  1. Is his vocals better than 2002, definitely... But as good as they were in the late 80s/early 90s... I don't know about that... I suppose it's all a matter of taste, but listen to November Rain. He vocals are fare much softer than how he use to sing it (listen to the Tokyo DVDs from Illusion era).

That all said, he sounds awesome and am just glad to see and hear the guy on stage doing what he does best. I wish GNR all the best throughout the tour, and can't wait to see them in Paris.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  2. No but Mezz is better than the floor. The floor sucks, trust me, you would have a better time in the mezz.

I've got a quesiton about Mezz (particularly, Mezz 2)...

I've got Mezz 2 tickets for the 17th. I'm curious as to whether you need to be in the first two rows to see anything. I'm driving in from Toronto with someone who's never been to New York, and we were hoping to look around the city and have a nice dinner before going to the show. If we get there by 10:00 or so, do you think we'll still be able to see the stage from Mezz 2?

Anyone with Mezz 2 tickets, please let me know.

    Much appreciated...

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  3. BFMV is MUCH better than cky and/or mixmaster mike! i still think they should have gotten either Buckcherry, Silvertide, or Wolfmother to open. Trashlight Vision would be cool too.

    Dude,

Wolfmother would have been awesome as an openner... While obviously they're a complete rip from Black Sabbath and Zeppeline, they still rock really hard. I really wanted to go to their show in Toronto on the 16th, but I'll be busy driving from Toronto to New York for GNR on the 17th. Guess you can't make them all.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  4. i can't believe how egoistical americans are. "all 4 shows", that's all i hear. what about the thousands and thousands of us who paid to see them here in europe? fuck you. :fuckyou:

You don't have many friends, do you...

Anyway, this thread is dumb. First, why do you need to know this? Is this really important information? Are you trying to win some stupid bet? Second, as GNR fans, we should be focusing on positive matters (or at the very least, positive speculation). Third, it isn't 'egotistical' for us North American fans to focus on New York considering that's where all of the speculation will go down. If GNR doesn't show for New York, I wouldn't hold onto your European tickets (and on a side note, I'm seeing GNR in Paris, so I too have an interest in the Europe arena, don't assume).

Finally, how the hell do you expect any of us to know this. Something tells me not too many of us are financial analysts who drop in from time to time on mygnrforum.com to answer such questions. If you're looking for a serious response, ask a serious question.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

    go drown yourself.

    Nice come back...

And I notice you've asked this very same question at htgth... I hope your essay is coming along nicely.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  6. The short answer: whatever day I can get tickets.

The long answer: I think it's going to be easier to get tickets for the 17th, hence that's the date I'll try. In the even that I get tickets for the 17th, I'll go back and try for the 15th, then decide what show I want to see. The remaining two tickets will be sold at face value to fellow GNR fans.

The pros of seeing the 15th is that you get to see the band first and from that, you'll know who's in the band, what songs they're going to play, and even listen to some new stuff. Also, a big plus for me is that seeing the show on the Monday allows me more time to get down to New York from Toronto. I love going to New York, so heading down on Friday night or Saturday gives me a few more days to enjoy the city.

The pros of seeing the 17th show is that there's a better chance you'll get tickets 'cause everyone wants to see them first. Also, I personally think that the show itself will be better on the 17th, as the band will get the kinks worked out in the first.

In the end, I could care less about seeing GNR first. What's important to me is the opportunity to see the band in a small setting, something we'll likely never see again (then again, who knows). With this is mind, I don't mind having some surprises ruined if it means I have a better chance at seeing my favourite band in a club setting.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  7. So, i take it that they are letting 16-year-old Canadians in, right

    :P

Probably not, but this 26 year old Canadian will be there. Wonder if they'll have any Canadian beer?

Anyway, probably not a suitable place for people under 21. Has it been determined that the NYC shows are all ages?

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  8. Hey All,

Mr. Intensity over at the HTGTH board has arranged for a pre-NYC party on May 15 for Mustang Harry's. Here's the info as I've posted it from HTGTH:

    Cheers,

    Andrew

GOOD NEWS INVOLVING THE PRE PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke with the owner of Mustang Harry's this morning which is a 5-7 minute walk away from Hammerstein Ballroom. I told him he could expect 50-200 Guns n Roses fans on May 15th if he could meet our accomidation requests and one of his bartenders (which sounded like a hot young lady i might add) went crazy when she heard a Guns N Roses pre-party was being considered at the bar. The owner Nile said he would meet our request and allow us to play Guns N Roses music on the bar stereo and he could accomodate up to 400 people. Then the bartender asked to talk to me and took my number in case she couldn't score tickets when they go on sale this Friday..... she then went on to talk about Axl for like 10 minutes.

