I remember she was a perfect wife-type, cooking, cleaning, went to bed early, good honest citizen - and let Slash do whatever he wanted, although I don't  think she knew all that he was doing.

She made a comfortable family home, but he wasn't ready for that, yet.

Yeah, definitely not.  I think Slash has always had a side of being attracted to reckless people (Perla, Axl) and behavior.  She must have been way too normal for him back then.  I mean he used to brag that Perla was an ex-madam....so there you go.

Anyone here speak portugese, I saw this, and if my terrible translation is correct, this journalist is saying that after the GnR tour is over, Axl and Angus are carrying on with Stevie and some hired hands.

I could see Angus finding it really difficult to quit.  As he said in one of those last interviews; "it's all I know".

But, as much as I've enjoyed the hell out of Axl/DC, I think the positive reception might wane if they continue.  It would be much cooler if this was a limited run only.

Something else I thought was interesting was brought up in the Pitman thread recently. If it's really true that Axl's/the band's financial situation was less than rosy in 2011 (as Pitman claims), that makes all these emails MSL leaked seem more genuine (you can see all of them here: http://www.newgnr.com/forum/index.php?topic=51051.0). Someone pointed these out as examples in the other thread:

    009. January 2011 email about cutting everyone’s pay (part 1)

    010. January 2011 email about cutting everyone’s pay (part 2)

    011. Chinese Democracy band member payments and recoupment

    026. January 2011 Caram Castanzo email complaining about back pay

    082. February 2007 Unpaid studio and producer invoices

So if these are in fact true, then the others probably are as well. Such gems as:

    003. June 2010 Axl email dissolving GNR
    004. December 2009 Axl email dissolving GNR
    008. November 2010 Axl email bitching about Bumblefoot
    013. January 2010 Axl email complaining about Dr. Dre
    014. October 2009 Axl email to Bumblefoot about Duff rejoining
    034. September 2008 Axl email about Slash, reunion, old members, etc. (part 1)
    ...
    046. September 2008 Axl email about Slash, reunion, old members, etc. (part 13)
    055. November 2009 Axl Rose letter to Irving Azoff about Beta, reunion, etc (part 1)
    ...
    062. November 2009 Axl Rose letter to Irving Azoff about Beta, reunion, etc (part 8)
    066. June 2008 Axl email complaining about Tommy siding with Roy over Caram
    070. January 2008 Fernando email listing Axl enemies / Slash allies
    073. October 2004 Beta email to Merck about how to trick Axl, Slash lawsuit, etc (part 1)
    074. October 2004 Beta email to Merck about how to trick Axl, Slash lawsuit, etc (part 2)
    075. October 2009 Axl email about Duff wanting back in and people wanting Tommy out (part 1)
    076. October 2009 Axl email about Duff wanting back in and people wanting Tommy out (part 2)
    077. October 2009 Axl email about Duff wanting back in and people wanting Tommy out (part 3)
    085. August 2009 Dizzy email begging for update from Beta ()
    094. April 2010 DJ Ashba email to Doc about Axl wanting to fire DJ
    095. April 2010 Axl email dissolving GNR and insisting DJ Ashba be sued
    096. January 2008 Axl letter about his feelings on Velvet Revolver (part 1)
    097. January 2008 Axl letter about his feelings on Velvet Revolver (part 2)
    098. January 2008 Axl letter detailing his uncensored thoughts on Slash
    099. January 2008 Axl email about which songs should be on second album
    100. "The Honor of Thieves 2" - Axl book about the break-up of GNR

Most interestng to me is Beta going behind Axl's back to "trick him" (trick him into doing what?). More manipulative TB bullshit.

And also Duff wanting back in of course. Maybe Axl was right to be skeptical about Duff running into him accidentally in London.

I'd also give a kidney to read emails like the one detailing Axl's uncensored thoughts on Slash, VR, the book, etc.

