neatd99
I'm trying to get some essential Jazz albums (not Greatest Hits titles) in my collection. I'm trying to get a wide variety of everything (early jazz, big band, afro-cuban, modern jazz, whatever). I'd also like to get some vocalist albums, if possible. Live albums are cool, too.So far, I have:Kind of Blue (Miles Davis)A Love Supreme (John Coltrane)Getz/Gilberto (Stan Getz)Bird & Diz (Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie)I realize that I'll need to buy compilation albums for the earlier artists (ie Louis Armstrong and co.). At the moment, I'm more interested in "classic" and "essential" Jazz albums. Anything you guys could recommend me would be appreciated.EDIT: A friend of mine recommended that I get Ella Fitzgerald's "Ella in Berlin." It's a classic live album, according to him.
