  1. I rewatched both parts of the finale. So much to digest. IF there is a season 4 (and rumblings are that there may be an announcement around the time Mark Frost's book "The Final Dossier" comes out in October 31st) I hope to fuck that all of the these subplots will be resolved. I was pissed as hell last night, as ALOT of other people were. Now I'm in the "like it but extremely confused" camp. Julee Cruise got on Facebook last night and tore Lynch a new one for truncating her screen time. I agree with her because she is an iconic figure. I love Lynch and his films but when you are promised a satisyfying ending that would wrap up everything (this is from his own mouth) I feel the anger, for now, is justified.

All of the other unresolved plotlines aside I found an article on Indiewire that should explain, at least, the Cooper/Diane/Laura storyline.

    http://www.indiewire.com/2017/09/twin-peaks-ending-explained-answers-part-18-finale-david-lynch-1201872863/

The final hour of “Twin Peaks: The Return” ended David Lynch’s series on a baffling, brilliant high by returning to the show’s most important figure: Laura Palmer. Dale Cooper went back to the past to stop Laura’s murder, but his attempt was corrupted by Judy, an “extreme negative force” who plucked Laura from the timeline we’re most familiar with and put her somewhere else entirely. Cooper ended up preventing Laura’s death, as her corpse on the beach from the pilot episode disappeared, but he didn’t save her. In fact, he only prevented her death in one timeline.

Wherever Judy sent Laura was where Lynch decided to set the last half hour of the entire series, and it’s here where most viewers were left scratching their heads. It’s impossible to know exactly what this setting was, but it’s safe to assume it was some kind of alternate dimension created by Judy to ensure Laura’s demise. Cooper may have saved her in one timeline, but that doesn’t mean Judy was done with her.

In one of the earliest scenes in “The Return,” the Fireman told Cooper in the Red Room something that proved to be one of the biggest clues to making sense of the end: “Remember 430. Richard and Linda. Two birds, one stone.” Nearly 18 hours later, this line finally paid off.

For viewers paying close attention, 430 was the mile number in which Cooper and Diane hit before being taken to other side of whatever dimension Judy created. Richard and Linda were the new names of Cooper and Diane, respectively. When Cooper read the letter Diane had left him, she signed the note “Linda” and addressed him as “Richard.” Lastly, Gordon Cole revealed at the start of Part 17 that “two birds, one stone” was the last thing Cooper said to him before his disappeanrce. In the words of Gordon Cole:

Now the last thing Cooper told me was, ‘If I disappear like [Major Briggs and Phillip Jeffries], do everything you can to find me. I’m trying to kill two birds with one stone.’

So what does all of this mean? We may never know for certain, but the Fireman must have known that Judy was powerful enough to create another timeline so that Laura couldn’t easily be saved. The Fireman was basically giving Cooper the back-up plan should his first attempt not prove successful. By entering the alternate dimension (one stone), Cooper had the chance to save Laura and defeat Judy (something that was no longer possible in the show’s traditional timeline). Of course, the last shot of the series proved Cooper didn’t succeed.

The alternate timeline proved to be a place stuffed with ominous easter eggs, all foreshadowing an ending in which good would not prevail. Some were obvious (the diner Cooper/Richard stops at is named Judy’s), while others required a deeper level of “Twin Peaks” knowledge. Cooper found Laura Palmer in the new dimension, only she knew herself as Carrie Page from Odessa, Texas. Her home had a figurine of a white horse, which is what Sarah Palmer saw on the nights before Laura and Maddie were killed.

Even more telling was what happened when Cooper/Richard and Laura/Carrie finally made it back to Twin Peaks and knocked on the door of what should’ve been Laura’s home. Sarah Palmer didn’t answer but Alice Tremond did, and she told the pair that she bought the house from a Mrs. Chalfont. These last names should sound familiar, as they trace back to Black Lodge entities (Ms. Chalfont was at the trailer park where Theresa Banks died, and she later appeared to Laura as Ms. Tremond and gave her a painting that acted as a portal from her bedroom to the lodge).

These easter eggs all suggest one thing: The timeline may be different, but the age old battle between good and evil for Laura Palmer’s soul continues. Wherever Judy brought Laura, it was still a place where the Black Lodge influence could be felt and it was still a place where Cooper arrived on orders of the Fireman to save her. It’s a different timeline that’s somehow, at its core, exactly the same.

Before Phillip Jeffries allowed Cooper to enter the past in Part 17, his smoke took the shape of an infinity sign. By the end of Part 18, it’s clear Jeffries was warning Cooper that to enter the past would be to enter a never-ending loop in which good battles evil across timelines and planes of reality. Evil triumphs good in the past when Judy eliminates Laura from the timeline. Evil triumphs good in the alternate dimension when Carrie Page reawakens as a horrified Laura Palmer. But good will keep trying nonetheless; that’s the optimism of David Lynch.

Part 8 turned the scope of “Twin Peaks” into a grand fight between evil (Judy appears to be the monster figure that gave birth to BOB) and good (the Fireman gives birth to Laura Palmer, the only being that can defeat the evil created by the atomic bomb). Part 18 ended the series by saying that fight never ends. It’s destined to keep repeating itself; but as long as we have Dale Cooper’s in the world, good will always have a shot. Lynch’s finale ultimately makes this grand statement understandable and unavoidable; it’s what “Twin Peaks” is all about. Here’s hoping we get to see Cooper have another shot at evil in the future.

  2. My initial reaction....

    WHAT A COCKSUCK!!!

The ending of season 2 was a cliffhanger and this ending was a down note. None of these subplots were ever resolved. This proves why this should have been a 9 episode series like it was intended to be.

    So instead of Cooper

    Spoiler

being trapped in The Black Lodge he's now stuck in the past.

Just got this week's Entertainment Weekly Magazine and it had a small article about the new Twin Peaks.

It also stated there wouldn't be another season. The show wraps up with a 2 hour finale on September 3 so set your dvrs.

    I will miss this show.

I'm so glad that you hung around for the long haul especially after saying you didn't like it after a few episodes in:P To me this season gave me everything I wanted but not in the way I expected it.

As far as getting another season I want to say that back in 1999/2000 Lynch said Twin Peaks was " as dead as a door nail" so never say never.

Wasn't Phillip Jefferies, Gordon's partner. did they ever say what happened to him? I watched the original series and only saw him visit the FBI office, but disappeared.

I just know Gordon said Phillip was his partner and I think he may have killed someone before. It's sad that David Bowie is dead now because maybe we could have learned more about this character.

They were partners but Jeffries disappeared in 1987 while in Buenos Aires. It was during one of the blue rose cases. The scene with Bowie in the theatrical version of Fire Walk With Me was truncated. It was much longer with showing the Buenos Aires location, more dialog with Jeffries talking about the room above the convenience store (along with more footage of Black Lodge residents in the convenience store). And Jeffries getting zapped back to Buenos Aires. I know they had to cut down the film because Lynch was only allowed 2 hours and 15 minutes but I would have tried to find some way to keep all of that in.

Are you talking about their first case where they saw the woman in the motel room dead and her tulpa in the corner?

Not having Bowie alive doesn't change a thing because of what was already in the new script. There was nothing more to learn about the character. Instead of using a different person and recasting him they just went with something that looks like a tea kettle and basically said he evolved LOL

    Help me out friends;

The Woodsmen are "agents of the Black Lodge right?"

If Phillip Jeffries was indeed inside that bell/tower/phone/??? is he a prisoner of The Woodsmen?

Are The Woodsmen working with Jeffries?

    Is Jeffries evil?

Do The Woodsmen only answer to the "Gotta light?" character?

Also I'm losing track of all of the Roadhouse side story characters and I think the timeline of parts of Part 15 were out of sync again.

    1. All signs point to yes since it's been established that the convienince store and the Black Lodge are connected. In Fire Walk With Me there was that painting of the doorway that Mrs Tremond gave Laura and told her it would look nice on her wall. When Laura fell asleep and you see a POV shot of her going through a room with doors, the wallpaper and door are the same from the convienience store. When the grandson snapped his fingers you could see a bright light coming from his side and fire sounds. The next shot was of The Black Lodge with the whole "don't take the ring Laura" line Cooper told her.

