Michael Jackson

Bob Dylan

Chuck Berry

Johnny Cash

None of them are bands.

Bob Dylan had a band. Go buy Blonde on Blonde. That's a band. Johnny Cash had a band. Johnny Cash and the Tennesee Two. Chuck Berry and Michael Jackson had a band. Who cares if it's a band anyway? Bob Dylan playing by himself on Freewheelin' is as good as anything.

On this one, I agree with Rumin. It's a classic consequential complication of classification  . It seems you have to list "artists" or "bands", we really need a new word that covers them both.

This is for the biggest, not best. So in other words, more famous, right?

Then what in the hell are bands like Genesis, Dire Straits, and REM and Oasis doing on that list ahead of AC/DC?

Because Genesis can sell out Wembley Stadium 4 nights in a row...

Something Axl can only dream of, Gn'R really were not a big band.

Also, Deep Purple were the biggest band of the early 70's. :)

Do Genesis have the highest selling Hard Rock album of all time? :)

I know i'm probably biased, but I think most people are putting AC/DC too far down on their lists. They're a band that should sit around 5-10.

No, they're not hard rock. They've still sold heaps of albums.

They can still sell out Wembley Stadium four nights in a row.

Deep Purple

Thin Lizzy

The Clash

Deep Purple

and kick U2, Green Day and oasis and genesis

fucking yeah!!!!1 and where's The Doors?

Black Sabbath should be higher, along with ACDC. and as much as i love genesis, they dont deserve a place up in there.

BTW get GNR the hell out of there. big band? dont think so. they were (and for some of us still are) awesome they they werent as big... they're overrated at this aspect.

oh c'mon, Green Day should be taken of that list, you all know that no normal person listen to that

i hate those suckers too but you must understand that the question is about famuos bands- not good bands.

that why i think GNR shuld be taken of this list- they're one of my favourite bands- but they arent as big as most of the bands mentioned in this list (like Floyd or Beatles or U2 or queen etc...)

Guns N' Roses and Green Day do not belong near a Top 20 list. I'm not commenting on the quality of their music at all. They just don't because they aren't.

For real, who the hell has ever heard of Green Day or Guns N' Roses, psssshaahhh

How could you ignore the band with the MOST succesfull debut in Rock N' Roll history? (Guns N' Roses)

Firsty, Genesis were and still are a billions times bigger and more well known than Guns N' Roses, they have sold Millions more albums than Gn'R and thats not including Phil Collins and Peter Gabiel's solo careers.

Get your heads out Axl's asses people, Gn'R really were not that big.

and what about BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN??????

He and his band are probably one of the 10 not 20 biggest bands ever... I am talking about fans, albums, concerts...

I don't know a lot of stats/details about him and his band, but I think Bruce Springsteen is there.

I dunno about that johnezz, to be honest - GN'R were pretty big.

The reason i'm replying though - it's about Peter Gabriel. I've had this album called "Peter Gabriel 3: Melt", not knowing what it was. Now I do....:laugh:
