  1. who knows if this were true. Really though, all GNR need to do is just release another album as a cohesive band/stable lineup. Dvd would be nice, but really doesn't matter too much. A remix of an album, be that of CD or previous old Gnr albums would further alienate the old fans, those on the fence and provide more fuel for Axl & New Guns bashing.

Scrap the dvd for now, scrap the remixes, release a new album of rockin tracks and lets see what this current lineup can come up with. While I'm preaching, cut the solos from the set (perhaps just one solo/jam) and keep knocking the crowd back with great GNR tunes old & new....to relax and get your breath back, do a ballad. But don't spam the setlist with the slower songs.

    heh,...easy :P

  2. "The Robin Finck/Josh Freese/Tommy Stinson/Billy Howerdel/Dizzy Reed version of the album that existed in 1998 was pretty incredible. It still sounded like GNR but there were elements of Zeppelin, Nine Inch Nails and Pink Floyd mixed in." (James Barber, Poptones, 10/16/05)

This is the real deal material imo if it exists at all anymore. josh and billy went on to create JUDITH & 3 LIBRES w/keenan

Yeah man, its a great shame we didnt get this. 98/99 would have been a great time to release an album too.

  3. believe it was 100% planned and done like this originally (minus the 'fucking').....the slight pause sounds awesome and i think it was planned like this. As someone said above, he would have added this later and it stuck and got spammed from then on. Lets face Axl performances were legendary but they were very very very similar....always....often in same part of teh stage for parts of song, doing same body language etc etc. Nothign wrong with that of course. BUt I'd say the pause was deliberate, the fucking was added...sounded good...it got spammed.

  4. I think for everyone outside of the forums, he has lost it, but has lost it for a long time. Too often he is torn apart (and its easy to do to be honest, so kinda cheap) and less focus of effort is put to how good a show might of been or how well he sounds for a guy his age etc etc etc.

Right now no one cares, and they haven't for a while. Everyone loves to see ppl who were at the top fall.

When GNR were at their prime, Axl was WAY more of an asshole (its was great fun to be honest)..he had his massive rants, caused riots, turned up late...super fucking late for that matter,...etc. But because they were at the top of their game ppl didn't criticise these faults as much eg. focus a report on the lateness of show.

I've read some lame quotes by some of the bands at Reading & Leeds slamming Axl & the band.....and maybe they are reflecting the thoughts of most ppl these days, however one thing stood out to me. Those ppl will be forgotten about in a hand full of years, and when they are 50 (or however old Axl is) they will be long forgotten and not asked to headline big festivals or anything remotely close to it.

  5. I saw these guys, and other artists making comments of this nature. ...... . . . . and one of the first things I thought was, yes, Axl and GNR are kinda taking the piss and should really put more effort into these sorta situations. But then something sort of annoyed me about the Lost Prophets comments (and those by other artists)...and comparing their comments to those that were in the audience at Leeds & Reading (who fkn enjoyed the shows despite some of them not being dickhead fan boys like us) made me contemplate things a bit more.

End of the day, regardless what you think of Axl and him and his band turning up late (even though under the GnR banner being late an hour to an hour and a half really is to be expected), end of the day is. Axl and GnR can headline rock festivals while the lead man is 50 odd years old and the band members pretty much unknown.....

WHERE THE FUCK will the Lost Prophets and co. be in even 5 years time.....when they are still young men?????????? EXACTLY....they will be nowhere....bashing out shitty tunes never even considered to headline a festival.

End of the day is GnR were late on stage, and at a festival perhaps should be a little more considerate,...but jeeeeeesus, .... anyone taking all these powder pop groups input on the situation even remotely serious need to put things in perspective. GnR are essentially led (according to the general public) by and overweight botoxed has been..........yet this overweight botoxed has been can still command an audience that is essentially booing him, and make audiences eat out the palm of his hand.....with a band that doesn't include familiar members.

