  1. If Chinese Democracy had been released as "Axl Rose & Friends" or something, either way, without the GN'R name attached to it at all, do you think people on both sides would view it differently? For example, would the people who hate it with a passion hate it less?

For this thread, I will call you Sir Numbnutalot as you a numb nut, very often.

Guns N' Roses existed before AFD and after AFD as Guns N' Roses. As an FYI, the band the 'Roses' on the name, Sir Numbnutalot. I wonder where that came from.

  2. Please, just feck off you complete knob end. Your posts are idiotic, there is nothing of any consequence, you speak negatively of Axl's weight and Axl's mousetache, and promote leaks blah blah blah.

Genuinely, please go away. You are the atypical someone that I would hate in real life. You spend your life on the internet bashing a 50 year old rock star because he is not quite the person he was, but still tries to give his everything for the people that do want to see him and enjoys what he does.

There are people on this forum worth ten of you, and they do not post because you post this shit. Real genuine fans.

I would not even waste my spit on you to be honest.

Honestly, something along these lines could be said to at least 15 people on here.

Well, I am trigger happy tonight and my sentiments go to those 15 people who are on your list, username.

I am getting fed up with the idiots here. I maybe do not post here too often, but I like to read the forums in the mornings when I am having breakfast, and I hate the kindergarten posts here slating new gnr. I say, if you were not a teen in 1987, or do not understand how GN'R came together blah blah blah, then 'jog on', or whatever the young ones say now.

  3. I've been in the GN'R online community since 2002...Been around for the dry spells, the dull moments, the great moments, the horrible ones...All those times, there was always one big elephant in the room that ensured that there was always something to talk about: CD hadn't been released, but we'd heard songs from it, and we could speculate about CD and have hope for it's release even in the driest spells.

But what about now? There is no album on the horizon as far as we've been told. The last time Axl talked about new music he seemed utterly disinterested in the idea of a new record. That was about 3 years ago...We get some vague mutterings here and there from the new band, but if the CD era proved anything, it's that the new band isn't really kept in the loop. I have no doubt that there is more material, probably a lot more actually, but the question is: Will it ever come out? If so, when? Is it even finished, or has Axl yet to set down vocals and lyrics? We don't really have any clue...We don't even have a title of the "next album" whereas we knew CD would be named CD since around 1999 or 2000. There was never a question of "IF" CD would come out, it was always more a question of "When?" We aren't able to ask WHEN about future material now, but we're forced to ask "IF" Axl will ever release new material....and that's pretty depressing in and of itself, the idea that Axl might never release anything new....

There's no leaks to talk about, there's no new songs in the set to discuss, there's no lineup changes. Any one of these three things would at the very least be cause for discussion, anticipation and possibly excitement. We have no idea what the future holds for GN'R...We don't even really have a clue what the next record will sound like. If we had a leak, or even just one new song in the set, it'd create a massive amount of discussion...

But instead we've got the same tour for the last 6 years basically with some covers and UYI songs thrown in, Axl lost his voice again and instead of sounding awesome like during 2010, he sounds like it's 2002 all over again. He's getting older and older every year. Most seem to be in agreement that Bumblefoot and Ashba are both lesser replacements and less likely to make great new music than Bucket and Robin were, so we have arguably subpar replacements. What is there to talk about? The exciting setlist? The fact that it's 2012 and Axl still comes on late? Bumblefoot's beard? Axl's ugly mustache or his weight? How great 2010 was? All we're doing lately is fighting amongst each other and right now there's nothing even worth fighting over, nothing fresh or new to debate and discuss except concerts where it's pretty much the same setlist every night...CD is going to be 4 years old, we never got any music videos, and there's not even a single leak of future material, there's not even any chat about a new album, not even a tentative title of it....

Does anyone else agree it seems more bleak than it has in the past? As was sung in a great song, "Where do we go now?"

I have had a shit day working X Factor in Glasgow and I will take it out on you, hazaa!

As it is mygnr, I will be blunt.

  4. NME have written -some- fair articles on GN'R, but this guy is a complete knob, and would never get a job as a serious journalist anywhere.

We like to bump Axl as a rebel in the UK, and for the most part we do it well and we promote Guns as a true old fashioned rock band, misunderstood by everyone, but regarded as a band who should be preserved because there is noone else like them, which is true.

  5. Touring is key for Guns now.

Guns need to enter the studio after the current tour, no messing about, and record and put out an album either before Xmas, or April/May next year.

Axl will lose his highest and lowest pitches as he gets older, but his mid ranges will mature and become richer, so he needs to bear that in mind with his choice of song.

  6. Perhaps its time to quit giving models priority........

I entirely agree. It is not about them being models, it is about how old they are.

If it is the case that a drunk, drugged out younger model has done this accidentally, and gets a criminal record because of this after handing in the swag to police within 48 hours, I would be very disappointed with GN'R and their invites for younger models at their concerts.

    Let's see what happens

If it is the case that a drunk, drugged out younger model has done this

    accidentally

    What!?!?

Mate, how do you steel $2,000 worth of jewelery "accidentally"

"....honestly officer!!! I got on the night bus and then fuck me you would NOT believe it, i've got a quarter of a million dollars worth of Axl Roses's jewelery in my back pocket. but please remember though, In my defense though, I was shit faced..."

Could not agree more. It doesn't make it okay just cause she was drunk. I also doubt that she didn't know what she was stealing just because she was drunk. It's Axl Rose, of course the jewelry would be expensive.