So I remember when this brouhaha was going on.  MSL claims that GnR's management/TB paid him off not to release the actual emails correct?  Unless he's full of it, but some of the titles do seem plausible.  Hmmm.....

If true, I hope they are never released.  Entertaining I'm sure, but it will probably make Axl look crazier than a crackhouse rat.  Just saying.

Dexter Rose just retweeted something that includes the words "you're a rat faced cunt" and  "kiss my ass dickhead". So there's that.

This will probably get deleted, but myself and some others here believe this to be Axl's alternate account. Take it for what you will...

I've read that account before, but it doesn't seem like it's him to me.

Where does it come from the whole "Izzy doesn't like touring" anyway? Cause I recall him saying somewhere he doesn't know what is about it. I mean, he left the band to keep his mental sanity on the first place. I guess is fucking difficult to stay sane with all those drugs around when you just quit, he was fed up with Axl's lateness and stupid thematic parties that costed too much (Slash says this on his bio too), that doesn't mean he didn't like touring, he just didn't like touring that way. He toured with the Jujus around the world with apparently no problem. Now, 25 years later, no drugs involved apparently, all of them being old respectable married/settled men (lol) don't you think he might maybe be able to do a tour? It's not like a marathon. And that quote of him saying he needed several weeks to recover and so on, well, fuck it, it takes me one week to recover from a long busy weekend, I don't really think that means anything.

He hasn't toured his own music in many years. That's quite telling to me.

I could see Izzy going "how much is that girl (Melissa) getting...hell no I'm not getting less than she is, and I'm definitely not getting less than Dizzy's getting". He probably knows how much Mick Taylor was paid by the Stones and wanted to be paid accordingly.

Duff brought a lot to the songs, maybe not to what Flea brings to the Chili Peppers, but he's not just a rhythmic bass player plonking away keeping in line with the drummer.

I don't think they would have offered him less than Melissa or Dizzy. Whatever they offered him, it wasn't chump change.

This is an ego thing, who is on par with who. I think izzy gambled on playing hardball and it backfired, and he's obviously pissed about it.

  8. 21 minutes ago, sjlgnr said:

I don't think so.  I think this is all about the money.  And the 3 of them don't want to give a full share to Izzy.

Also, let's not forget the proximate cause of all the dissension:  Axl's drive for power in the band.   You can make claims about each original member having some role in leaving, but the heart is Axl's power plays:

    1. Axl was already angling to get rid of Steven Adler when Axl fucked Steven's girlfriend live on Rocket Queen.   Really?  Who is going to claim that wasn't an attempt to push Steven out?  Not exactly conducive to band chemistry.

    2. Axl tried to force a contract on Izzy in 1991 that would reduce his share of the band's income and limit his movement on stage.   Ridiculous!

    3. Axl threatened not to go on stage one day unless the rest of the band signed ownership of the "Guns n' Roses" name to Axl.  (Since the name came from Tracii "Guns" and Axl "Rose", the name might not have had IP rights otherwise).

    4. Axl tried to force employment contracts on Slash and Duff in 1996.  That made them leave.

    5. So let's not push it too far with blaming Izzy.  Axl wants to pay him less, and Izzy's saying that if this is a real reunion of Izzy's band, then Izzy should get his fair share.  I can see disagreeing with Izzy's demand to get fair share after leaving pretty early.  But I don't see any basis for saying Izzy's the problem here.  C'mon

Small nitpick about #2.  I believe Axl wanted Izzy to move more onstage, not less.  lol

Riskier than a nutter frontman or a druggy lead guitarist and alchy bassist?

What is that you say? Axl arrives on stage on time and Slosh and McKagan are sober? Well, so are Adler and Izzy!

Well, I think Adler sobriety is shaky at best , too much success, he could easily fall off the wagon again. I think that's another reason the band keeps a tight leash on him.

And in all seriousness, what do we know about Izzy these days?  I know he releases music, but rarely if ever performs live. How do we know he would be capable of a tour of this magnitude? How do we know if he's even sober these days?  I don't think anyone really knows.