    2. Jeffries wasn't inside anything, he evolved into a teapot (or something similar). THEY brought Evil Cooper to HIM so that indicates the hierarchy

    3. I think they do. They are pretty much the only lodge inhabitants left.

    4. Obviously. He sent Ray to kill Evil Cooper. Just cause one evil person kills another evil person it's still murder just the same :)

    5. He has only been seen in Part 8, which was the flashback episode. I think his character was just foreshadowing to introduce "The Woodsmen are skull crushing killers".

Everytime they show that roadhouse I don't know who the hell those people are or what's going on.

the band last night was pretty good. That Asian girl just screaming was weird.

Oh, I was so happy with Ed and Norma! So sad about the log lady.

Can't wait to hear the conversation with Richard and bad Cooper.

Damn does Cooper have to eat that damn chocolate cake every week. Makes my mouth water just looking at him eating that cake. lol

Audrey and her husband are so damn annoying. I was so hoping she would get out the damn door. She was making me crazy.

Sometimes I think those scenes at The Roadhouse are kind of like asides. In one way I see them as like how Invitation To Love was in the original first season. They may not tie into the main narrative but are more of a commentary of what present day Twin Peaks is like. Then again I think all of these random characters all tie into the Chinese designer drugs story arc. That was something that was brought up between Frank Truman and Bobby (in episode 4) when he asked them if they had the trails set and Bobby says "every known trail is covered".

I was happy too with Ed and Norma. I think we all got swerved with that last episode LOL.

The stuff with The Log Lady was a punch in the gut. My mom died of cancer, a year and a half ago, as well and back in the day me and her used to watch Twin Peaks. One TV and nothing but rabbit ears for signal reception :) The speech The Log Lady gave was poignant and she gave out her last clue (the one under the moon on Blue Pine Mountain). I like the way the confrence room was shot with low lighting and shadow when Hawk came in and announced her death. No hysterics, no over acting. To me it looked like Kimmy Robertson (Lucy) broke character.

DougieCoop loves his chocolate cake. What a hell of a way to jar Coop's memories back by using Sunset Boulevard (which is one of Lynch's favorite movies) It was something I never saw coming.

I hope that something very pivitol happens in the Audrey/Charlie arc. I don't see how this can be built up with no pay off. The theories about how she's still in a coma for 25 years is completely stupid because she is aware of outside characters who do exist. I hope to God that this isn't going to be a Shutter Island situation. There's got to be heavy amounts of treuama Audrey has went through so I don't find it annoying but more as pitiful. It's almost like she is agoraphobic.

I read this theory somewhere that says Judy is Major Briggs. Because Briggs first name is Garland. Judy + Garland = Judy Garland. The actress who plays Dorothey in Wizard of Oz. I think there are a bunch of references of Wizard of Oz in Twin Peaks and they say Lynch is a huge fan of that film as well.

I hope that Michael Anderson stops being crazy and makes up with Lynch and they will continue to make another season.

Never gonna happen. He called Lynch a child rapist pedophile so fuck him. That douchebag has burned every single bridge. Storywise The Little Man has evolved, just like how Phillip Jeffries has evolved into a giant teapot. For that to happen he would have to regress into his original form. I also think this is going to be a one off season. Think about how many years it took both Lynch and Frost to write this and film it. There's no way they would be able to do a season and have it prepared by next year. At least the door is open to Lynch/Frost by Showtime if they ever want to come back. I'd be more interested in a new film than a season 4.

I would be surprised if it was somebody else.

    I'm calling it now and

    Spoiler

Naido is Judy. When Cooper was in that purple room with her in episode 3 the camera started acting all haywired. It was nothing but weird edits. She and Cooper climb the ladder and they are in space. There is a "machine" that is shaped like those machines in The White Lodge. She pulls the lever, gets electrocuted, and falls through space. When Evil Cooper is asking Jeffries about Judy and he answers the phone those same weird edits from episode 3 occur. Also when Andy is sent back from The White Lodge in episode 14 he wraps Naido up and says she is very important and that there are people who want her dead. He also says not to mention this to anyone. Plus she is making these chattering monkey noises which could tie back to Fire Walk With Me when there is a monkey who says "Judy". Also it was revealed that if Fire Walk With Me had been successful then Judy would have been Josie Packard's (Joan Chen) sister.

sometimes I just try to watch this show without trying to think too much about what's going on? lol It hurts my brain.

