  1. my sort of "obsession" is more because of the enigma during his reclusive years. Also how he changed the looks, voice, etc. In 2002 the band was pretty much dead and then being after that 3 years with no news, i thought GNR was done. But he managed to come back, best Axl in years!!

But also the interesting thing to me is that somehow he fucks up in the moments that could have been a turnaround for the band. What I mean is, for instance, in 2006 CD should have been put out and tour the shit out of it. Instead, the release the album in 08, after 1 year without touring and then star over again one year after. Eitherway, he comes back in 09 on fire, best of all Axl's versions. Then he starts to decline again, the tour is worn and bum: the reunion + Axl/DC.

Then again, in 2019/2020 he seemed to be hanging from the cliff and makes another (not so spectacular) but a decent come back in 2022 with carrie underwood. Call me a sucker, but I felt very happy when I saw him again this year, the guy's got something

He did look like something was off back then, maybe an illness or some type of cosmetic surgery, who knows really

    This!

The lack of eyebrows and the chicks look weird, but he looks great man, thinner thank RIR III and also in a very good mood there. By this time he also made a radio interview with argentinean guy named Juan Di Natale. I heard he had some sort of a girfriend here.

  3. I have watched the first concerts of this tour and Axl sound pretty well. Not at 2010 or 2016 level, but decent. He also seems to be in better shape. Some of you guys pointed that they should play songs in lower key like Down on The Farm, The Garden, Pretty Tied Up, etc, and I totally agree!! They should drop Coma (i.e.) or other songs that are a bear to uncle Axl.

Setlist debates are a difficult one as you have a band with very little material really, who like to play for a long time, and don't especially like change. Changing the order up would be fun though, I'd agree.

The other dimension of course is the chronic lack of forward motion in terms of new material. That makes the setlist seem more dull than it would otherwise I think. If the setlist was absolutely identical for every leg of the tour for years, but there was a variety of new material inserted into it, say three or four songs each night, I don't think many would complain. It would seem far more dynamic.

I complained about setlists maby times, but you have to consider (despite of our opinion) that business play a role here too: people who pay a ticket want to listen WTTJ, SCOM, NR and PC at least. Add a couple "take a break songs" like ISE or Brownstone and so the setlist is built up. Also GNR after the 90's didn't do acoustics or any other variant of the songs just for change, so it is what it is.

I don't think there is any reason to expect anyone from AC/DC just because they played Back in Black during soundcheck.

Angus young doesn't live in the US and expecting him to fly all the way here to play one song on state at a random music festival with GnR is a pretty big stretch.  I mean if I'm wrong I am but I wouldn't count on this happening

    yes, your point is valid

The more music Slash puts out, the more I think GNR fans collectively backed the wrong horse in obsessing over Axl from the late 90s to present day. It is beyond obvious to me in 2021 that Axl was luckier to have Slash than the other way round.

You may not love everything Slash puts out, but his body of work combining the Snakepit albums, VR albums, SMKC and his 2010 offering really puts Axl to shame.

In the six years since the reunion Axl has released just two songs, both more than 20 years old - one of which we've known for two decades, meanwhile Slash is on his second album with his real band.

Axl really hasn't earnt his stripes to be taken seriously as an artist in his own right, unlike Slash.

Axl Rose appears not to have a creative bone in his body and is coasting on a legacy which he was given way too much credit for over the years. His lack of productivity speaks volumes about who the true driving force was in original Guns, and I really believe that Axl was incredibly fortunate to have been in a band with Slash and Izzy.

It really is time for the fanbase to stop looking at Axl through rose-tinted glasses. A great singer/frontman in his prime? Absolutely. But a serious artist/songwriter/musician he is not.

The real truth is that only a hundred people on this forum want new music, 99% want classics. Take a look to other bands, even if they put out new music people only want old classics. Sad but true.