Details are still being worked out.... it sounds as if he only wants a $2,000 bar tab guaranteed which won't be hard if we get 100 people to show up there. I've already recieved about 50 pm's and word of mouth should get another 50 people to come alone.

Also, to the people who requested a handicap accessible place, I believe this shall be as it is a big establishment that is open 11am to 4pm!!

  9. Hey all,

Aussi_Axl, you do what you have to do... When GNR toured NA in 2002, I went to six shows (Detroit, Toronto, London, Boston, New York, Phildelphia) and everyone thought I was crazy, but it was one of the best trips I've been on. This time around, I'm planning on going to New York (if I get a ticket) and I've already got my tickets to Paris June 20th. I'm not that big into concerts, but I'll be damned if I get to pass up any feasible opportunity to sing along with Axl in a live setting to Nighttrain or rocking out to Paradise City. Anyone who criticizes just doesn't get it, now do they ;)

Anyway, as I mentioned, I'm planning on going to the Monday show. I live in Toronto, so I plan on driving down Monday morning, see the show, stay the night in some crappy hotel afterwards, and driving back Tuesday. I've got room for one (drive a two seater car), so anyone else from Toronto looking for a cheap way down let me know. Again, this is all predicated on getting a seat and my friend doesn't come.

This is pretty sweet. I'm just hoping that there's a little bit of a warning as to when the pre-sale for insiders is actually going down. I'm on the road from 8-5, hence my internet access is limited.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

nice post, did you have any mates go with you?.

Detroit, Toronto and London I had some friends join me. London was a little crazy, had first row, centre stage tickets and I brought a female friend. When WTTJ came on, it was a little nuts making sure she was alright. Thankfully security came in and sent everyone back to their seats.

Boston, New York and Philadelphia I was on my own. This time around, I'm hoping to go with a buddy to New York, but he's a bit of a flake sometimes, so if I get tickets I might have one to sell (at face value of course). For Paris, I'm meeting a buddy who's already traveling through Europe and we'll be going so loaded and high it's going to be a miracle if we can remember the show an hour after Axl walks off the stage.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  11. Extremely unlikely...

99% of bands who perform on SNL do so to promote their new albums. Since GNR will have nothing to promote at this time (other than a quasi-European tour; which isn't SNL's targetted market), don't expect to see GNR on SNL anytime soon. Much more likely to see Axl as a cameo on some skit, but a full band performance is unlikely this year. Also consider that these shows are warm-up shows, partly done to work out kinks in their performances. Not too sure if the band wants to go perform on national television even before such shows. If CD is to be released in the fall or winter, I'd be more expecting Axl and co. to show up on SNL then, but certainly not now.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  12. Hey,

Looks like GN'R will be back in business with Clear Channel, which is amazing considering the catastrophe that was the 2002 tour. One also has to wonder if these two shows are somewhat of a test for Axl and the band. If they act, behave and most importantly, show-up, perhaps GNR will once again be working with clear channel for a North American tour later this year.

It's curious to wonder if the three and half year period of silence concerning all things GNR has something to do with GNR's legal relationship with Clear Channel. With CC holding an almost monopoly on promoting large-scale tours, perhaps Axl and co. weren't in a rush to finish an album that could not be supported with a proper tour. Now that it seems GNR and Clear Channel are at least willing to work with each other, this probalby bodes well for the eventual release of Chinese Democracy later this year.

    Here's hoping anyway...

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  13. You've got to figure that one of the stipulations of Tommy appearing on the show tonight was that the interviewer would refrain from any GNR comments/questions. Tommy seemed set on discussing anything but his involvment with GNR. Also, it seems more than likely that Tommy's sole purpose on being on the show was discuss his participation in Soul Asylum, and little else. If GNR was a topic allowed in the conversation, do you think much if any time would be given to Soul Asylum? I doubt it.

