Even though he didn't outright say "Monsters is Soul Monster" I do think it is the one reasonable conclusion:

    1.  We know for sure Marco cited 4 songs outside of the released material on Chinese:  Leave Me Alone, The General, Thyme, and Seven

    2.  He remembers working on the track Monsters but not that it was called Monsters, which means it was called something else prior.  We already know what Thyme and The General sound like, which leaves just Leave Me Alone and Seven as candidates

    3.  Leave Me Alone is confirmed by Axl to be Soul Monster

    4.  "Monsters" has both the words "soul" and "monster" in its lyrics and fits the description of Axl's own description of Soul Monster's bridge

I'm assuming that was in his forum chats in 2008? Man, I can't remember half the stuff he said back then, but I remember he did confirm some song titles.

How exactly did everyone fall into the belief that it would be digitally released on Friday? No official word from anyone yet here you all are shocked something didn’t happen that no one said would.

That's the world of Guns N' Roses fandom. It gets in heads that something nobody ever said would happen is going to happen, then they get upset when it doesn't. I followed this thread with skeptical optimism. It'd be cool if it showed up, but I definitely wasn't holding my breath.

Nobody is saying that GNR isn't a strange band. But there's no need for these weird conspiracy theories when there are much more sensible explanations for everything.

Saying that Axl hasn't recorded vocals for GNR since 1999 is a conspiracy theory because it goes against logic and everything that the band members have said themselves. Believing in Pele's theory requires believing in the notion that everyone associated with Guns N' Roses are lying to the public, concealing the fact that Axl has not recorded anything since 1999. That is a conspiracy theory.

You can come up with tons of much more sensible explanations for why GNR hasn't released music in years. One very simple explanation would be that Axl is simply very self-critical when it comes to his own music. We know that he had no problems recording vocals for Rock The Rock and Sebastian Bach's album so it would be absurd to think that he hasn't recorded vocals for GNR throughout these years. There's most likely tons of vocals recorded for GNR. But the question is how much of those vocals Axl is satisfied with. Axl might be tinkering with the lyrics year after year.

So the logical question is not whether or not there's songs with vocals. The logical question is, how many songs have vocals that Axl is satisfied with.

Based on everything that the band members have said, there's very likely at least one album worth of material with vocals. Most likely Axl has recorded much more vocals than that, but there's probably tons of lyrics and vocals that he isn't all that satisfied with.

We know he recorded vocals at least as recently as 2007/8 based on Axl's chats in December 2008. Shackler's Revenge is related to the Virginia Tech shooting which happened in April 2007. How much got recorded in 2007/8, who knows? Maybe it was just Shackler's Revenge.

There are no active threads about Bill Wyman or hairlines, so I don't think he's here right now. Did something happen though that made everyone hate him more?

Don't do it Zint, this is how Dazey will lure you into his sex dungeon.

I was at one of the Dodger Stadium gigs so selfishly I want a BluRay of that lol.  But absolutely it would be a shame if the only BluRay of 21st century GNR is one from a time that Slash and Duff weren't even there

I got Appetite for Democracy for $6.99 because the store mislabeled it as the Appetite for Destruction CD. I still haven't even opened it.

Correct. Another apparent little fun fact, both songs that he was credited on (original versions predate GNR) were the subject of a lawsuit by Chris Weber:

Weber claimed to have co-written "Shadow of Your Love" (appears as a b-side on various releases, released as a single in 2018) and "Back Off Bitch" (from Use Your Illusion I), suing the band over songwriting credits, although the case was settled and Weber did not receive songwriting credits.

It wouldn't surprise me, at least with Shadow. He's credited on 3/5 Hollywood Rose songs on The Roots of Guns N' Roses.

That Paul Huge somehow brought down Guns N' Roses doesn't make sense, The problems between Axl and Slash started much, much before Paul entered the picture. He became the focal point for Slash venting his frustration at the time. Sure, from the little we know, Axl could have handled things differently, being more tactful around Slash who was already checking out of the band, not bruise his ego on top of everything, but Paul just speeded the inevitable process up: Slash was leaving regardless.

As for someone else suggesting that Paul became a substitute for Izzy. It seems like the Axl/Paul relationship, at least as far as writing goes, predates Axl/Izzy. Axl and Paul had Shadow of Your Love written already in 1982, before Axl had settled for good in Los Angeles. In Axl's mind, where a band can be a fluid thing with people coming and going, bringing Paul in to help write music wasn't such a huge thing and aligned with how it had been done previously (just look at song credits, everyone and their mother have been writing songs for GN'R), but to Slash, who have a more traditional understanding of a "band" it was unforgivable to "force" Paul into the band (especially after Slash's suggestions were shut down), and it is hard for me to not be sympathetic to Slash here. It was a case of Axl belittling Slash by deciding how things should be.

Still, I don't think Paul was meant to be a touring musician, and he also didn't last long when he got the chance.

And I don't think one quote from a guy with a score to settle "says it all". It just provides one opinion. I would think Duff would have phrased thigs differently today. What we lack are quotes from the other guys who got to work with Paul over an extended period, and quotes from Paul himself. Then we can say we got it all. Still, it is quite possible Paul didn't handle the situation well, either, and maybe he wasn't completely attuned to the emotional chaos he entered and didn't play his cards with tact and empathy, but this is just speculation.

He played what, four shows? I'm thinking HOB 01/01/01, Rio, and the two December 2001 shows, right?

  8. Not Queen exactly, but my best friend and I are going to see Q+AL for the second time this November. Best tickets I've ever gotten to a show.

  9. I just finished Young Sheldon. That show is so much better than Big Bang Theory.

I re-watched (and had my wife watch with me) the CBS version of Stephen King's The Stand. It's so awful compared to the book and the 1994 miniseries. I'm hoping to get her to re-watch that one with me since we finished the new one.

I'm currently re-watching Malcolm in the Middle until I find something else that catches my eye.
