  1. I haven't seen the finale yet, will probably do that tomorrow but my expectations are really low. Picard has turned out to be just another nu-trek show. However I just watched the pilot for strange new worlds....I loved it, could this finally be a return to classic trek? I feel like I actually know more about the crew in just one episode than in all of the seasons of the other new trek shows.

yeah, licking wounds and then attack again.

ruzzian state agency already released a statement that the aim is to genocide and erase the whole Ukraine. they will never stop unless militarily totally defeated.

no, you are wrong. this is not that those orcs are "left unchecked". this is a planned and state-endorsed policy of the invading horde.

I was painting a bigger picture here, it did not land I see. that's fine.

Putin did not rape girls and women in front of their mothers/children, did not kill blindfolded civilians, did not pull teeth from men and women, old and young...

Russians did, many of them... and they cannot hide behind Putin, goverment propaganda, brainwashing or smth similar...

Call me a cynical bastard and I honestly do not want for it to be this way but this is what we humans do if left unchecked. Being civil to one another is a luxury. When times are hard well that's a whole different story.

I agree with you, however I'll give you this. Ignorance is bliss and civilization is but a thin veneer.

Japan spotted 4 Russian war ships headed towards Europe. Here we go!

Guess China is helping Russia after all. Was there any doubt?

    Here we go again indeed!

    Quote

Someone in government said the US can't do a no fly zone because that would be a direct war with Russia. What a crock!

I have news for the US and Europe this is a war with Russia. they just won't admit it.

I saw a reporter in another country in Europe where the Ukraines are moving too. Some have decided to live there now and find jobs and put their kids in school. I have to admire them because they seem to just do what they have to to survive even with losing their homes and most things they had in Ukraine. I doubt I could do it without bitching every step of the way.

I think if it weren't for the Ukraines doing what they have to do no matter what the US or other countries do, they are still doing it themselves.

I'm sure President Z will do what he has to in saving his country. He knows it's up to him no matter what help he may be getting.

I just wish Biden would stand up to Putin and stop being afraid to make real moves to stop him once and for all.

If China gets involved what will the US and Europe do then?

Somehow each and every one of those sentences sounds like something written for Family guy right before the show jumps to a cut away .

Biden just had a speech about how the US is giving Ukraine the drones the President Z wants. He signed the bill. Whatever! I still don't think it's enough for Ukraine. and Putin has been declared a "war criminal". Exactly what will be done about this?

If this becomes WWIII, then maybe we might be able to stop Putin, but at the cost of so many more deaths. This whole thing is one big mess and it doesn't look like it will end with Ukraine.

Short of killing of Putin, I don't know how he will be stopped?

Just turn off your tv/internet/whatever for lets say fourteen days, think you'll find that your mental state will improve. I'm not hating on you just some friendly advice, your posts have a tendency to come across as someone stuck in a perpetual panic mode. :)

To win this war yes, Ukraine has no chance. Because I don't think Putin wants to occupy the entire country and deal with an insurgency, he wants what is being proposed right now, an independent Ukraine with official ceding of Crimea and the Eastern Republics.

You come across as a very black or white person. Nuances tend to get lost while debating someone with said mindset. so i'd rather refrain from engaging.

I agree if the Russians try and take the entire country there will be resistance for a long time. That's why I think their actual territorial ambitions are more limited in scope here than a Soviet/Stalin government would be.

weren't you the one that said resistance is futile.

I actually want this war to stop and I'm grown up enough to realize Putin isn't magically going to disappear. The Ukrainians will lose this war, and NATO and the US don't want to get into a shooting war with Russia (with China lurking on the sidelines). I'd rather have the Ukrainians lose now and negotiate some type of peace rather than get obliterated completely. You guys who want to give arms to Ukraine are just delaying the inevitable and giving Ukraine false hope (and there will be more dead Ukrainians in the process of that). That's my take.

That is fine and I respect your opinion. I just disagree with it that is all.

I will not pretend to know where this contested quote originated, I however deem it appropriate to post it in this thread.

Picard, Seven of Nine, Q, Guinan and the Borg Queen back.

Season 1 had a few issues, but it's still Star Trek.

Agreed season 1 was a mixed bag, just watched the first episode of season 2 and I enjoyed it. I'm feeling causally optimistic.

Yeah, and Putin is the one doing this. Spreading false news and on video too. This is a joke too!

It's just fucking up the Russian people who want to communicate with the world and see what's going on.

And as for the very rich in Russia. not sure if this is true but the world news said Putin has no connection to them and if the US and Europe take their wealth it won't effect Putin at all. Way to go.

Waiting for China to make a move on Taiwan and North Korea to make a move on South Korea. What will the rest of the world do if this happens? More talking. It's all bullshit and people are suffering and dying.

And here is the catch, if you don't talk people will end up suffering and dying. This is a universal principal of being a human. It's the human condition.

So Kherson has fallen, Mariupol is under siege, and strategic targets in Kharkov and Kiev are being hit. At some point Zelensky will have to admit he has a losing hand and negotiate.

BTW, what happened to that "Marshall Zhukov" poster? That poor guy has to be twisted in knots over all of this.

Ha this thought had entered my mind  as well earlier during the day, believe the poster's name was gregory zhukov. Haven't seen him around for a while.

That certainly was the Soviet tactic, but this doesn't appear to be human wave attacks.

When comparing the way the Russian army operates today to a modernday western army, the Russian army still very much operates this way.

  15. In each and every war that Russia has fought throughout the years it has always been the same. little to none tactical prowess just let the sheer numbers make up for it. Who cares if a 1000 young men die or 10.000. As long as goal is achieved all is well.

I'm not so convinced the Ukraine is going to fight to the death like Poland in 41 vs Germany and the USSR. There's so much fog of war right now where the western press is saying the invasion is going terribly for Russia but Russia does seem to be at the gates of the largest cities and is taking impressive amounts of territory without large scale bombing. Eventually the rubber will hit the road and we'll see what the real truth is/was.

Don't know where you are getting that info from, general consensus from the start has been that while Ukraine may resist the outcome will sadly be as expected.

While it is honourable, that doesn't mean it's not useless. They're just delaying the inevitable. I for one don't believe Putin would want to install a puppet government, he's way too smart for that, that would never fucking work and he knows it, so if the Ukrainien military did a coup the whole thing really would be over sooner, because the leadership of Ukraine is what Putins main motivator is.

The chances of the Ukrainian army doing a coup are looking like slim to none at the moment, don't think Putin would launch an invasion on the basis of a sovereign nations army doing a coup for him to ultimately get what he wants. That would be extremely foolish in my opinion.

The thing with this whole conflict is I just don't see Putin's endgame. I mean a puppet regime is obviously not going to work because the Ukrainians want none of that so the other option for russia is to occupy the Ukrain however Russia doesnt have the manpower nor the economy to sustain an occupation of a country the size of Ukrain. So what options are left on the table? This could quickly turn into an Afganhistan/Vietnam type situation and we all know how that usually ends.

Well, now would be a pretty interesting time for Sweden and Finland to join nato, pretty sure you'd see Putin threatening with nukes if that were to happen. Seeing as a good chunk of russia's army is busy somewhere else.

I'd really like some feedback on this one, just out of sheer curiousity :)

    correct.

meanwhile the invader horde is already threatening Finland and Sweden with military action.