All the same, it's disappointing that nothing was said. At least he's still in the band. THen again, perhaps may be that's a point of contention. Perhaps his involvement with GNR is questionable at this point. Who knows (and thanks to tonight, we know very little more).

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  14. yay, somebody just won a "Fun With Dick and Jane" dvd.....

    random person:1

    GNR Fans: 0

That is probably the first time I've physically laughed out loud while reading anything from this forum. Although, it's arguable as to whether you're being generous in giving GNR Fans a Zero instead of a negative number.

Nice job my friend. I'd bet even Axl would laugh over your funny shenanigans,

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  15. Hey all,

Just FYI, I received my tickets today, and I live in Toronto Canada. Very impressed with the expediency of ticket process and delivery.

Guess this is getting more and more real.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  16. Hey all,

Just thinking of what cool signs one could make for European dates. So far I've thought of two:

    GNR 2.0 = "Better"

And because I'm flying from Toronto to Paris, I though it would be funny to have a sign that read:

    Toronto -> Paris

    For Some TWAT

Anyway, just curious as to whether anyone else was going to make a sign. I doubt I will, but some signs are pretty funny,

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  17. I'm curious if anyone from North America (or anywhere other than Europe for that matter) is heading to Europe this summer to catch one of the shows?

I've got my tickets to Paris, but unfortunately I'll be heading south soon afterwards while GNR heads north. Just wanted to know if any Canadians plan on attending a Europe concert?

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  18. Well, I've always wanted a gnr cap and I wonder if they will sell these things or something on the concerts? I mean, like if they sell CD (if it has been released then) together with some other merchandise?

GnR cap like this one or the one which could be bought on merch.com a while a go (with new red star GnR logo).

    ?

    :)

I sometimes think that some bands tour soley for hawking their wears... As Krusty the Clown proclaims, "It's the sweetest plum." So yes, to answer your question, expect plenty of GNR merchandise to throw your money at. Also bring tons of cash, as merchandise at concerts can cost more than the tickets themselves. I remember $75-$90 range for long-sleeved shirts. What were the jerseys going for? I think it was $120 - $150 in some cases. (I do remember paying $30 for a GNR hoodie in Philadelphia). If you see something you like, but don't want to pay concert prices, wait until the tour is over and find it for much cheaper on merch.com

When GNR toured North America, I went to six shows, and bought something at each show as a memento from the show. Expensive, but worth it.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  19. Guys, don't expect to hear Coma or Estranged; it ain't going to happen...

I think of all the new songs, TWAT will be the best live. The jam session and screeching guitars sets up really well for a live performance. It's like a big wall of sound. With Axl's vocals crying out, "I would do anything for you!!!" I think it's going to be awesome.

Since I went to six concerts in 2002 (5 of which the band showed up), I would like to hear the band open with something other than Welcome to the Jungle. Granted, I don't expect it to happen since Europe never got their full fledged tour last time out, but something else to open things up would be great; maybe Night Train or It's So Easy. Furthermore, since I'm going to the Paris show, I'd really like to hear Axl say in to the mic at some point, "Paris France... Do you know where the fuck you are!!!?" The thing about the Illusion tours was that you never new when they were going to break out WTTJ. It was always cool when Axl would say that in the middle of a set and you then knew what was coming. Putting the song at the beginning of every performance kind of ruins the surprise.

Very surprised if they play Don't Cry; won't be expecting that. If anything, I think you'll hear the standards:

    WTTJ

    SCOM

    Pardise City

    November Rain

    Patience

    YCBM

Either Live and Let Die or Knockin' On Heaven's Door (maybe both)

    It's So Easy

    Mr. Brownstone

    That's nine right there.

    Most likely hear these songs:

    Chinese Democracy

    Madagascar

    The Blues

Plus some new songs as well, but I'm guessing it's going to be some of the songs already leaked. If the album isn't out by the tour, I doubt Axl and co. wants to release any more new material than other what's heard. So I'm expecting two of these three:

    Better

    IRS

    There Was a Time

My money is on Better and IRS.

Finally, it's never a bad decision to have Paradise City close your show (with confetti and fireworks). Yet this wasn't always done. They use to close with Knockin' on Heaven's Door from time to time. Maybe TWAT would work because it's such a monstrous song, but only once the album has been released. Can't finish a concert with a song that with the exception of a few die-hards, no one has heard before.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  20. I think the only words Merk knows are, "interesting", and "bogus". It's getting old fast.

    don't forget soon!

