There are musicians, then there are musicians that you attribute to certain bands.
Richie Sambora would in no way guitar for Guns N' Roses or be accepted in that role, in the same way that, for instance, Bruce Dickinson would be vocals for Bon Jovi.
These artists would set up new bands if they left, as Richie Sambora and Bruce Dickinson have done historically.

We've all heard the spiel about "managers trying to force GN'R to reform" over promoting the new band, particularly during the 2002-2010 era. I'd never really thought about why, but this article makes a good fist of explaining it:
http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/features/storms-last-stand/
Specifically, this bit:
There was a power shift from record companies to promoters and agents. In 2002 David Bowie announced that he was to perform his classic album Low in its entirety at London’s Royal Festival Hall. (“Hang on,” double-checked a cynical audience: “You’re definitely not going to play any of your new album? Really? And none of that Tin Machine guff? Ok then, I’m in!”) Acts with a similar pedigree who previously had thought that they had to release a new album in order to tour, embraced a new nothing-but-the-hits/your-favourite-album-in-full touring model. Promoters, fed-up of losing small fortunes on hot, hyped young acts with no audience, smelled money. The new law: any band that can reform, will. The decline of record labels happened during the making of Chinese Democracy.
An interesting account of the making of the album could be written, reflecting the decline, and their changing attitudes towards bands.

Rear View Mirror probably.

Hi Russ
I read Evo a little and liked it. The forum was alt, but a lot more grown up that other places.
I see it is down now. I hope your Chinese Whispers thing has not disappeared. Although not an official document, it is a record of what the fans saw, read and believed over many years, and as such, should be kept on the internet for reference
Good luck with you new position here

Mick Wall is famous off the back of an Axl rant. He is really no different to anyone here

It must be gut wrenching for Guns having their material stolen and leaked like this. All the years spend writing and recording.
-
Do you think CD II is taking so long to be released because Axl feels like he still needs to live up to the GNR name?
Let's see if you can figure out why this is a silly post.
In your opinion, Randy, why would Guns choose to tour on the back of Chinese for a long time rather than release a sequel to the album

He has his own section here, you dafty

Once a forum becomes about it's users rather than the topic it was created for, then if will always become difficult.
You have people who cupcake GN'R here, then the anti cupcakes who cupcake the cupcakes.
And then you have the people who blame the mods because of the cupcakes and the anti cupcakes.
Subsy is paying hundreds of pounds a month for a Guns forum, and you guys are just turning this into a circus, and pushing the casual fans away

I was front row and center last night, it was incredible as always! This was my third show this year! The security were complete assholes, nearly ruined our night, but it came back in our favor! Long story, but Beta totally stuck her neck out for us when my husband got kicked at during last song before encore because he would not let security confiscate the sign I made. It said Giving Thanks To GNR for 25 years. Bumblefoot yelled at security for us and brought the sign on stage for everyone to see! At the end of the show we met with Beta and she argued with head of security to let my husband back in the venue and she was giving us all access with her and that we were her guests. She did this out of the kindness of her heart. It was truly incredible! We were able to go to the after party with members of the band. Fernando was there and was hysterical to talk to, really funny and apologized up and down for what happened, which was no fault of theirs. The venue insisted over and over it was the bands request for all signs to be confiscated and removed. Beta and Fernando And Bumble adamantly deny this and say they encourage signs as long as they are not lie Where's Slash or Fuck Off Axl. Beta actually got in a verbal match with head of security over this. Bumble said many times, like who is in charge here, it seems backwards that we can't say yes, we want and allow the signs. Okay enough of that. The actual show though was incredible! Axl seemed to having a blast the whole time, lots of smiling and joking around. He sounded great, lots of energy! It was a special treat to see izzy and Axl perform together and to see how happy him Being there on stage made Axl! Dead flowers was a highlight for sure as well as 14 years!!!!

A great longer post.
Email juliec@hrhvegas.com to complain about the security

Management seem fine
The endless new threads are a nuisance tho

dont put videos of 93,becuase i remember how bad Axl sound nowadays.Fuck! where do you see mickey mouse in that videos
We learn from what people post, what TV channels they watch.
To compare person A, to person B, you need to have lived a little. Comparing anyone to Mickey Mouse is just infantile

I can do an Axl impersonation but there's no point in making that your singing voice, because it's not your voice.
Where is a example of your Axl voice?
It is always interesting to hear

"Awesome to see GN'R do this show. Great cause.
Axl did the show with a strep throat.
I don't know how he does it!
/jarmo"
I don't know how jarmo spins like this and lives with himself. Fuck him.
At a charity gig of this nature, you have to show strength over adversity. It is what it is all about.
Strep throat and similar conditions can exist for years, and for a vocalist can represent a major challenge.
As a 2005 member, one would expect slightly more depth?
Well, due to my age, I'm all out of patience. Axl has been using the "sick" excuse for years. He used it on the Illusions tour for God's sake! The truth is he's a master of self-sabotage. He doesn't rehearse or prepare or respect his audience, but when he embarrasses himself, he won't own up to it.
I have no patience with people trying to whitewash this. I know better.
All based on hearsay
Or common sense....lol, sorry not trying to fight
It is cool hehe, I am just saying, if Axl cancelled because of a strep throat, given who turned up to watch, it just would not feel right?

When I saw the "I don't know how he does it" part I started laughing. This guy is incredible
Because you are perfoming knowing that the results will be uncertain and the world is looking and analysing you.
Imagine being Axl and reading this thread after taking the decision to perform
Most people here are locked up in their bedrooms hidden away from the real pressures of life, and most of those (pressures) would not compare to this, to be honest.
Strongly disagree. A lot of us have jobs, mortgages, children etc. very real pressures. I'm sure being in the public eye is not easy, but his pressures do not trump those of the average person, we who do not have the benefit of his wealth I might add.
There is no reason Axl should not have been successful. He had many advantages to starting his own band, and he's squandered every one of them.
To be fair, you are not in a position to disagree. You are only in a position to judge your own stresses and how you deal with them

if axl really has strep throat as jarmo and fernando say...axl should postpone tonight
No, the audience represent sectors of society who have been presented with huge challenges, it would not look good for Axl to cancel.
Are you genuinely that daft?

Genuinely, jumping up and down on a Guns performance at a charity gig has to be a new low for some posters here.
I watch the performance and the audience at the show, then read some of the posts here and just shake my head at how God's dice rolls sometimes.

What happened at the end with RTB? How did the relationship between Guns and RTB break down?
The one chance I got to speak to RTB, he would not speak about Axl, and he quite offish if truth be told
However if you speak to Beavan or Youth or to any other producer, they speak about their experience with Guns in a positive manner.

Shane?
I agree with Dazey, the name 'Shane' is more offensive than any curse/swear word

If I was 19 again, I would never feel the need in a dance club to dance like I was riding a horse.
It is worse that spelling out YMCA on the dancefloor, surely

Which of you have unyielding faith in what the future will bring for Guns n Roses? Share your thoughts.
The band need to keep touring, and they have kept that going very well.
Axl needs to put himself out there more; promotion is always key.
And new material has to appear next year, really, to keep up momentum for the ongoing tours.
Which Pearl Jam song most reminds you of a GNR song?

When Pearl Jam came out though, they were very different to other bands at the time. The Screaming Trees and other bands were around too, and were ok in their own right, but became popular after PJ developed the sound.. Paw were a good band too actually, I liked their first album. They had a similar feel as well
Anyway, I saw Pearl Jam live when they released Ten, and to this very day, it remains one of the best amazing concerts I have ever seen. I saw Nirvana live between before Nevermind and after Bleach, and thought they were terrible. I like Nevermind later on, but always thought they were awful live.
The reason you think Pearl Jam sounds like other bands is that other band copied them later on, same with Guns and any other band that was successful.
