  1. Did everyone catch Conor McGregor in Dublin? How fucking wild was that? If you missed the first fight - please go back and watch Paddy Holohan (no, I'm not making him up, he is a real person, i swear). It was amazing.

I was at it. Easily the best sports event I've been to. From Hoolahan, and Pendred taking a ferocious beatdown and pulling out the choke in the 2nd, the atmosphere was phenomenal from the start, I barely used my seat.

Also seen today that Mike King got popped for steroids so that's a nice hundred grand fight bonus for Pendred.

  2. Plot details for season 2:

The second season of True Detective will follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt City Manager of a fictional California city who’s found brutally murdered amidst a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change the freeway gridlock in California.
Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought.
Caspar’s 52-year-old corpse is found on a lonely stretch of the PCH near Big Sur - his eye burned out, genitals cut off and satanic symbols etched on his chest. It turns out he had a penchant for rough sex and may have been involved in the occult.

  3. I thought the copy I watched must have been an early screener with a lot of post-production elements missing but apparently not... the film just looks like shit. Nothing but Stallone patting himself on the back for two hours whilst making a valiant attempt to move his face.

  4. As long as Hamas and the Likoed party are in control there will be no peace. Both don't even seem to want it.

The ones suffering are the innocent Palestinian people and children losing everything, it's horrible.

    /thread

A Conservative Israeli party combined with a bunch of terrorists like Hamas is simply a recipe for disaster.

It's beyond (obviously) easy to see by anyone without extreme bias, it's ridiculous. That's why some of the comments in this thread are perplexing...to say the least.

The most perplexing comment in this thread has been you accusing Grame of anti-semitism because you couldn't grasp the concept of analogy.

  5. NF,

im not gonna pretend i know what's going on there.

Well, then ask questions. Don't just mindlessly spread misinformation. It's a dangerous position to take and unfortunately one I feel is adopted far too often on this issue by people who have taken no more than a cursory glance at it.

Despite your reservations about the honesty of Amnesty International, I think I'll take their word over CNN quoting the Israeli ambassador. There is no evidence which supports the idea that Hamas deliberately and strategically endanger Palestinians civilians. Although if you read the report I cited you'll find cases in which it is the IDF, who are guilty of "human shields":

In several cases Israeli soldiers also used civilians, including children, as “human shields”, endangering their lives by forcing them to remain in or near houses which they took over and used as military positions. Some were forced to carry out dangerous tasks such as inspecting properties or objects suspected of being booby-trapped. Soldiers also took position and launched attacks from and around inhabited houses, exposing local residents to the danger of attacks or of being caught in the crossfire.

  6. as far as i get it, civilians are being warned by Tsahal before the missile strikes. but Hamas don't let them out, which is not surprising as they are their human shields. while Hamas leadres are sitting in underground bunkers and hardly imagine the scope of destruction

    [citation needed]

The "human shield" myth is nothing more than flimsy propaganda that somehow pins the blame on the victim for being underneath the dropping bombs. It's ridiculous.

    http://www.amnesty.org/en/library/asset/MDE15/015/2009/en/8f299083-9a74-4853-860f-0563725e633a/mde150152009en.pdf

Contrary to repeated allegations by Israeli officials of the use of ‘human shields,’ Amnesty International found no evidence that Hamas or other Palestinian fighters directed the movement of civilians to shield military objectives from attacks. It found no evidence that Hamas or other armed groups forced residents to stay in or around buildings used by fighters, nor that fighters prevented residents from leaving buildings or areas which had been commandeered by militants.

  7. Have any of you guys bothered to talk to anyone from the area? I've spoken to both Jews AND Arabs that actually live in there and in the middle east and the one thing they both agree on is that Jews have ALWAYS lived in the area. Pre- Israel and Pre-Palestine.

And the U.S. has given land back to Native Americans....probably more land than all of Israel, actually. They're called reservations.

So if it makes you feel any better, just call Israel a Jewish Reservation. ;)

And any Palestinian's blood should be on the hands of Hamas. Blaming this specific conflict on Israel is the same as blaming any Sovereign nation for defending itself. It's not their fault Hamas are a bunch of idiots.. I mean, seriously, who would do something of the sort? Like I said earlier, it would be the same thing if Cuba started to launch missiles at the U.S. What do they expect was going to happen?

then turn down a cease fire when israel already agreed to stop, but the evil jews are the crazy ones.

They turned down a ceasefire drafted entirely by Israel and its ally - Egyptian president Sisi. A ceasefire in which the supposed mediator excluded one party entirely from the process. Accepting the ceasefire proposed would mean acceping the illegal blockade that has reduced the sliver of land they are allowed to live on to poverty and hunger. That's not an option for Hamas - something Israel knows full well. It was merely an excuse to launch a ground invasion. If Hamas were not interested in a ceasefire at all then they would not have proposed their own 24 hours later.

It's fair to say Hamas aren't blameless in this conflict. But to try and absolve Israel entirely because of that is fucking ridiculous. And to blame the Palestinian people for "putting up with Hamas", or whatever way you want to phrase it is equally so.

and Palestinian people probably should understand that when they welcome terrorists to put anti-aircraft missile in their residential quarters, it might be dangerous for their health

The Gaza strip is one of the most densely populated areas on Earth. The entire thing is residential quarters. Secondly - maybe they aren't quick to embrace a return to the status quo because that means a return to confinement within a blockade that excludes any access to the outside world and controls the border, coastal waters, resources, airspace and power supply... additionally the people holding the keys seem perfectly fine with killing 500 of your neighbours in a week.

