swlabr
I'm too tired to think about that but a couple of albums that are usually overlooked is The Bands "Music From Big Pink" and their self-titled record. Classic music.

ffrankwhite
fuck it, im gonna take a shotThe White Album - The Beatles (Sgt Peppers only...purer)Nevermind the Bollocks (possibly the greatest album from, confirmed, the greatest band of all time)The Ramones - The Ramones (infinitely listenable, influential, its a toss up if its the ramones of the stooges that are the greatest american band of all time)Raw Power (from beggining to end, makes me want to go into a padded cell with a stereo and pound myself to joyous death)this is where i get stuck...elvis, little richard, chuck berry (his guitar sound informs ALL of rock n roll, how can he not make a list like this?)Live at the Star Club - Jerry Lee Lewis (the most powerful performance of rock n roll i have ever heard)Electric Ladyland - The Hendrix Expierience (to this day people cant fuck with this album and beat its spirit, not-a one person)stuck again...nirvana?? as much as i love em i can't really put them hereSecond Edition aka Metal Box - Public Image Limited (breaks all boundaries and barriers, Flowers Of Romance by the same band i think belongs on this list but...not enough space)Exile On Main Street - The Rolling Stones The Velvet Underground & Nicoi really can't make the rest, i think lists like this are fundamentally flawed and almost disrespectful in that...they encourage that top 10 listing one if better than the other mentality which attempts to put a price tag or a grade if you will and i'm afraid it doesnt work like that, art doesnt work like that. cant finish the list Edited July 18, 2007 by ffrankwhite
Lithium
If the list could be longer, I would have added The Stooges - Raw Power or The Stooges, The Ramones - Ramones or Rocket to Russia as well, in addition to Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley and Bob Marley & The Wailers - Exodus. Getizzyback
01.The Doors (1st album) I can only imagine someone going in a music store and buying this , not being too familiar with the group , or just hearing one song etc. What a surprise that must have been , I'm sure it lit more than just their fire!02.AC/DC - Back in Black Ironic the name is Back in Black , but in reality , it turned the light back on! Could have named it "Right is Bright" A true masterpiece , must have made guitar sales surge 75% in 1980.03.Led Zeppelin - IV If this music don't get your juices flowing , you must be dead , no one seen these guys coming , but damn , we died when they left.04.Black Sabbath - (1st album) I know , Paranoid , is a classic , but if you look at my Doors statement , it kinda fits here , this album was UNBELIEVABLE when it came out , and people went to bed , fell a sleep still hearing War Pigs in their minds.05.Def Leppard - Pyromania OK , some might say WTF , but this is a true rock album , this was one of those deals where , you had americans walking around in british shirts. That would make some folks proud , but the songs on this are gonna live forever,,,,,,yes they are.06.Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction OK , why are we all here? Cause Axl let us know we could all go to the jungle A little different spin on a rock style that captured people who swore up and down , I'll never listen to that hippee shit. Axl & co changed that for many!07.The Beatles - Let it Be Yes , these guys changed the word music , their pictures should be in the dictionary next to the definition. Most influentual artists ever , they made the girls pee themselves in concert , they couldn't even hear themselves play. Let it be , shut everyone up , and we listened and listened and listened........08.Michael Jackson - Thriller This album , is just one of those deals where , OK , this is real good stuff. This is really Michael Jackson? This thing hit pop hard , it hit it so hard , it still hasn't recovered yet. Still the true pop album , even Eddie had to "Beat it"09.Van Halen - (1st album) Speak of the Devil (runner) , I think these guys sort of connected the 70s guys to the 80s guys. They were the bridge of what was , to what was gonna go on. They had a style of cool , talent , and looks all wrapped up into one. The definition of a true rock star , they changed a lot of lives. This is a classic album , and could be mistaken for their greatest hits!10.The Eagles - Hotel California The true sound of the 70s , with a certain permission for country music fans , and rock and rollers alike for liking the same group and it was OK to listen.Everybody (well most) love this album , it was it , in 1976. Don Henley's vocals , are certainly the best thing that happened in a LONG TIME. Hopefully they would make it in The Long Run........ The End
