are ALL kinds of music out there for people to choose from. If you don't like it - don't listen to it. Pretty simple concept . . . but don't take away other people's rights to listen to it.

I completely get what you mean, Mike. I remember the days of Tiffany (mall rat) and Debbie (I mean Deborah) Gibson too. At least for Gibson, she actually wrote and produced the songs herself, which few of the pop-ular artists can say today.

There's not enough variety and good talent out there now. Every radio station sounds the same. And forget MTV and VH1. I watched Cribs the other night and some Rap artist was showing his amazing house. I never even heard of him.

I'm resigned to watch VH1 classics and view old Flock of Seagulls and Loverboy

vids. B)

Great post, Apollo!

So true.

And there's nothing wrong with a McDonald's run every now & then, even for the grown-ups.

Exactly.

I don't listen to those groups. I dn't buy their albums. But listenting to a Christina song isn't going to kill somebody.

And if you go out dancing with some fine young hottie . . . . would you rather hear some pop/rap song that makes teh girls grind and shake their asses, or Jeremy by Pearl Jam?

And yes . . . . every now and again an Arby's or McDonalds or BurgerKing satsifies the appetite!

yes I understand all that.. I jusr remember in the 80's there was more of a selection, there was pop like tiffany, new kids, and debbie gibson but there was also alot of rock too.. I could deal with it because there was a selection...Now it's not like that you have tons more rap, tons more R&B, everyone is with someone, it's a big mess and the rock is barely there... Even the rock is terrible, we are in a shitty movement....

Take the 90's , you had such a selection of videos... PJ, nirvana, gnr, metallica, soundgarden, NIN, AIC, etc,etc.. You get the point...

Now it's like who gets any airtime besides these popular groups..? Sure there are some but the quality is so watered down..Makes you wonder if there's room for a good group to fit in??

Back in the day you/we had Headbanger's ball, it was awesome so many good bands ,now there's like tons of trash and sucky music... We use to have three hours of pretty hard rocking music... Now we have reality shows on alot... I can deal with a simpson song, but must she be on a show too, should ashley have a show?? I'm all for kids enjoying music, but seems like older people were forgotten, we never get a cool video unless it's some countdown

Jessica Simpson just needs to fuck off right now. Or at least change her career path and stop singing/appearing on TV. How someone manages to make a Robbie Williams song any worse than it already is is beyond me.

Paris Hilton is releasing music? If it's anything like her porno-stint it will go downhill FAST.

I don't mind Christina and I don't mind Britney that much but, moreblack is right. There is still plenty in reserve with the younger generation breaking through into the music scene.

Every time i turn on MTV or any other music channel it is rap/hip hop/pop. This, sadly, seems to be the time when this type of music is at its strongest (not in terms of talent, just popularity) amongst most youngsters.

JMO.

this is never gonna end, they're multiplying too quickly and teens love them so it won't just fade away.....which sucks! <_<

i can't believe Paris Hilton is actually going to release an album! that just crosses the line. I think i read somewhere that her rep said that her voice was a mixture between Christina's and Janet's or something like that.......

it's never gonna end but it'll be diminished by a new big band that can move and kick everybody's ass

it's hard but it'll happen ;)

and they'd have to be true(non sellouts) who actually create their music and wont let any money change it or change what they stand for

You're right...for aslong as the teens still love and buy these records the longer these bands will stick around :(