Audrey is way annoying now. I loved her character in the original series. I wish Billy Zane would make an appearance and take her away from that troll looking husband.

If there won't be any more seasons of Twin Peaks, then I do hope Lynch ties up all the loose ends and gives most characters a happy ending.

I want good Cooper to kill bad Cooper and head back to Twin Peaks and meet up with Gordon too.

Yeah this isn't a show where you can turn your brain off. Never has been and never will.

You sure do have an thing for Billy Zane for some reason LOL. But at least we know who Richard's mother is and that Evil Coop punked his ass. That conversation on the road between them two should be interesting.

To your point of tying up loose ends, I believe there will be some semblance of tying up loose ends but we're not going to get every 100% closed. Lynch has never worked in that way but I bet there will be a happy ending because Lynch is an optimist.

Oh they certainly do sir!  Did you grow up in the punk era or...?

As far as the dates in the movie go it would be towards the tail end of it. Probably around '88 when I was 14. I had some friends who were skaters who got me into it. I got to see Grohl when he was the drummer for Scream. Punk really didn't exist in the town I grew up in even though I was like 30 miles from DC. There were more death metal and crossover thrash bands in my town so I would have to go to DC to see punk bands.

  9. WOW!!! This is some really fucked up news.

'Twin Peaks' Actor Jeremy Lindholm Arrested, Charged with Attempted Murder for Girlfriend Beating

    0817-jeremy-lindholm-arrested-twin-peaks-2.jpg

Actor Jeremy Lindholm -- who recently appeared on an episode of "Twin Peaks: The Return" -- is accused of viciously beating his girlfriend and trying to kill her ... and is facing an attempted murder charge.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops in Spokane, WA responded to a call from a local business about a man assaulting a woman with a bat, and when officers arrived ... we're told Lindholm was trying to flee with the bat still in his hand. Our sources say he surrendered in the alley and was taken into custody.

Based on witness statements and surveillance footage ... cops believe the victim's life was in danger. We're told Lindholm's attack as an "extremely violent assault" -- the video allegedly shows him striking his girlfriend on the head and body with the bat over a dozen times and also choking her. He allegedly said he wanted to kill her too.

The actor's facing multiple charges along with attempted second-degree murder, including second-degree assault. He's being held at the Spokane County Jail on $100k bond.

Lindholm's girlfriend was transported to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

I have no idea, but maybe it was? I don't know who that guy was, but how annoying was he? lol

The police left that poor Asian woman alone in the cell. I wonder if she knows what the hell is going on?

I just love whenever Gordon calls someone and yells in the phone and everyone he calls has to hold the phone away from their ears. lol

Billy is this guy. He was the one whose truck was stolen by Richard when he hit that kid

The Asian woman (Naido) I don't think is of this reality seeing that when we first see her in Part 3 she's in a room and then her and Cooper climb a ladder which goes into space. She gets electrocuted and falls through space. My conclusion is that, since Andy was holding her gently, he got sent to The White Lodge. Remember "love" opens the gate to the White Lodge.

Cole is always gonna be Cole LOL

  11. ‘Twin Peaks’: No Talks For Another Season But “Door’s Always Open To David Lynch,” Showtime Bosses Say

    http://deadline.com/2017/08/twin-peaks-no-second-season-showtime-david-lynch-david-nevins-tca-1202144491/

It took more than 27 years for Twin Peaks to return to television. With the 18-episode followup season nearing the end of its run on Showtime, could there be another installment of David Lynch’s cult series?

“It was always intended to be one season,” Showtime president and CEO David Nevins told Deadline at the Showtime TCA party. “A lot of people are speculating but there’s been zero contemplation, zero discussions other than fans asking me about it.”

