Those jackets represent the bullshit GNR stood against once.

This ain't no reunion, Guns died in 93.

I don't know why people think GnR "stood against" this type of thing.  I don't remember them ever turning away any celebrity friends.  They were based out of Hollywood/LA after all.  If these people are genuine fans of theirs or just hanging because it's cool, who cares?

I saw AC/DC last year too and I'd say this show was somewhat better (bar my hearing issues unfortunately). Axl too was more entertaining to watch (and of course sounded so much better) than the last time I saw him in 2012.

I don't think he's quite as flawless as you guys are making him out to be. He is as good at screaming as humanly possible but pretty bad at normal singing. I noticed on quite a few songs that follow this low verse - high chorus - high verse - high chorus template that he sounded bad on this first verse but good on the rest of the song and that left you feeling like he did a good job. And he did overall. Only outright sucked on TNT and Sin City (when you sing 'aint got no gun aint got no knife but dont you start no fight' you can't sing it like that! sounds funny in a very bad way). Ranged from good enough to great on everything else with the usual highlights, Thunderstruck, Shoot to thrill etc.

Also benefits from the fact that the crowd sings along on everything. Of all the acts I've seen none had crowds showing more enthusiasm and energy than ACDC fans. None even comes close. Not a Manchester thing either. I've seen them 3 times now in three different countries and each time the crowd simply blew me away! Manchester was the best of the three though. (Other two are Belgrade and Oslo)

I do worry about the GNR tour though. My guess is he will sound great on a third to half of the songs and pretty weak on the rest. He could take advantage of his current strengths and avoid his current weaknesses by changing the set quite a bit but that's almost certain not to happen.

Curious as to why you think thaif of Sin City? I think he sounds amazing on that one.

Disliking Alan Niven and his biased, bitter attitude doesn't mean you approve Doug Goldstein.

They were both awful. One kissed Izzy's (and Slash's) ass while making Axl feel threatened and disrespected, the other kissed Axl's ass and failed the other guys.

Yes, Niven and Goldstein are both very unlikeable, that's the business I guess.

Niven, I find to be a pompous blowhard who likes to inflate his importance to the band in those days.  Whether he was fired or not, I believe the band still would have spiraled out of control.  Despite his bluster, Niven had no more control over Axl than anyone else did.

This article (and many others he's done) are just transparently full of bitterness towards Axl.  We all know Izzy is a great songwriter and was a really important part of the band.  That being said, he didn't have the stage/video presence that Axl and Slash did that propelled the band to international stardom.  He kind of had the luxury of being the "mysterious" one, who didn't have to participate in too many interviews or appearances.

And if he really wanted to do RnRHF, why didn't he do it without Axl with the three other original members who were there?

Every time I hear an audio interview with Niven, I just can't stand his tone.  He's totally slapable.

I just think GNR were way too out of control to be co-headlining with anyone at the time. If GNR and Metallica co-headlined now, they'd get along fine.

Plus there was a clip of Hetfield reading the GNR rider and he went "you don't want to read our rider", because James is sober and it's probably all health foods and tea backstage. I'm sure Hetfield's shocked that Axl/DC is proving to be a success and is being a good bandmate.

Hetfield hated Sunset Strip bands in general back in the day and he lumped GNR in.

Hetfield can never mock any one again after Some Kind of Monster.

I thought Izzy's comment was pretty dumb as well. So what if Axl didn't have sex during high school? Like you said, lots of kids don't and there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I think it would be better for most kids to wait a little longer. And Axl did eventually find himself a pretty nice girl it seems, so...

But I just remembered Gina said Axl was 20 or something when they started dating. If he really never touched a woman before that (although we don't know that for sure obviously), I can see why that would seem strange to Izzy, considering that the average age for that kind of thing lies quite a bit lower and Izzy and the other guys in the band all seem inordinately proud of the fact that they were screwing around from a young age (*cough* Slash *cough*).   Sorry for the dig at Slash, but that man sure loves talking about what he got up to at 12 or 13 and all the older women he managed to have sex with  (Not that Izzy or Steven are much better).

    Men.

I thought it was really interesting as well, without being trashy or overly scandalous. Where did you hear that about him sneaking into her bedroom? That's kinda cute, but I don't remember that from the interview I read. Or maybe I've just forgotten. I should see if that interview is still around somewhere.

Yes, I thought he seemed a bit hesitant as well. Not just there, but also in other moments. But right now I'm feeling optimistic things will get better and better between them. Hopefully.

And you get well soon! Stomach pains suck.

As for Axl sneaking into Gina's bedroom;  I'm sure it was from that article, but it might have been in a foreward by the writer Dean Kuipers.  I think the original article was bigger than this part.

