  1. Axl seems more 'friendly' these days in that statement, and taking pics with fans / nobodies, etc. Either because he is older, or because the company has tried to direct his actions to be more fan-friendly, or a combination of both. I am anxious to see his demeanor on stage; if he acts differently than in the past. Either way, its not that important, the music is, but its just obvious to me that right now he seems more toned- down. At work I had to do "media interaction" and interview training for our execs, and this kind of stuff is the focus of it. Maybe they brought it up to WAR as well.

  2. I think this is all a game, and Merck is doing his job as game show host.

For example, why only leak 1 minute of better? Did the "leaker" get gun shy after 1 minute and stop? LOL. Yeah right. It's to make us crazy and fume for more. And the stations playing tracks, companies are so lawsuit fearful anymore they don't give a damn if its GNR, they wouldn't play it if it meant losing a dollar. Radio stations are corporations now in the U.S., they only care about money, not music. DJ's saying stuff like "the C & D letters can't stop us here at (insert radio station)!", they are just trying to appear 'anti-establishment' and cool. Thats what rock radio is.

Just chill out, enjoy the ride, and don't get worked up or string up Merck voodoo dolls. Perhaps the gold at the end of the rainbow is in sight.

  3. I doubt the leaks will pressure Axl to hurry up and release CD, if it was not planned yet. He does not allow others to force him into action, as we all know!

He will do what he wants, when he wants, although I think the public appearances and first leaks were planned. For a release coming up. After gettng IRS and better, I surprisingly lost interest in dl'ing any more of them anyway.

Come on dude! Shock the world with those tunes!

  4. Someone who knows Matt Sorum said recently 'Matt is busy with VR and the rumored GNR Axl/Slash thing...' and that was all. I assume he meant download festival. I would say where I saw this, but I don't want tons of GNR fans crushing his web page! LOL. This person would know. Someone else may have seen this also. I hope it is not true, I say bring on the new band and record.

  5. It may have happened. Remember that most people are not fanatics like us on this web site. So they might not have been scrambling for their recorders, etc. LOL. It was probably not as big a deal to them esp if they have celebrities in there on other occasions.

IMO if someone told this board a month ago that Axl would be making public appearances and would pose for commercial photographers, 99% of people on here would not have believed that either. Just don't discount everything. Things gotta happen sometime.

  6. GD why do you all have to mention Stephanie S all the time. He had that chick 15 years ago. I'm sure he has dated many chicks since.

BTW ditching the jerseys is good, even for a night. Much cooler appearance, the rings are a nice touch. And I agree these "sightings" may be planned to get his name in the public arena again. Axl and his managment know if commercial photography groups like getty images will be present at an event. Perhaps the plan is getting kicked in, and baby steps like these in the beginning make sense.

  7. who? :(

    My thought exactly

Oh well, your loss. And I guess no one else has input for the question. I guess we'll all just keep discussing who Axl dated 15 years ago or if he walked into the 7-11 in Timbuktu yesterday. Sorry to interrupt.

  8. I am listening to Storm Hymnal by Grant Lee Buffalo - I love that stuff.

Grant Lee Phillips is so talented- I always thought he and Axl could do an EP of acoustic stuff and the sounds GLP uses with the guitars like mellotrons, organs, that mellow earthy stuff. Holy smokes that would be powerful and awesome. Anyway, just dreaming. I like a lot of singers, but it wouldn't work as good as with GLP in my opinion.

Damn, to be Axl and just be able to call up someone like GLP, "hey man, let's get together this afternoon and make a couple cool songs." The pressure involved, maybe put on by himself, may prevent WAR from doing low key, casual stuff like that just for fun.

Any similar thoughts and with who?

    who? :(

GLB was an american band in the nineties, now GLP is solo. Makes records in his studio, plays all the instruments.

Or download 'honey don't think' 'lone star song' 'fuzzy' and 'testimony' - that's a good start.

  10. www.usarockfestivals.com:

Go there and click the Ozzfest picture...apparently he's revealing the headliners later this week, and its either gonna be GN'R or AC/DC.

That was pasted from another forum.

If this site is legit, he has heard info GNR might play ozzfest, the summer metal tour in the U.S. Supposedly they are broadening its appeal this year. By what he wrote, he heard GNR will play but its not confirmed, and the headliner will be them or AC/DC.

IMO this is a good thing if they did it. It would give them a chance to play in front of a lot of people, piggy back on a big bill. They, like Richard said, must "start from scratch" and this is perfect. They can pay their dues on that, cover the U.S. in three months, have the record out, and then tour on their own after that. Sort of an appetizer, eh?

Only problem I see is that on a festival they have to go on stage at a certain time every night. LOL - good luck with that. It is easy for people to call bullshit on this like everything else, but you never know.

  11. BRAVO - a gold star for you dude! For you and Dizzy to do all that is great.

    rock3

BTW my fraternity - Delta Chi - was founded at Cornell U. in 1890. Is it still there?

  12. LOL - I doubt Axl would wear that bum outfit, especially a cheap "bomber" jacket with elastic cuffs. Looks like that guy shops at Sears, give me a break.

  13. I don't doubt Slash hears things through his circle of contacts. The music biz is their life after all.

They still work with the same people that worked for GNR back in the day. For example, Adam Day worked on Snakepit's tour back in 2001, and Tom Mayhue did GNR's 2002 tour. Both of these guys were tour and production guys for GNR, check your old liner notes. These guys are people too, they talk to each other, big deal.

  14. Twice in 91-92.

And my sister saw their 1988 "Texas Jam" performance where they opened for INXS, were pissed, played like four songs and walked off stage. I think Axl mooned the crowd, can't remember exactly but not a high point for them.

I saw the first show after the St Loius riots, it was before Illusions came out. Skid Row played at 8:00, then a couple of hours rolled by, it got dark, fans started throwing stuff, chairs and so on. I turned to my friend and said "If they don't come out soon, there will be another riot tonight!" Just when I said that the lights went out, and the first notes of Jungle were played. Of course the place was so jacked up by that point, the place went berserk. Axl came out screaming in a bullet proof vest, it was awesome.

Also saw them with Metallica but the stadium show wasn't as good IMO. Too big and they were too far away. Could have seen them a third time but passed on it, now I wish I went since that was their last tour.
