I borrowed a friend's SE for a few months. It was around $500 new I think. It was garbage tbh. Not anywhere near the quality of most USA-made Gibsons I've played. I know little about PRS, and especially little about the non-USA models, so perhaps there are higher tier SEs?

Maybe he had a bottom of the barrel SE or had it set up shitty. Every one that I've picked up has been great. Also, as it has come up several times from me in this thread, I'm disgusted by the fall from grace of Gibson.

I'm looking at getting an SE as my next axe, gonna slap some EMG 57/66's in it which will give a fuller warmer tone, the stock SE pickups are a touch too bright and tinny for me. For the 6th of the price of a top of the range PRS i think spending a couple of hundred on some better pickups makes an SE massive bang for your buck.

Check out an EMG 85. I have one sitting around and I'm contemplating swapping my 81 for it. A lot better rock tone that doesn't limit you to cranked up distortion.

I had to make a really difficult decision today and kick my friend out of the band. He's been playing guitar for 14 years but was on bass and is a beginner but I was going to work with him. It's been a month and he still plays the bass like it's a guitar and insists on having the volume set to earrape with heavy distortion, all while using a guitar amp head. He's a fine guitar player, but he's just not cutting it with the bass.

Sounds like the negative stereotype of a guitar player. There's a joke I always tell people, I'm not a musician, I'm a guitar player. Though I am in fact a musician, because I can alter my playing to bass when needed. Some guitar players just can't do that, they wanna be Cliff Burton.

Hawaiian jalepenos. I used try to explain what I wanted. But it was annoying them. So I just bought a jar of jalepenos.

    Yeah pineapple.

Thanks man! It's a kick ass instrument. Played it with my band twice already and it sounds great. Darker sounding than my Les Paul, actually. Its very good for solos

And post a pic of that one. I love Japanese guitars

Got a new guitar today, it's a weird one!

X Japan is one of my favorite bands and I saw a signature model from their late guitariat Hide pop up on my local fb gear trade page. I couldnt believe one of these popped up by me. Traded my Marshall Class 5, and 3 pedals I don't use anymore. Ill miss the Class 5 but Id say it was worth it considering how rare these guitars are in the states and they are over $1000 new in Japan. Its Made in Japan and has a really fast neck.

I got a Grand Suzuki Mockingbird copy for 250 on Craigslist a while back. Suzuki's custom shop is still used to this day...by ESP's custom shop. It's an amazing guitar. I got pretty interested in Mockingbirds after that. Enjoy her.

I think that's a fair price/strategy as well. It's pretty beat, so I'd go as low as $400 if you aren't getting bites at $450-$500. But I wouldn't part with it for less than $400.

That's just a picture of the model I found online. Mine is damn near mint.

I moved to this house, 7 years ago. naturally, all my stuff moved along. hundreds of cd's, books, DVD's, 5 guitars, 2 amps, boxes full of pictures, folders upon folders of administration, and that's not even touching all the random stuff.... god knows what all.

all of that was confined upstairs in the small room that is at my disposal. the rest of the house is wife territory.

like I said, that was 7 years ago, and then i began organising everything, putting everything in a logical place.

.... well that was a goddamn fiasco. i can't find a thing anymore. i get these panic attacks where i think i lost something, and then the search of the needle in the haystack starts. like some kind of idiot I look into various boxes until i find it.... then i lose it again!

so lately i began to sort everything. i bought cheap boxes and labeled everything. box 1, box 2,.... I made an inventory of everything that's in a given box, lists with everything that's in it. so when i need to find something now, i have to look up the list, and it tells me which box i find it in. and slowly, slowly it's becoming a bit organised. organisation in my stuff is peace in my head.

anyone else having trouble keeping their stuff tidied up? how do you guys manage it? is your wife happy about it all?

Be a man and build some shelves?

I hear you. I'm still keeping all my stomp boxes. I like having both. The HX has 2 effects loops so I can plug my stomps on and control them with the HX.

Those are classics. Cool man! Do you use that with the Valvestate?

I do. Though if I end up selling that Fender I posted in the gear thread, I'm gonna get a micro tube head.

"The Italians, of course, those people course don't have their heads screwed on tight." - Richard Nixon.

I'm American of Italian-Irish descent. It does bother me how even now Italians are an acceptable punchline. Everyone associates Italians with greasy food or gangsters. We're thought of people who go "ey" and "oh" every other word.

Dude, Miser, accept it, you aren't discriminated against or oppressed.

  12. ^Both of these. My first thought was, good, fuck em. Use real ebony on a 3,000 dollar guitar, assholes. If other companies can responsibly source, so can you. Use real MOP, assholes. Check your fucking QC, assholes.

I remember talking with the old owner of my local guitar shop when they decided to stop carrying Gibbies. He said they as a company were just too big a pain in the ass to deal with. Gibson has to realize they aren't the big kid on the playground anymore, they can't just do whatever they want because people have choices now for archtop humbucker guitars.

As a lifelong Eagles fan I hate to admit it but Tony Romo does a good job.  He's actually been very positive about the Eagles in the games he's covered them this past season....I was shocked.

I like him (also an Eagles fan, after the Hawks of course). He's still fresh enough out of the game that he's still really excited to be involved in football. I remember Pats v Steelers early in the year. Steelers were driving a 4th quarter 2 minute drill. At the goal line, Rapelsberger tossed a pick on a slant up the middle. As he drew back, Romo called it as it happened. "Ben, you don't throw a slant up the middle here, it won't turn out well, don't do it, Ben!" (Pick happens, game over).