During most of the 80's his teeth was putrid from so much cigarettes, probably drugs too and of course, lack of dental hygiene but for the Don't Cry video he had it all fixed already. I think he fixed it in 1990 actually.

This might sound sick, but Axl's rotten teeth in the Jungle video made me even more attracted to him.  It just let me know he was legit you know?  lol

I'd imagine it might have been after leaving his religion and moving out of his parents' home? Axl's said that his church raised him with the idea that anything sexual was dirty and wrong, and he didn't stop going until he was well into high school.

I thought the comment from Izzy was stupid, though. Many kids aren't sexually active in HS for all sorts of reasons and it doesn't mean they're losers; it means they're not ready, they're working things out; they haven't gotten past their awkward stage yet;  they're concentrating on other things; etc. A lot of people I knew in high school were totally straight-laced, and yet when we were all in college they slept around a lot. Being away from one's parents, having more freedom and being around a lot of other horny college students will do that, LOL.

there is an old interview with Axl somewhere, when he says how old he was when he lost his virginity.  sixteen or seventeen?  It's hard to remember now.

This interview is amazing! Sounds a lot to what my first-hand source told me :)

But the letters are not for Gina. I think these are part of the batch that Erin auctioned. These letters were sent to Erin, as far as I know.

No, these were Gina's, I remember them from the original interview.

Oh wow I have never seen this picture. The parted in the middle, feathered hair is killing me (in a good way) and the sunglasses still seem wearable today....and apparently all I can do is compliment ppl's sunglasses today. /o\

I remember Gina's interview. It was really interesting. She called him extremely intelligent and assessed that something chemical happened to him when he got angry. He also used to sneak into her bedroom at night. She's never talked again though.

Dave Grohl is the name you grab out of thin air when you can't think of anything bloody better to say!

Let's think of the most inoffensive, boring, people pleasing option and go with that. The one where you won't get any come back for saying it coz everyone loves Dave.

i don't think picking Axl was the easiest option for AC/DC. They will be well aware of the risk that comes with him, and it is a big risk for them.

They went with who sounded best at the time,  bonus he's a big enough name to keep tickets sold, but it's still cool to me that they went with riskier option coz he sounded good. RnR.

Yeah, respect. Guaranteed, they had a lot of people warning them not to do it.

The guy is entitled to his opinion of course, but he is a moron if he thinks that Axl isn't doing wel fronting AC/DC, or that Dave Grohl would be better. I mean, even when the interviewer says that people compare Axl's singing to Bon, this guy is adamant that David Grohl sounds just like Bon Scott . Oh my God.

Apparently, he feels that Axl hasn't done enough to show respect to Brian or his status (maybe he didn't watch the group interviews) and that Dave would do a better job by doing shout outs to Brian during every show. He loses all credibility with his position that Dave Grohl represents what Rock is (okay, I'm kind of biased because I hate Nirvana but he's okay with the Foo fighters), but c'mon Axl doesn't? The biggest joke is him implying that Axl's 'intentions' are all wrong. Hahaha. Yeah, Axl is evil and you hate him - unfortunately, a lot of the AC/DC fans who are hating on the present situation are doing so because of deep rooted biases against Axl and even hearing evidence to the contrary that he sucks as AC/DC frontman isn't going to change their minds.

Anyhow, bad publicity is good when it is as biased as this is and easily disproven.

How ridiculous to say that Dave Grohl could front ACDC.

I almost want to see other singers try it for proof of how good Axl is doing.

He's bloated in the belly and face. His legs are thin. So clearly alcohol :(

Kinda disappointed with these pics. How come he's looking so bloated from like a week ago?

I don't think he looks very bloated. His face isn't thin, but I don't consider him overweight at all. I don't know about the alcohol, he was never really known for that.

Axl tweets a lot when he's confident and knows he's bringing the rasp.. Like in 2009/2010 and around the first few Axl/Dc shows.. I believe he has lost confidence as now his voice seems to have gotten much weaker. He stopped tweeted after about the third show, and that's when his voice started showing signs of weakness. Axl has lost confidence

    He sounded great in Switzerland.

The elephant in the room, yes. Just how crazy is Axl really? And would we rather the singer of our favorite band be a gullible moron or batshit insane? There are certainly enough people around who've got some "crazy Axl stories" to tell to make him being a being a fry or two short of a happy meal believable.

(And Axl's hair is red! :P Still is in my opinion..... The weight thing is strange as well. Maybe he has some kind of eating disorder? Rare in men, but still more common than many think...)

There are a lot of prescription medications that can make one gain weight or bloat. That's my guess.

As for the gullible thing, to be fair, he did grow up being taught to believe in higher powers. Did anyone read that letter from his stepfather in the EE auction? Yikes, is all I can say.

Axl must have been dreadfully unhappy to consider something like an exorcism. I don't think it's being dumb, it's longing to be "fixed" or whole.