This is pretty fucking cool in reality. Bands like Lost Prophets, .....even if they are successful now (i honestly don't know them nor how they are doing) will be nothing in 5 odd years time....not even considered to be a side show to a free festival. SO yes, Axl and his GnR were late and bla bla bla,....for better or worse...but shit....you fuckers won't even be considered to attend a festival, let alone headline one, in 3 odd years. So who cares.

Axl does need to sort his shit out...turn up on time and rock these fuckers out. I don't care whether he treats us fans with respect or not,...but what he needs to do (as far as I'm concerned) is behave & deliver in a fashion that highlights why we have been supporting him for this long. Thats what I want to see,....even if it results in BOOS from random ppl.....Axl needs to please those that have stuck with him, and argued for him, through thick and thin..

    ...

    .

something he doesn't seem to do.

I look forward to the day I can turn round to a bunch of ppl who take the piss and say SEE - THIS IS FKN ROCK N ROLL......THIS IS ROCKIN A FESTIVAL...THIS IS SHOWING WHO IT HE MAN.......

as apposed to defending a band i know can do this...

    hmmm..

    /rant

  6. Sounds good. Saw them back in the day a couple times.

I caught Faith No More a while ago, and that was a mean concert, similar to what you experienced by the sounds of it.

  7. lol she has probably heard the term 'soul' spammed heaps in the various trashy reality shows...ala pop idol..britains got talent etc etc.

    kinda funny actually.

This song would suck with Soul....but it has realism, aggression, venom, bite, vulnerability and sleaze. Pretty much what a song like this needs.

  8. It will be like Download, with small pockets of the audience chanting Slash shit (which is all ppl/press will focus on afterwards)...and that was just small pockets of the audience....but then as the gig progresses the crowd will be won over and fucking loving it. Just like Donnington (who to be honest, are some of the lamest festival goers....wannabe hardcore metal fans are so funny, usually the biggest pussies lol).

Donnington was in the palm of GNR's hand for the last half of the gig or so (the business end of gig).

Festivals crowds always throw shit on stage regardless of the act, Axl just has to take that on the chin and not be so much of a bitch. Swear and insult the culprit RnR style, but don't moan like whingey fool (his temporary downfall at download was this).

Leeds & Reading will be much the same, with crowd being won over by the end. Won't be many CD songs though as its a Festival which will predominantly be crowd pleaser hits.

Remember GNR at Leeds last time, and ppl didn't really care too much, happy to hear the hits but weren't against new guns or for...just...meh.

  9. No way would i say he sucks. He has a great voice, and great range...from the little I have seen of him.

I just don't think his tone and style of singing suits the GNR songs at all really. Sooooooooo maybe would say his voice sucks for GNR tunes, but he certainly is a good singer.

  10. sounds to me like it could be Axl. Its a short clip so who the fuck knows. But certainly sounds like it could be the band of "that time" (99?) dicking around with tunes. Certainly sounds like Axl to me, but really it is such a small sample who really knows. If i dedicated an evening to trying to impersonate Axl in a small segment of a song i reckon i could do it. So who knows?

I'm sick of these GNR fans who leak shit (legitimate crap or not), but leaks of 10 second clips. I mean honestly, who cares. Leak the whole thing or nothing at all, seriously. What does anyone gain from hereing a few seconds of this???????....nothing...apart from some fat overweight dickwad behind a computer fapping to the fact ppl are getting excited. We all grow older asshole, and care not about what GNR material you have. Share the whole thing or nothing.

  11. If a new track leaked, yes I would download it. However I wouldn't d/l it if a new track leaked in light of GNR confirming they have a new album and intend to release it.

So yes, if a new tracked leaked I would, ... but only if there was no evidence and realistic proof of a new album on the horizon. If GNR confirmed an album will be out "soon" and a track leaked, I would avoid downloading and save it until the album dropped.

  12. I think you'll find its nothing special as such...more likely to be what is used perhaps as advertisement/promo for upcoming shows in the various countries. We tend to get excited and blow the smallest thing out of proportion. It is most likely just promo for a tour but shared for all of use geeks to enjoy as well :)

  13. If the Azoff trying to manipulate a reuinion is true....i wonder if this has anything to do, in shape or form, with Finck leaving with CD release on the horizon. I always thought that was odd.

