  1. First let me say that I agree with a lot of the albums on the list and obviously I am glad to see Appetite up there. But, yet again, one of the greatest guitarists alive out there (and an awesome band if I do say so) was missed - Vernon Reid of Living Colour. What album you say? Time's Up might edge out Vivid - it'd be a hard one to decide but somewhere one of those albums should have been on that list!

  2. At the New York shows, at the back of the stage, white banners were hung with a new GNR logo. The logo was the acronym GNR, but the letters were made to look like Chinese characters. Personally I thought that this logo was pretty damn cool. Does anyone have a clear picture of it, or a graphic already made of it? Would be awesome if you could post it or email to me. Thanx!

  3. I know that this is not the right area for this, but that area seems to be down right now so I am posting here. Feel free to move it to the appropriate section. Buyer bailed on me so I have 2 floor tickets for tomorrow's (Sunday) show that I am looking to get rid of for a total of $120 ($60 each) - way less than face value. Please PM, email or call me ASAP day or night. 631-682-1381. Thank you

Okay - one of those tickets is now gone. I have one still available. Have a friend who wants to go? Let me know ASAP!

  4. It's called marketing people.

Axl appears on Eddie Trunk and creates another frenzy. If you're a smart business person and you own a radio station, you would cash in on this moment. Get people to listen to your radio station by spreading a "rumour" that you have newest GnR "song". Well, everyone gets all excited thinking that its the latest "single" and listen all day to their radio station. The advertising fees quadruples and the radio station is laughing to the bank. Now o f course, they ain't lying because there are like four new GnR songs, except they aren't the official releases.

If the album is coming out in the fall, why would a single be officially released today?

If anything, it might just be a "soundtrack single". In which case, a song like IRS might suffice.

Have to agree with knightrider here. IF any of this is true, and I do say IF, it is probably a song on the DaVinci code soundtrack (of course, providing that rumor is true). I can't figure out why the song IRS for that movie, but then again I couldn't really see any new GNR songs on that soundtrack. I'll say this - it does give me more hope that Axl was fuckin' with all of us on the radio and that the album is actually coming out soon. We'll see!

The Da Vinchi code soundtrack has already been revealed and there are no GN'R songs on it. It might even be available for purchase already, though I'm not sure.

The song on a movie soundtrack is a possibility though. If GN'R did hand out the song to some stations it's obvious they wanted it to be played. I just don't feel that I.R.S. warrants being the first single on one of the most anticipated rock albums of all-time, certainly not when it's not even the best song we've heard so far. I think the Guns camp themselves (Merck if I'm not mistaken) said it isn't even in the top ten. Therefore, the only other option would be a soundtrack single - that makes a lot of sense.

Wonder why it hasn't been played yet though, if it was provided to stations like two months ago. Is there a fairly big movie that was delayed for several months from the start of this year? Maybe that's it.

Pretty sure that only the score for the movie has been released and available for purchase. Some movies (like Forrest Gump) have a score soundtrack and then another soundtrack featuring songs (by artists) from the movie. Which is not to say that this is the case with the Da Vinci Code, but maybe.

  6. :book: Well, I emailed the seller and here's what they had to say:

    Hi there,

Both the cds are sealed in the case with security stickers.

The cds are all originals sold for the asian market.

    regards best-brass

I seem to remember a 2 disc set being sold, but could not find anything on the net. I have to agree with pulpy though. Even if it was legit, where's nightrain, it's o easy, etc.? Then again it is the asian market - maybe those songs were big over there (never released as singles though).

  7. I have 2 tickets available for the 12th and 2 available for the 14. Looking to sell for $75 each - that's the ticket plus TM fees - nothing added on top. We can arrange a meet in the city the day of the show or I'm open to other suggestions. Buy 1, buy 2, buy 3, buy 4, whatever. Let me know ASAP. Thanx!

PAY ATTENTION TO THIS: No tickets are available anymore. Sorry. Try eBay - hard to believe but I've seen reasonable prices on there. Good luck!

  8. When The UYI albums came out, they issued special versions in Australia. They were called "Celebration Pack". There was one for UYI 1 and one for UYI 2. Each contained a T-shirt and a picture disc that was gold on the back. Slightly different pic discs for each one. So, the REAL version would come with the T-shirt, but it's still cool to get just the cd.

  9. I know that I am new to postings here but I assure you I have been a longtime GNR fan. However, except for a few songs, I have still bot been able to figure out who wrote the lyrics to a particular song, versus who wrote the music, etc. Does anyone know a site that has this info for each song? Thanx

  10. Well I can speak on this from very recent personal experience. Bottom line is this - finally filed a claim through Paypal - I would recommend to always use Paypal for outside the states - unless it's a highly trusted private seller or commercial vendor like EIL. Anyways, I only had 80% of the amount refunded - Paypal claims that's all they could get. Still, not bad. Yeah, check the feedback - not just the amont of negatives - read them - sometimes it's not such a negative thing at all - often times it has been worked out. Another thing to remember - sometimes you gotta take a chance in life. For example, if I saw the box set Top Hat Volume 1 or 2 being sold by a seller with 90% positives, I would still buy it. Get what I'm saying here?

  11. Hello all. I am looking for 2 (will take 1) tickets for Wednesdays show. I can trade for tickets to Friday or Sunday' show. Or, if you want, trade 1 Friday ticket for 1 Wednesday ticket and 1 Sunday ticket for 1 Wednesday ticket. Whatever combination works for you. I am talking straight trade here. Anyone interested please email or PM me ASAP. (email is ttroccoli@hotmail.com) Thanks!

