It was my first Guns N' Roses album on release. Obviously i knew a few of the hits but it was a good start that encouraged me to buy the every studio album, both live dvds and the music video compilation and stay my favorite band ever since. May not be a 10/10, members tried to hault release, there was no damage though. The band is captured fine, many loyal fans have been brought in by that disc. Love the sleeve, the disc itself looks bad.

Yea, they won't REALLY be selling it for 37.99.

And yes, the CD was being sold for a dollar maybe 2 at dollar stores. It wasn't a random claim.

Surely you don't think they are really selling it for 37.99.

My ex-girlfriend works at Dollar Tree. When that picture was shared I asked her if they had Chinese Democracy on her store and she confirmed it. After few months I asked her again if those copies were sold and she said they were still there.

Point is, why THE FUCK would someone backorder Chinese Democracy from Bestbuy for $37.99 and wait from 4 to 7 weeks when they can get the exact product for 99 cents at Dollar Tree?

Give a reasonable answer, eh? Deluded misguided pathetic blind Axl fans?

Why are you mad? :rofl-lol: I wasn't the one who put those CD copies for 99cents at the DT stores. And who I date or used to date is my problem, do not derail the thread.
Not mad at all. Well sort of mad that I can't find a copy for a dollar here in Canada. Edited by Coma16

You're a fan of GNR, haven't you bought a copy of this 99 cents to really confirm if it is really true?

REASONS

Should a fan spend more money for transportation expenses to get the album at Dollar Tree ( 99cents + transportation) or you can get it cheaper at Bestbuy for $37.99

Bestbuy is then misguided or Dollar Tree is not true at all.

I'm in Guam and in my case I can order online at bestbuy.

Even Bestbuy marked it way down before selling everything off to the dollar stores

GUNS N' ROSES' 'Chinese Democracy' Can Now Be Yours For Just $1.99 - Mar. 25, 2011

Best Buy, which was the exclusive U.S. retailer for GUNS N' ROSES decade-plus-in-the-making album "Chinese Democracy", is offering a special deal on copies of the CD. You can now purchase the album via the BestBuy.com web site for just $1.99.

"Chinese Democracy" was a commercial disappointment upon its release in November 2008, selling just 614,000 copies in the U.S. so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The CD was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on February 3, 2009 for shipments in the United States in excess of one million copies.

Best Buy paid $14 million for 1.6 million copies of the album, according to Hits.

Aside from Billboard and Spinner interviews and answering a number of fan questions at a GUNS N' ROSES message board, singer Axl Rose has done no promotion of any kind for "Chinese Democracy".

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal threw cold water on remarks by fellow GUNS axeman D.J. Ashba, who was quoted as saying at a party in Los Angeles late last year that the band was "throwing around a bunch of ideas" for a new album. Thal took to his Facebook page to set the record straight, saying, "We've yet to get in a room and write as a band. (I) know D.J. mentioned something about a new album, but don't want y'all expecting anything soon. Other than old unreleased songs, songs need to be written, jammed, recorded, tweaked, re-worked, re-recorded, mixed, re-mixed, mastered, re-mastered, art, new art, label approval, a game plan from the label that Axl [Rose, singer] approves . . . not as simple when it's on such a big scale . . . Just don't want ya getting frustrated if a GN'R album doesn't happen quick."

"Chinese Democracy" came out 15 years after its predecessor, 1993's "The Spaghetti Incident". It took more than a decade to record, during which every original member of the band except Rose was replaced and four different producers were used.

Nevertheless, Rose hinted in a 2002 interview that the lengthy sessions for the record had left him with enough material for two follow-ups.

Bassist Tommy Stinson, who has been playing in the current GUNS lineup for 12 years, told The Pulse Of Radio that he's always had confidence in Rose's vision. "I had doubts at certain points, and the thing that kept me going every time is that I would talk to Axl about this and that, his ideas about what we're doing and what we're gonna do and stuff like that," he said. "And every time, I just kinda had to stop and go, 'You know, he really knows exactly what he wants to get.' How to get there is another issue, but he knows what he wants, how he wants it to be. Every time I had a doubt, I would talk to him about stuff, and totally be back in it."

37.99 isn't the concrete price and the dollar store story isn't a lie. As you can see, even Best Buy had it marked down for 2 dollars before the dollar store took the copies off of their hands.

You can get a cheaper CD at amazon.com but if amazon doesn't deliver on Guam island (next to Japan?) then Bestbuy can.

You have to understand that most of the posters here are naive, couldn't grasp a simple situation.

Finally, no, I didn't buy a copy, I grabbed the Rockin' Favorites for 99cents because it's definitely a better album than CD. Sorry.

I remember that promo for 1 day only thus ChiDem back on Billboard chart top #19_? fro selling 3K plus items

That was in anticipation of clearing the shelves for the re-release (opinion, not fact) that never happened.

Riiiiiight. Not that this has anything to do with the discussion or anything but please, feel free to come in and start throwing excuses.

I doubt Best Buy was stupid enough to "clear their shelves" for a re-release that was never scheduled to happen. The actual fact of the matter is that they were desperate to get as much as they could for that disappointing album after paying 14 million for the deal and were left holding a turd.

The discussion was about GH being back on the charts but somehow it changed to CD being found at a dollar store. I gave an opinion of why i think BB dropped the price down to $1.99. Why are you so butthurt when people have opinions that differ from yours?
