  1. Zeppelin didn't have any albums full of Stairway to Heavens....You had 4 Sticks, Black Dog, Levee etc...

Or Immigrant song, Livin Lovin Maid..Friends BYA-Stomp...just brilliant music..

The Beatles were just a Backstreet Boys of the 60s..I don't see why everyone likes them so much..they all were better when they went solo...esp. Lennon and Harrison.

The other half of the album contains The Blues, Madagascar and This I love...which are balladic or pop

Not that this is the place for this discussion, but that's the most ludicrous statement I've ever heard. So I guess by your logic the Backstreet Boys are the Beatles of the 90s...

Anyway, GNR has always had a pop element to its music. To me, pop music is melody driven which has always been GNR's strong suit in hard rock. Even in GNR's harder songs there's a strong pop element; which I always attributed to Axl. So if Axl is driving the creative reigns on this sucker, get ready for some poppy songs (as evident by The Blues, Madagasacar, TWAT, IRS).

  2. MVPs of the week

Guns N' Roses, who had three new songs "leak" onto the internet this past week. As Axl Rose suspiciously

surfaced back into the public eye, tracks that were reportedly from the band's long delayed album, Chinese

Democracy, hit the Net, and were met with solid reviews. The band's last official album was 1993's Spaghetti

Incident, which -- much like my middle school days of that year -- was disappointing, awkward, painful to

deal with, and at times, hairy.

Apparently word is seriously getting around. Moreover, the word seems to be all good. I'm curious as to whether Axl and co. will be more fixated on the vast majority of positive reviews over the new songs or hark upon the ill sentiments expressed in the Boston Herald?

Personally, one would think that such glowing reviews would entice the band to get this mother done, but who knows, perhaps one bad apple can ruin the whole damn bunch.

  3. It's alot different to how i thought it would sound after the original!!!

Yes, the full version does exist, I've listened to it four times (though I kind of wish I hadn't, the first two minutes is the best part anyway).

It kind of loses its flow after the chorus. But remember that this is still a demo, I imagine that the finish product will be much sharper and straightforward.

    Cheers,

  4. Honestly, I'm very surprised with everyone's reaction to The Blues. I think it's an alright song, but it's not something I would consider amazing. Axl mentioned that he's held back the big guns, meaning whatever was played in 2002 was not an "it" song. Moreover, having played a lot of new songs to my friends who are NOT GnR fans, the three songs that seem receive the most attention are Madagascar, Better and There Was a Time. If I had to put money on it, I think that IRS and There Was a Time could both be consider "big guns." Neither were played in 2002, IRS has single written all over it, and There Was a Time harks back to the epic sound that was so prevelant in the Use Your Illusion albums. Almost everyong I know who isn't in to GNR didn't think much of the Blues. Not to say that this isn't a great song, but I would put it behind Madagascar, Better, IRS, and TWAT as they are far and away better songs. To me, the Blues falls off the rails after the second verse. But hey, that's just me.

In the end, it's all speculation until we hear the damn thing.