  12. Stop dreaming and start using your head. The real possibility here (for an orig. member) is Izzy Stradlin. As far as we know, all is well in the Velvet Revolver camp, and do you really think Scott Weiland would't blow his top if Slash played. Not that Scott Weiland is the head of the band or anything, but I don't think Slash would risk all that just for a one-off with Axl. Also, Izzy is planning on a box-set release and what better way to generate some publicity? Personally though, I think any of the original members (yes, any including Adler) would be freakin sweet!

  13. Well, here we are yet again on the eve of the launch of a new tour and, quite possibly, a new album. And the level of bullsh*t has never been thicker. Yes, although I don't have one, presale passwords have been given out to GNR fans which is good. (Note: I AM a loyal fan, just never had time to deal with forums, etc. although I have wanted to - hence I did not subscribe to HTGTH, though I check it every day; decided to finally take time to post this in the forum). First, let's talk about the presale. How did asshol@s (aka ticket scalpers) get a hold of the password(s)? It's possible that one of them is a GNR fan and had always subscribed to HTGTH - but they would truly not be a big fan since they are now selling the password and also since they scalp tickets in general. Likely that a true fan was selling the password and a scalper bought it. But none of this really matters - what matters is why the need for a presale at all. Not really sure of the business need for one, but from a fan standpoint it's so that true fans can get tickets and not be burned by scalpers. But really, since most tickets are bought through the internet nowadays anyway, how do scalpers always and without fail get a hold of tickets (sometimes even top-notch tickets too)? This may sound nutty but there must be a conspiracy (read business deal here) between the scalpers and Ticketwhore. I know that before there was mention of a presale, right after I saw the post on HTGTH I checked eBay just for kicks. Sure enough 2 postings were already up (there are way more now), and each advertised that 16 seats were available. How can someone boast this claim unless they knew they were getting tickets? Part of the blame for all of this of course could fall on GNR themselves. Why play Hammerstein - why not a bigger venue, maybe even MSG? I know that they are warm-up shows, but you could still play somewhere bigger than Hammerstein (based on availability of course). Sure it would be great to see this band in such an intimate venue, but then you should have been a fan way back in the day and you would have been able to see that. I wasn't a huge fan in 86/87 (like most of us - admit it) because I hadn't yet heard the music (not until 1988). And I can live with the fact that I have to see the band in a stadium now. But my friends there is light at the end of the tunnel - there has been speculation about whether or not shows will be added (Tuesday and Thursday) and I have just received word from Lisa Schamis at Hammerstein that pending sellout (which is inevitable in NYC) these two nights will be added. Bottom line is that there needs to be some way to ensure (can't go based on honesty - need some kind of system) that fans get the best seats, not scalpers or corporations, etc.

Lastly, there's the album - will it be out or not? A lot of people seem to think that there's a great possibility it will not come out. Sure there's that possibility - there's a possibility the sun will not rise tomorrow but I wouldn't bet on it. A lot of people think this based on the fact that the 2002 tour came and went (the shows that were played anyway) without an album being released. I could be wrong here, but I don't remember GNR or their mgmt indicating that one would be. Lots of people think that just because a band is touring that an album must be out. Maybe the band just wanted to take a break from the studio, maybe they wanted to try out new songs (which they did), maybe mgmt wanted to make some $. Of course, this could be the same thing that's happening now but I don't think so. I think the reason that Axl is spending all this time in NY (the concerts at Hammerstein, the club appearances, the Sopranos thing) is that the album is being mastered in NYC (the last thing to do). But, only time will tell. Of course, why hasn't GNR or their mgmt posted anything on their official website? Two reasons I think - one, they're asshol@s, in true GNR fashion. The other reason I think is that they have unofficially adopted HTGTH as their website (kudos to Jarmo) now, hence no need to run the other site. Anyways, I say enough bitching about the presale at least. This has happened before (and with other bands) and will happen again (with other bands too) until someone single-handedly destroys Ticketwhore. Even that won't matter since another conglomerate will take over (Clear Channel likely). Any yes, the shit with EBay will still happen, because they don't care anymore either. Case in point: remember those 2 listings I told you about? They advertised a price of $250 each (at least - can't remember exactly) which is way above eBay’s own standards for scalping tickets for a NY show. EBay used to enforce this kind of thing, but ever since they became huge (and hence the $ involved became huge) they don't care. After all, they make more $ on a $250 ticket being auctioned than a $100 ticket.

Also (while I'm at it) the really fuck#d up thing about the presale is this (read closely and carefully): it does not guarantee you better seats than anyone else who gets a ticket. It would be nice at least if there was a section up close that you got into with the presale. You might argue true, but at least with the presale you can get a ticket. I say not true, as has already been discussed in the preceeding paragraphs. Something needs to change. I think that their needs to be a professionally run fan club similar to (and some of you are gonna hate me for this) the Metallica fan club. Regardless of what you want to say about Metallica the band, the fan club members get best seats (GA excluded - fan club members can still get GA but have to compete with others for position near stage). And you old-school GNR fans will like this - long time club members get better seats and are more likely to reap the fringe benefits (backstage passes, etc.). True, a scalper could become a member, but at least they'll have to pay the price for joining, and like I said, long-time members will still get better seats than the scalpers. Anyways, just my 2 cents. Would love to hear comments/concerns.