I made out with a lady at a party I do not remeber going to, and I woke up 25 miles away with her engagement ring in my pocket, somehow, and she woke up with my jewellery I had been given for my 16th birthday which was valuable.

I have many other similar stories, like I said.

Hehe, I have had 30 years of partying. I could tell you a story or two, especially items that have gone missing and turned up later on.

My uncle had a 2 million pound Chinese vase disappear because a cocktail had been made in it, and the drinkers decided to take the remnants of the cocktail home with them

  9. I can definitely hear the circus fanfare sound in the riff, but.....I can't put my finger on it!

Is there a certain scale that is done in circus fanfare or something that sounds reminiscent of sweet child o mine?

Anyway, I'm asking because I'm wanting to create a killer guitar riff that's similar to nursery rhymes. You know, I'm wanting the riff to sound really nostalgic and timeless.

But to do so, I'm trying to figure out how Slash pulled off a circus sounding theme...I know Circus music is kind of wacky sounding...And the riff to sweet child is...I dont' know

    Mind explaining it to me??

Billy Smart's Circus visited the Stoke area in the Summer of 1969 I believe, so it is plausible that a 4 year old Slash visited the circus that Summer, and the sights and sounds have remained with him ever since. Also, it is worth pointing the Top Hat is synomynous with ringmasters, and is one of the many images we relate to the circus.

It is possible that later in life, Slash's slightly mixed up memory of circus music inspired the riff to SCOM

  10. Are these models putting out before and after the shows? Axl's the Heidi Fleiss of rock.

I just want to point that Randy started a thread that referred to these ladies as 'P', think of the last GN'R song on CD, pluralised.

You, sir, are disgusting, and I am glad the thread was deleted. It could have been potentially liablilous, and you are showing no respect to this forum or it's new owners by posting such filth.

I never said they were prostitutes though. I just thought that Axl might be opening himself up to potential lawsuits and investigations by flaunting these models around.

The band never asked for the models, that is on record. And those that noticed your deleted post also noticed your reference to prostitution.

If that was forwarded to the model agencies, that could empty your wallet very quickly.

  12. msl,that's disgusting.

Slash is free to sue MSL if the comments are wrong, to be fair.

It is clear text, written in a public environment.

If someone comunicates with Slash, forward them on and let him deal with it and let's see what happens.

Yeah I am sure Slash will be losing sleep over what MSL thinks and says about him........... :rofl-lol:

Haha, I agree with your sentiment.

To be fair though, it is better that talking about the original subject. The world will be thinking that the UK has turned into a grandad society, what with the publicity over the furore over late nights, pretty girls being given free tickets and this Slash T shirt nonsense.

    Colon: facepalm

  13. Everytime I hear it again, it sounds like the greatest song on CD. I feel like if they could reproduce it live it would be epic. The "Ask yourself" part is high on my list of GNR highlights.

It is my favourite song off CD, right now anyway.

  14. Had a great time at last nights show in London, but the models and bimbos milling around the side of the stage was an insult to the fans.

You could tell none of them knew any of the words or had any genuine interest in the music. Some of the girls were more interested in checking their cellphones and chatting to the security than enjoying the show. Not really fair when there are hardcore fans who have stood by the band for years who would give their left limb to have that view.

    Not cool Axl.

    This is old school, genuinely.

Brit-bands such as Whitesnake and Magnum used to have this. It is nornally down to the promoter, or a filming crew recording a DVD

  15. Went to see GN'R last night with a mate who got free tickets and just a quick review really -

Good - Axl's voice and perfomance were brilliant

DJ and Fortus were better guitarists than I gave them credit for and nailed a lot of the parts really well

Tommy's bass sounded awesome; really clear in the mix

Good mix of old and new stuff, especially Shacklers, but cont. in points below. November Rain was the song of the night for me

Bad - Apart from Chinese.... opening, the rest of the CD songs really killed the set I thought, especially Sorry after such killer first few songs. Shame because they were played really well, but I guess the majority aren't familiar with them

The solo spots also killed the momentum, I'm glad Dizzy knows the three chords to Baba o' Riley, but it was pretty obvious when people were heading to the bar/toilet when that, Motivation and Glad To Be Here were played.

Overall I really enjoyed it! We were in standing section and it never really got busy, which was cool and I'd probably estimate the arena was about 7/10 full, which dwindled further into the set, just as an observation.

Oh and that Thin Lizzy cover band weren't too bad either!

Obviously, you enjoyed the concert, but do you think you would have enjoyed it more if you had actually purchased the tickets?

I always remember a conversation I had years ago with a guy that worked with Raw Power magazine in the UK, and he said one of the reviewers who worked for Raw at the time reviewed a concert he purchased tickets for, and he mentioned in private afterwards that if he had got in for free, he said he probably would have been more critical in the review. I got similar comments from a guy I lived near in Surrey Quays who reviewed a play called 'Art' in London years ago. He had purchased tickets for the show anyway, so his employers got him to review it.

  16. But...uhm...it won't change anything...GnR won't start sooner so that's just stupid...

Exactly, which means fans will just have to wait longer without getting an opening act to appease them.

This. In fact, the difference between the start of the two Dublin shows (2010 and 2012) was the fact there was two opening acts this year, which meant Thin Lizzy finished later and as a result, the wait until Guns wasn't so bad for most people.

This is a stupid decision and could prove extremely detrimental to the tour.

It is a storm in a teacup

I am sure you are linked with the original poster and his forum. If so, give it up.

Bravo Sherlock, but what does that have to do with anything?

Well, your forum is central to adjectives such as 'detrimental'.

In the real world, this whole saga is a big bag of 'whatever'.