  10. 1 hour ago, DieselDaisy said:

    Why?

Izzy founded Guns N' Roses. Slash and Duff didn't.

Izzy wrote far more than Duff McKagan

Izzy wrote more than Slash also.

And do not mention the Izzy quitting thing as Axl quit Guns in 1995, creating a new band (which Slash and Duff subsequently quit), i.e. they all quit Guns at some point between 1991 - 1997.

Yeah, but I think Izzy leaving early into the Illusion tour kind of puts him down the totem pole a bit. At least Slash and Duff saw that thing to the end. It proved that the public accepted GnR without Izzy.

  11. Regarding the Axl/Duff interview; did anyone else find it odd that Axl said it was Slash/Duff's idea to play CD stuff?  I think it's more likely that TB conferred with S/D management and told them it would be a nice gesture if they did that to keep Axl happy.  Then Axl doesn't have to claim responsibility for it.  Just my conjecture.

    There you are :)

Journalist: And here we have a mother, her children and they will explain to us what is this connection between Axl and Brazil.

J: What is your function on Axl's life?

    Beta: Mother. Mummy.

J: Santista Beta Lebeis treats the singer as a son.

B: I always wanted to give to him what I give to my family.

J: Beta moved from Santos to USA in the early 90's. In California she became the nanny of the model Stephanie Seymour's son. Not long after that, Stephanie started dating Axl. When they broke up he asked: 'Leave the nanny with me'.

    J: And it's been 26 years...

    B: Almost 26, yeah

J: On Rock in Rio 2001 Axl paid a tribute to Beta.

J: Today, Axl's assistant is Beta's daughter, Vanessa.

Vanessa: I am the one who get him ready to the show.

J: And the son, Fernando, between a lot of other Santistas from the crew, has the highest job.

Fernando: Today I'm the manager, but the successful of that it's really the family and Axl's trust in us for us to do what has to be done to make the show happen.

I guess I should be used to it by now, but I still find this Beta as Axl's "mommy" thing as so weird.  I'd rather her call him her "best friend" or something.

Who was it that recently mentioned the Brian Wilson biopic here (Love & Mercy)? @Blackstar?

I've been meaning to watch this for a while, but inspired by this thread I actually watched it and all I can say is :scared::scared::scared:

I can see the Axl parallels some people mentioned. Musically gifted kid with an abusive father, manages to become super successfull, while still remaining totally insecure about his abilities (leading to endless tinkering on one album), struggles with mental health issues and ends up getting taken advantage of by a douchebag who somehow manages to control his entire life and rob his money.

Definitely sounds very familiar to me as a Guns fan. And shows how easy it is to take advantage of someone who's vulnerable, lonely and struggles with mental illness, even if that someone is rich, intelligent, famous, etc.

I did some reasearch after I watched the movie and apparently the whole thing was much worse in real life than it was depicted in the movie even (according to Brian Wilson's wife, who played a huge part in getting him out of this fucked up and abusive situation).

One of the explanations I've seen cited for how this could even happen (apart from Dr. Landy purposefully over-medicating Brian Wilson) was that Brian Wilson, being raised by an abusive and domineering father, didn't realize just how dysfunctional and abusive that relationship was because of the way he grew up. I think I've seen someone here make a similar point about Axl before. Wouldn't surprise met at all, sadly.

I was also kind of amused by how Brian Wilson literally got saved from the clutches of the manipulative bastard by the love of a courageous woman. Sounds a lot like the real life version of what some people here wish would happen to Axl :P

I guess the main difference is that BW was always a very passive person and Axl is obviously not.  So it's harder to see him being controlled, but yes it's possible.

I just googled and that is indeed the woman Perla attacked.

Apparently she came to one of Slash's shows, Perla saw her, and then kicked her in the stomach.

Slash supposedly had an online affair (lol) or something like that with that chick.

That.....is hilarious.  I feel like Slash is an "anything goes" type of guy.  lol