  14. Yea man, used to listen to them a lot when younger. Been noticing their name cropping up in conversations, forums etc etc. and i think thats to do with Jack Whites comments on It Might Get Loud. Which is cool.

They play with a hell of a lot of passion an energy.

Bass players are mean though, so don't agree with them being overrated, check out Stanley Clarke.

  15. I must admit myself i wasnt really into new GNR (or heard much about them due to the fact i didnt have internet) until a year before CD was released.

so i was still in a state of "old GNR" you could say. I wasnt really prepared for the sound of CD. in fact i scrolled through the songs on GNR's myspace page hoping "well maybe this one will sound like old GNR" and as i kept scrolling down "this one has to sound like old GNR!" and finally got to prostitute " This must be sleazy!" :rofl-lol:

but as i listened more and more, i liked it. then i loved it and still do. but it took me awhile to shake off the old Guns N Roses vibe.

thats my story with CD. i know alot of people ended up listening to it once and said the same things i said at first listen. and thats a shame.

I often feel there are a lot of younger newer fans that wish they experience & discovered GnR in their heyday...but i actually envy the new fans. Part of me wishes i could experience CD and GnR from Chinese democracy alone (and the few tours they did before it). I genuinely envy this fact as i'd love to see my thoughts on the music that way.

Anyways CD kinda rules, as does old GnR, don't need no wrestler to verify it for me :)

  16. He is great. If you like him you should also check out these blues catts; Son House, James Elmore, Blind Willie Johnson, Mississippi Fred McDowell and Big Bill Broonzy. The later is good if you like the sound of one guitar player sounding like more then one person, he has a slight folk twist at times but still good.

Got a giant collection of old blues records.

  17. Saw them last week in auckland...best show i've been to in a long time. Would recommend to anyone, even those who are not so familiar with FNM. Went with a few ppl who barely knew them and they loved it.

They put on a great show hand the set list was strong..

  18. How come at these small secret gigs Axl doesn't mind ppl taking photos and clips and stuff....but if its done in the big stadiums your camera gets nabbed, or you're told to stop?

This is how I'd like to see GnR,...don't think I'll go to another show unless I'm lucky enough to catch them in small clubs and stuff. Seen them heaps, but this is an environment that would be fucking brilliant to witness them in.

  19. Cool to see the footage. What is shows and proves is that there is a shit load of good quality proshot footage out there from some real exciting times for the band.

Hoarders, stop hoarding....just release us some cool shit from well over a decade ago. Axl's never going to release any footage like this, its down to you guys n' girls.

  20. yes you are true , they were the best rock band on the planet with the original band..and now wıth thıs band ,they are the one of the best rock bands of the world..when you compare them with metallica death magnetıc has sold 4 million copies with strong promotıon..chinese democracy has sold more than 3 million copies with a weak promotion...and they can stıll tour all through the world themself...they can still do 20.000 - 30.000 capacıty some places of the world (south america, mexıco,asia) and 15.000 - 20.000 capacıty (europe, canada, australıa) and 8.000 - 15.000 capacıty (usa) shows....so they are still big, they can still do huge arena shows all through the world...

Um, CD has sold less than 2 million copies world wide, and DM over 4 million. The reason they sell more tickets in Europe, Asia and overseas is because those people crave anything American, especially pop culture.

I can guarantee people in Europe certainly do not crave anything American, especially the pop culture. Areas of Asia are a little different of course, such as Japan, but Europe...hell no.

NewGNR will go down better throughout Europe then the States because the old guns / new guns debate is not as important (not so much in UK) but the likes of Spain, Portugal, Italy etc its not as much of an issue like in the States. Don't get me wrong its a topic at every GNR show everywhere and in every article, review etc etc etc. but in europe its not as much of an issue. So long as the crowd get a good show and some hits they know and love, they're are pretty happy.

Yep I've been to GNR shows in UK, Europe and States....and its the vibe I've generally got.