  8. I agree we shouldn't be backing them, but Israel is there, defending itself, and it's winning. Sorry Palestine, move on.

The worlds fourth largest military is "defending itself" against one of its most deprived and densely populated territories by launching a full scale armed assault. For the third time in five years. This is not a defence operation. Do you honestly think Israelis cower in fear every time the air raid sirens go off? No. They sleep safely at night and joke about it in the morning. The idea that Israel is responding in such merciless, devastating fashion because they're being crippled by a hail or rockets is pure fantasy.

This current situation would be like if, after the IRA terrorist campaign in England in the 70's, the British Army retaliated by carpet bombing West Belfast.

  9. It says a lot about America that they all have their willys chopped off when they are young.

Not to mention Israel...and every muslim nation in the world  Singling out the colonies like that Dies', shame on you

The difference being that in America it seems to bes carried out mostly for aesthetic reasons. Which is fucking ridiculous if you think about it... just gonna chop off a bit of your dick! Like you're giving the kid a haircut.

  10. I actually disagree with that. It's such a generalisation to say that kids today are a lot smarter than they were before the Internet.

Of course it's a generalization. A "kid" is a generalisation of a human being under a certain age. Unsurprisingly though you're still wrong. Just take a look at what you said:

"It's such a generalisation to say that kids today are a lot smarter than they were before they had access to a global library of knowledge in the palm of their hand ."

It's common fucking sense. Our tools make us smarter and the internet is one hell of a tool. The smart kid with easy access to the information they need is more likely to fulfil their potential than the kid who doesn't. Of course he also has access to vast amounts of pornography but therein lies the challenge.

    :rofl-lol:

Wen did I say that? I NEVER fucking said what you put in quotation marks above. You just made that up!

Fucking hell, at least quote me word for word if you're going to argue something I posted.

And fucking LOL at the predictable likes when you didn't even quote what I actually posted!

For the sake of historic accuracy this is what I posted:

I actually disagree with that. It's such a generalisation to say that kids today are a lot smarter than they were before the Internet. Kids before the Internet read books and took as much interest in history, science, art, and making stuff as they do today.

Hmmm.....I suspect a hater just trying to argue with me for the sake of arguing........

    Wow.

It appears that whatever credit I afforded you(basic comprehension skills) was entirely too much.

  11. That Mario Maker is a nice little feature. I managed to grab a Gamecube with 13 games off eBay yesterday for £45, can't wait to finally get stuck into MGS: Twin Snakes. I've no doubt I'll complain about differences from the original but I've waited this damn long I'm going to enjoy it.

The differences aren't that bad, after a long wait you probably won't notice many of them. Hardcore MGS fans hate it though.

I don't know if I'd consider myself a hardcore MGS fan so hopefully it'll be alright. I'm going to play through them all before Phantom Pain, just trying to work out whether to do it in release order or timeline order. I've still not played Peace Walker yet, I've got it in the HD collection but just never bothered to get around to it.

Release order. Always release order. It makes the storyline much more powerful that way, in my opinion.

I have no idea why some people seem to think playing through the series in timeline order is a good idea... it would make absolutely no sense.

One of the reasons Snake Eater is so good is because you've been hearing about this legendary Big Boss character throughout the past games, so the experience of actually getting to play through his story is that much more enjoyable.

  12. What do you do when your computers crash? Exactly. You are fucked, arn't you? Freddie Flintoff, drunk and without a paddle?

The lights sometimes go out in my house. Fuck electricity entirely i'll just use candles.

  13. Dana said its a contender fight but only for Vitor, makes no sense to me. Surely if Chael wins he should also be entitled to it?

It makes no sense for it be a contender fight at all really given that they're fighting at 205. Vitor's number one contender so he's just fighting to keep that(and he was going to have to wait for the winner of Machida/Weidman on the same card anyway).

  14. This is an amazing fight for Chael. He gets the chance to skip to the top of the middleweight queue - a queue that Anderson Silva is no longer the head of. Vitor's wrestling isn't great and Sonnen is usually smart enough to keep his hands up. If he could do that and shoot he wins rounds against Vitor easily. Just gotta watch out for the jiu-jitsu. TRTless Vitor could be an entirely different fighter.. dude could gas in the first couple rounds.

Also - lost a ton of respect for Wandy. He just legitimised everything Chael's been saying about him the for the last month.

  15. TJ was about +1150 before the fight

Not even close man. He was +580.

He was officially the biggest underdog in UFC Championship history and destroyed him.

Dunno about that. Serra was +850 when he beat GSP.

I'll be the first to admit I never gave TJ a chance though. Barao looked unstoppable. A credit to the coaching skills of big bang Ludwig.

odds aside, this was a bigger upset without question.

We all know "anything can happen in MMA" and you can file the Serra-GSP fight as such, GSP got caught and that was that.

TJ destroyed Barao over 4.5 rounds finishing him late in the fight, it was not a lucky shot but rather total domination. This was far more shocking than a "lucky punch"

If TJ had knocked him out with that big right hand in round 1 there would have been some GSP-Serra type questions, where he dominated him over many rounds it was a complete victory.

I agree completely. I was just questioning the "officially" part. When Barao when to his corner and they told him he had to take him down I remember thinking, "Wow, they just told a guy who's considered by some to be the best pound for pound striker in the world that he can't stand with TJ Dillashaw". It's insane how much that guy improved in the space of a few fights.
