  1. I think the new band members would be frustrated if they weren't given a chance to contribute. If they are allowed to contribute there will be a long time before the album is out with all the tinkering etc. Axl has never worked quickly and doesn't just let others do a job, he likes to oversee it completely. And if the new guys don't contribute but are just playing on old robin and buckethead era stuff I could see a couple of them getting frustrated and leaving, which is going to delay things further again.

Honestly, what do you see as the absolute minimum time it could take for Axl to get the next album out?

dj and bumble are probably frustrated. but tommy, richard, dizzy, and chris already recorded their parts on the songs we've yet to hear with robin and bucket. i understand dj's and bumble's frustrations. many fans want to hear what robin and bucket have left in the bucket lol an album ready to go. ready for release. the next record isn't out cause of the current tour happening. but it still could come out in 2012. as for dj and bumble, a new record with them will be a big delay. i don't know how much power the label has. but i'd assume the label would want the album already recorded out rather than waiting on a totally new one to be recorded

I don't think the band touring would delay an album, if there is already one ready to go. Plenty of bands, including GnR in the past, have started tours while albums get mixed etc, with updates getting sent to them on the road. There's clearly more work to be done before Axl is happy with it, and we know things don't move quickly when that is the case. We would have heard something if things were further along towards an album release but there's no hints at all, beyond DJ talking about writing his own stuff that he presented to Axl, and other members saying they want to release an album. Without the big guy in the right headspace nothing is going to happen...

I really don't think there's going to be another album of original music by Guns N' Roses.

I don't think so either. Do they owe the label anything? I wonder if the label could release something either live or leftovers of something to get what they're owed?

  4. As with nearly everything "Guns N' Roses"- the truth probably falls somewhere in between. In my view the last 15 years cannot be rated as a complete failure as by today's standards the band still sells respectable amounts of albums and concert tickets (especially abroad). Additionally, Axl hasn't done anything so bad as to really tarnish the name and slow down Greatest Hits sales (and much of the rest of the back catalog for that matter ).

That said- the last 15 years have hardly been the glorious and massive success many had predicted either. Personally, I think Axl's been behind the 8-ball and playing catch-up ever since failing to deliver the Finck/Huge/Stinson/Freese version of CD back in '99. It may be strange now given the current industry-wide obsession with "nostalgia"- but in '99 the fact that Axl had successfully recruited the NIN lead guitarist (Finck), a punk rock icon bassist (Stinson) and the drummer from Devo (Freese) was not necessarily viewed as a "bad" thing. There was an evolve or die mindset and it seemed to me a lot of folks were legitimately interested to hear what Axl could come up with with his revamped line-up. The subsequent line-up changes and interminable delays that followed were a near fatal blow IMHO...

The lineup with Buckethead was pretty damn good to be honest... but it now seems like everything is just getting more and more diluted and the joke is starting to wear thin... the fans are getting tired.... the current band members even appear to be getting tired or have just accepted defeat and take the pay cheque

  5. Based on the time Chinese Democracy took, there's gonna be no next album. If Axl got stuck into it now it'd come out when he's about 60...

let's hope the next chinese record doesn't drop when axl hits 60

It does seem a shame but what is the reality of the situation??? What is the absolute minimum it could take an album to come, taking into account Axl's tinkering etc. 5 years away minimum???

  6. I always liked the Guns with any kind of roses design too. I think they should go back to those too.

I think something that incorporates guns, roses and skulls is doable. Now I'm visualizing a skull with a magnum lodged in it's mouth and rose petals for the blood-spatter...

    Love this shirt

Now that is a cool looking t shirt

  7. Now that the playing field is even, there are no more secrets, the collective fan consciousness has a certain awareness, and so now.. I tell you:

Nu Guns' 2nd album will sell more than Libertad. There is no debate. It is indisputable. A foregone conclusion.

This is quite definitely an accomplishment on several levels, so perhaps it's time to give credit where credit is due.

    Carry on.

Libertad actually exists. Nu Guns' second album does not... can't sell what doesn't exist

  8. Axl should have let GNR die when Slash left. All he has done is ruin the legacy and turn the band into a giant joke. literally everyone I talk to about GNR has a negative opinion and thinks Axl is a silly ass. I think he would have a TON more support from the public if he just called it "Axl Rose..."

...that, and releasing new music. seriously, this band is a silly fucking travelling jukebox. i think it's time to settle down into Las Vegas and just play the show nightly there. Axl already has Elvis' figure, may as well have the silly Vegas act too.

seems to me that most of the current GNR members think the band is a joke, too.

    Sad but true.

    Agreed

  9. There was a time when Guns N' Roses was such a huge band that the world outside of these forums paid attention to what they released and performed in concert. Beyond these forums nobody cares too much anymore

I guess I should just be thankful you didn't project yet another one of your closeted homosexual insults at me.

Maybe you should try reading the opening post instead of just auto-babble-trolling. Regardless of Guns n Roses' status today versus 20 years ago, there are still lots of fans and gamblers who would be more than happy to wager on the things I mentioned in the opening post (and lots of other related GnR things too). I suppose it was too much to expect people to think beyond the literal "vegas" interpretation and contemplate gambling venues like... the internet for example.

Ok fair enough if you want to blow all of your pocket money on betting if Axl will play a new song this tour, I'm sure you will find somewhere online to place your bet. Don't you have to be older than 18 to place a bet though?...

  10. Marc Canter should have become the band's manager. He seems to be smart and well-balanced, has a genuine love for the band and I think he could have been a good, bullshit-free bridge between Axl and Slash