If I were Merck I wouldn't say much either. He reps a very private individual/band, hence his actions and words have to respect such behaviour. Everyone has to stop taking things so personally; relax; breath. It's just an album, it's not your life. While I've been waiting just as long as everyone else, and my anticipation for new material is beyond description, I'm not scheduling my life around the release of a Guns N' Roses album. If the album arrives on store shelves, great - I'm pushing my way through the line to be the first to buy it. If it's not there tomorrow, next week, or in the next six months (or what has now been 13 years - ever think that Axl's waiting until 2007 so Izzy's words of "14 years of silence, it's been 14 years of pain" come true?), oh well, I've got shit to do.

In the words of Axl himself, "go live your life."

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  21. 12 hours after they went on sale, the 3 ticket categories are still available (carré or, cat. 1, cat 2).

Just checked, now only General Admission tickets available, but there's more of them (2200 or so - earlier there were only 2000).

Regardless, I've got my tickets, and as long as the band shows up, I'm happy.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Now, anyone know how far Bercy arena is from my hotel (near Notre Dam)?

Not too far. You just have to cross the Seine ( Notre Dame is on "ile (island) de la cité" that is by the way a really pretty place to stay) then take the tube (line 14) at "chatelet" station and stop at Bercy station (there's only 2 stations between the two).

Thanks for the help... So long as there's an actual subway station that says "Bercy" I should be fine. Yeah, the hotel I'm staying at is supposedly a five minute walk south east of Notre Dame. It's suppose to be nice (doing three weeks in Europe - one in France and two in Spain). Starting the trip off in Paris (with the GNR concert my second night) so I thought I'd stay in a nice hotel and then travel on a smaller budget afterwards..

Hey, anyone who's going to the Paris show who wants to meet up for a drink before the show, let's try to organize something.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  22. BTW, I'm glad I stuck to my suspicion that the english speaking people would get the shaft and navigated through the French portal of the website. After buying my tickets, I went to the English version and noticed the site wouldn't let the user buy tickets yet.

  23. HURRY UP GUYS !!! rock4

Got my ass out of bed just in time to buy two assigned seats (Carre OR)...

Looks like everything's gone with exception to 2000 general tickets. Figured this would sell out quickly...

Anyway, looking forward to the show. I hope Axl repeats what he said for the PPV special back in 1992: "Paris France, and the rest of the world, DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE FUCK YOU ARE..."

Anyway, hope everyone who wanted seats got them.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

P.S. Thanks for everyone's help. Now, anyone know how far Bercy arena is from my hotel (near Notre Dam)?

  24. I assume that once tickets are available for purchase, you then put your credit card information in? In North America, with ticketmaster, you can presave your creditcard information with your account so you don't have to bother when you're buying tickets. Does such a feature exist on ticknet.fr or as I mentioned, do I just have it ready for when I buy tickets.

I don't think the feature that you've mentioned exists on ticket.fr

So you will have to wake up quite early to put your credit card information in ! :P

There is one thing that you can already do : to create your account (give a valid e-mail address, your real name and address so they can send you the tickets).

Try to order a ticket for the Korn concert for example in order to familiarize with the site. The first step is to chose what kind of tickets do you want (cat. 1 or cat. 2) and how many.

(I don't think it will sell out as fast as in Finland... but you can never know. Bercy has a 17,000 capacity)

Thanks for your help there Niveen...

I'm just a little anxious to get tickets and I don't want something dumb (ie, communication, lack of understanding on my part) to get in the way of me seeing GNR in Paris.

As for Bercy selling out quickly, I wouldn't be surprised. MSG in New York (which is roughly the same size) sold out in 15 - 20 minutes in 2002. With word spreading of GNR's trip to Europe this summer, I think it will be one of the hotest tickets in town, especially a city as big as Paris. Just don't want to risk it.

New question, what's most people planning buying? The general admission tickets or assigned seating? I'm probably going to go with assigned seating as I'll probably be pretty tired from the flight the day before and don't want to have to stand around for 4-5 hours in order to get a close view of the stage. I've done both, and both have their benefits. Anyway, curious as to what everyone else is planning on buying.

    Cheers,

    Andrew