That said, “the door’s always open to David Lynch, whether that would lead to another season, I don’t know if he wants to do it,” said Showtime programming president Gary Levine, who was ABC’s executive on the original Twin Peaks series and played a key role in bringing the revival to Showtime. “This was a Herculean effort. I’m not sure if any director has ever done 18 hours in a row of a series… It’s remarkable what he achieved,  fans are liking it and for me that’s what’s satisfying.”

The 18-episode Twin Peaks sequel, which had a rocky three-year road to the small screen, was written by the original series’ creators Lynch and Mark Frost and entirely directed by Lynch, with Kyle MacLachlan reprising his role. It has been a modest linear ratings performer but has driven record Showtime streaming sign-ups.

  12. http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/discuss/twin-peaks-part-13/episode-14-accidently-played-on-german-tv-beware-of-spoilers/

Episode 14 Accidently Played on German TV (BEWARE OF SPOILERS)

Just wanted to warn everyone that the channel Sky Ticket Germany played episode 14 instead of 13 today (well they allowed 14 to be on demand while labeling it as 13). This has been confirmed through quite a few people on Twitter already etc.

Several topics about this on the Twin Peaks subreddit and some screenshots from the episode have already began making circulation. Might be best to stay off general twitter as this goes on.

So PLEASE be careful on the internet. The episode might be ripped soon and there will be a lot of misinformation and spoiling to be had. Just wanted everyone to know. Stay prudent.

    Did anybody enjoy Part 13?

    Absolutely

    Spoiler

Only David Lynch can begin an episode where The Mitchem Brothers, Dougie, and the three coctail waitresses (Mandie, Sandie, and Candie) are doing some sort of conga line in the Lucky 7 Insurance Company. Funny as hell.

Sonny Jim gets a tricked out jungle gym set and Janey-E gets a brand new car.

Evil Cooper arrives at The Farm and we get a scene in like Over The Top with the arm wrestling. Cooper, always being the badass breaks the guys arm and then decks him so hard that his nose goes right into his face and kills him. Also Richard was at The Farm and sees Evil Cooper and looks like he is in awe.

Ray also finally gets plugged and tells Evil Coop he got the Owl Cave ring while he was in prison. From evidence in the episode I think it was Phillip Gerard (The One Arm Man) who gave Ray the Owl Cave ring He also tells Cooper that Phillip Jeffries, or someone he thinks is Jeffries, is the one who sent Ray to kill Evil Cooper. We don't have confirmation yet though. We do know that Ray's soul ends up in The Black Lodge.

Tom Sizemore's character tris to poison Dougie but don't go through with it. I have a feeling that Mr. Todd is going to end up killing him in the next episode.

The cops, in South Dakota ran Dougie's prints and find out he's an FBI agent and that he escaped prison 2 days ago. This is going to be one hell of a thread to solve.

Hutch and Shantel are on their way to Vegas to take out Dougie.

Also I'm glad that Big Ed finally shows up but I was just so heartbroken that Norma is with somebody else now. The RR Diner is now franchised which explains why she was doing all of that paperwork in previous episodes.

Loved the Dr. Jacoby and Nadine interaction.

Sarah Palmer is abviously a alcoholic and you can see the ashtrays are just overflowing with cigarette butts. That boxing match that continously loops and has that glitch to it weirded me out but also makes me realize there are Black Lodge spirits nearby. Very Poltergeisty

Poor Audrey though. It looks like that bank explosion has really truamatized her. She's bringing up that she doesn't know where The Roadhouse is and mentions Ghostwood. There is something very wrong with her.

James plays "Just You And I" at The Roadhouse. It was funny that they used the old version that he recorded with Donna and Madeline from the original series.

Then the episode concludes with Big Ed at his Gas Farm looking so dejected and sad.

Overall I like episodes like these. It now seems that since the original cast is starting to intercat with each other the pace is about to amp up. We only have 5 left to go.

I haven't seen this show yet, it's been on my to do list.

Is it possible to watch "The Return" without having seen the original series from the 90's first, or should I just watch the 90's series first?

Start with the 90's version first, then the movie Fire Walk With Me, and then go to The Return. You can't go into The Return cold without some prior context from the original series. But I gotta warn you the tone between the original series, the movie, and this new season are all different beasts.
