It was great. I remember most people being shocked that Shackler's was one of the best live songs and Prostitute was one of the worst. Unpredictable sets, Axl in 1991 chainsaw rasp mode, and it even seemed like there was a chance of a re-release with bonus tracks, remixes and better artwork within the next year... oh well.

yeah, he had lot of gas in the tank!

I also noticed when they played Perhaps that Axl only sang the "all alone" lines in the chorus and let Duff sing the alternating lines. I think that's an improvement because Axl seems to struggle and get out of breath trying to sing all the lines himself.

This! when I first heard the single tought that they were going to play it this way, but instead was full Axl. Now it makes more sense for Duff doing the backing vocals, otherwise uncle Ax goes out of steam

Axl wasn't hounded for years by Izzy and Steven questions and chants like he was with Slash. I do think its a shame that they likely will never play live again but its remarkable that all 5 members of the classic lineup are still alive.

at this point a full reunion makes no sense. The only thing that will not happen but can be valid is bringing Izzy back for a new album. But, if they are still releasing old ass material from 1999, I see almost impossible that new songs can be written.

To the meme "all I can offer is another year of touring" I would add "all I can offer is another SCOM with Carrie" or "all I can offer is another CD B-side"

Personally, never got that great a vibe about things 2002-2008. The initial revamped line-up (i.e. 97-01) had a lot of studio/rehearsal time, and things like RIR 3 to bind them- and I always had the sense the 2009-2014 line-up was more of a traveling frat party just playing the string out with much of the pressure off them.

I agree, after CD release GNR was Axl+"Friends" on summer camp playing

I'm sure it is frustrating to a degree. But they were paid salaries while in the band and they received writing credits where due. Tommy, Robin, Josh and Paul all get a piece of royalties from Hard Skool. That seems preferable to it collecting dust in the vault

in your mind maybe it is this way, but in their mind they were ripped off, because the song were written by some/all of former members and (for sure) because of a contract they gave up their credits. Anyways, we are not talking about Hotel California or Stairway to Heaven, it is Perhaps...

Of course! They would've easily had six figure salaries and earnt per year/tour/session.

They wouldn't make as much as Axl, but they'd earn a lot more than if they worked in an office instead.

Here's a thread from 2008 discussing what The Rolling Stones' touring musicians make. Of course, the Stones are a bigger touring entity than Guns, but it gives a reasonable insight. If an anonymous (yet talented) player like Darryl Jones was making a million for touring back then, then I'd say it was a safe bet tthatthe likes of Robin, Tommy, and Chris etc. (who were all considered 'members') could've got at least $100k a year for touring and recording. Chris even sued for over $100k in missing earnings when he left the band.

100k is a lot for me, but don't know if it is a lot considering the numbers of a tour. Now, of course, the real question is what they do instead to make more money. For instance, Tommy with the cowboys & crap I think is making only for weed and hotels

  7. These guys (mainly Tommy and Robin) put a lot of effort to write music for GNR, so it must be frustrating seeing how now out of the blue the same song comes out with Slash and Duff pressed as "creators". The underlying message of all these late releases is that Axl is the one who decides what is recorded/released, etc. Slash and Duff couldn't make him write a new song or introduce to him something worth to be released (in Axl's vision). So, regarding power management, Axl is in control and the one who has the keys of he money making machine.

I have to say…my favorite thing about the video is how it presents GNR as a BAND.

They could have just focused on Axl, Slash, and Duff, but I really do love how everyone gets equal screen time and there’s enough close ups of everyone to show them off to casual fans.

It really does feel like this is the beginning of something big.

I agree, also introducing Fernando as a formal member makes justice for the poor guy

  9. Just watched the video on YT. The video is ok, but it sucks that they made this copy/paste of random scenes. Looks more like a familiar tape than a music video...

The song is OK for me, piano fits perfect, guitars, vocals, etc. Don't like the backing vocals on the chorus (kind of the ones on The Garden from UYI, like a roar).

Hope this is the kickstart from a new album

Edit: WTF are Beta and Fernando doing there????
