MYGNRFORUM Theme Template Update - Additional Features   09/09/2017

Happy to announce that the upgrades have almost been completed and the new custom theme is available for all users. There are still a few bugs to work out which we hope to have solved over the next day or two.   To use the new template, click on Themes at the bottom left side of the page and click on MYGNRFORUM (New): It is now set to default in case you did not previously changed themes. A new feature of this update are the new reactions to posts.  By click on the like button, users have a choice of five different reactions (two of our own design): Remember, if you GNR like something, make it a dolphin like! Please use the Ask Staff Anything thread with any questions or concerns. Thanks to everyone for your patience and cooperation over the last couple of weeks while we got this done.

  1. I'd bet someone confused Richard for Izzy.
  2. General Chat / Random Musings

Where the Red Fern Grows was the first book to ever make me cry. Pretty sure I was in fucking 6th grade, even. How 'bout Marley & Me? That's the first one that comes to mind when I think of sad animal movies. I remember crying for a good half hour just knowing what was coming, and thinking of how sad I'd be when my dog would die one day. Don't think I'll watch that one again.
  3. The Sleep And Insomnia Thread

Great thread idea. This is kind of my issue. Not the antisocial bit, as I live by myself. My problem is that I'm a major night owl. I work in schools, so this is totally fine during the breaks in the school year, when I can stay up and sleep in as late as I want. I struggle a lot during the school year though because I just can't get myself to bed at a decent hour. On the occasion that I do make it to bed at a good time, I have a hard time falling asleep because I can't turn off my brain. I just end up thinking about how weird life is or wanting to check things out online for a while. Then my most sound sleep isn't until right before my alarm is gonna go off. I roll out of bed super tired, and promise myself that I'll go to sleep earlier that night, but it just doesn't happen. Womp womp. I take melatonin pretty frequently, but I'm not sure it makes a difference. If anything, it might just have a placebo effect on me at this point. Anyways, thank goodness for the weekends and breaks in the school year. TGIF, motherfuckers. Never heard of magnesium as something that could help before. I think I'll try this dark chocolate trick. In the name of science, of course.
  4. Books/Reading Thread

I'm actually partway through Dracula now. Started it while on vacation this past summer but let it sit until about 2 days ago. I worked at a bookstore in college and picked up this bookmark right before I graduated. I've been slowly trying to knock some books off the list ever since. Totally thought Dracula was on the bookmark but am just now realizing it's not. The book's obviously a classic, so I'm looking forward to getting through it regardless.
  5. Last full album you listened to?

They do put on a good show! I didn't realize how much I liked the Foo Fighters til I caught them live a couple of years ago. So much fun. Managed to snag myself a ticket for their show in my college town in November, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. I've been really into "Run" and "The Sky Is A Neighborhood" lately, but have only given the album a full play once so far. Second listen commencing now.
  6. Thanks to everyone who has helped with getting people tuned in! I'm diggin' The Who right now. About to make myself a drink and settle in for a delightful Saturday evening.
  7. Okaaay. I am seeking one pit ticket for Toronto on 10/29. I'll be celebrating my golden birthday that weekend and can't think of a better way to do so than by squeezing in another Guns trip. Also interested in a single pit ticket for the LA shows on 11/24 or 11/25. Most likely can't do all of these shows, but I'd love to swing just one!

Man, talk about a blast from the past. I giggled a little bit looking at Eric's "About Me" page just now.
  9. MyGNR Bodybuilding Thread

I see what you did there

Thanks for the heads up! I just fixed it in my original post.

The fan meetup is tonight at Hair of the Dog, which is at 1212 Washington Ave. in STL. It starts at 7 pm, but I read that the bar is open til 3 am, so I imagine the party will be going strong for a pretty decent amount of time. I don't believe there are any "official" plans for a pre-show gathering tomorrow, but it sounds like there are lots of bars near the venue. I'm sure those will be full of fellow fans doing some celebrating. As far as merch goes, I do think that some stands usually open outside the venue prior to doors. I'm not sure what time the merch stands usually open, but maybe someone else can answer that better than I can. That totally sucks. Have you checked out America's Best Value Inn on 3rd St.? It's super close to the Dome, and has by far been the cheapest place that close to the venue available these past couple of months. Doesn't seem like the nicest of places, but if you're just looking for a place to have as your home base, I'd say check it out. I was originally planning to stay there, but ended up scoring a nearby Airbnb earlier this month.

I'll be at the meetup tomorrow and of course at the show on Thursday. Can't wait!
