Enjoyable read, excellent points, basically the same old song but I can feel your frustration 'cause I'm feeling exactly the same. I've already lost interest in following this tour closely, and I will not a give a shit about that album or any other Gn'R related news after 2006 if there is no album this year. If the guy can't deliver, what's there to follow or support? I already saw this band 4 times this summer and I have no interest in seeing them again without an album. It's the same old set, same old secrecy and same old manners and quite frankly I'm so damn tired of it.

When people say negative shit about Axl,

Many people here express sympathy for Axl, and bash those that bash him. But I, personally, feel sympathy for the band. Many of the members have been in this for the long haul, especially Robin, who's been a part of GN'R since 1996. Many of them have stuck by this band, in it's darkest hours. That shows dedication. For someone like Robin, I think it goes beyond the paycheck.

Imagine waiting ten years to put out a product, a product that will be partly yours, that will have your creative stamp and influence on it, only to face delay after delay. I'm sure the band would've been happy to get the album out years ago. For many of them, it'll be the first recording or creative experience that they've truly been a part of, and truly had a hand in creating.

It must be hard for them to go out, every night, playing someone else's songs that they didn't create and probably don't even like, when they know they could be playing a set of songs that they created. It must be so frustrating to not be able to play their own songs and knowing that if they refused to play the old songs, they'd be fired. The album is called Chinese Democracy; ironically, the band that created it is in a state of communism.

It also must be hard for them to call themselves members of a band when they're not allowed to act as such; they cannot talk about their work or their life in the band to any major sources. While they could create their identity and become (in the public's eyes) more than replacements, they are forced to stand in the shadow of their predecessors.

I think for at least some of the band, they've stuck by this project for the same reasons a lot of us have: An eventual pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. A lot of us here have stuck by Axl and the band with the hope that our wait will result in what could be one of the best Rock records ever produced; I think the band sticks by for the same reason; the prospects of an eventual payoff for their wait, both commercially, creatively and personally.

So before you bash the band, think of it this way, in a lot of ways, they're in the same boat as us, all being driven for nearly a decade by Captain Rose--but to what destination, and when? And the question at the end of this journey will be: Was it worth it? A question that I think will be asked, aloud and in our thoughts, by the band and ourselves when all is said and done.

to be fair I think Axl was planning on sold out arena's because it was the chinese democracy tour but because he hasnt dropped the record yet it sort of backfired. It worked in Europe though

I must say that the attendance to the greek concert was massive, allthough the promotion of this concert was really poor here. We got informed about this just a month before the gig and just by a radio station. No posters, no tv spots, nothing! Until I got my ticket I couldn't believe it.

man, when vr came here to play, i went to both shows. both sold out.. there were posters everywhere, the music magazines promoted it, and it had a tv commercial about it, months prior.. thats how its done.

oh and the radio station was giving away free tickets for some competition also..

Well I saw them on the UYI tour and in '02 and this year at Donnington. The best I saw them was probably this year even compared with the UYI tour but I do have to agree that keeping the GnR name is a bit of a joke to be honest. Love the new band, loved the old band, but without Slash the name should've definately been changed. It would have avoided a whole lot of trouble and confusion I bet

Well fuck,learn the history of G N' R and you will find out that Slash wasn't the one who started G N' R. Axl has all the rights to use the name because he is the only original member left who was in the band from their first start.

the only people who really really know about all this speculation and rumors is us.. the people on the net.. i live in sydney australia, and if i speak about gnr to anyone here, people usually say "are they still together?, i thought they broke up ages ago?" poor marketing and promotion on mercks behalf.. he's a lazy slacker when it comes to gnr's upcomming album.. and i think here in australia the fact of the matter is.. nobody gives two shits about speculation, and rumors.. excluding the people in this forum who are dying to know about the album.

Up to a degree you are right... however, I live in Iceland and most people here know that Axl is touring again and that he has a new band (there is a story about him regularly in the papers). But yeah, they should promote everything about the band better... starting with concerts and then work their way up.

yeah, i wouldnt know how the rest of the world is working.. i think the only thing here that ppl know about axl recently is that. he was in jail for biting a security guard., which is probaly the wrong way to get good recognition, unless your names hannibal lecter. =)

That news came out of the managers mouth. Apparently the album was in the final stages of mixing. It also quoted Sebastian Bach saying that it was an incredible album and that he couldn't get it out of his head. Sounds like it will be an awsome album

Who are the fans to say when a CD, that they know almost nothing about, is ready for release. Sure, Axl said it would come out this year, but a lot of shit happens. Trying to finish up a CD AND do a world tour isn't exactly the easiest thing to do.

Do you really think it is locked up in nevada and is beeing a secret just to anoy the fans? The facts is that there has been some problems with the record company and so on (like bbf said)
