  1. did some deadlifts today. at the end, another one of my trainer's clients asked him if I was prepping for a bodybuilding show because I go heavy and do some things differently than they do. I was like umm no lol. I'm not nearly big enough for that or look good enough nor would I want to go to that extreme. But I guess it was a flattering comment

  2. Does anyone else dislike bicep me like me?

I just feel like I am not working out hard enough when I do biceps. Like I lift until I can't anymore, but I just don't feel the soreness like I do on leg day.

maybe you're just not doing it right or maybe you need to switch it up.

    I usually do:

    curls (heavy)

hammer curls (light to medium really focusing on feeling the burn. if I can do 20 reps then im happy)

and then ill find a 3rd exercise to do. maybe heavy on the EZ curl bar or find a machine. theres always something.

  3. Shitty workout today and I kinda knew it was going to happen going in. Double kettlebell rack squat and double kettlebell rack lunges. I made the most of it so it wasn't horrible...just wasn't great

That's what someone with fatceps would say.

    lol

  4. deadlifts for me today. very excited about it. i've been hitting new records every week. I just started deadlifting about three months ago because it's something I was always scared to do by myself. Now that I have a trainer to keep my form in check it's been amazing. Gainz have shot up like crazy and my entire body has changed.

    How much are you pulling?

lets see if I can remember what I did today.

    stretched/warm ups

    deadlifts:

135 x 10 (followed by light kettle bell swings)

185 x 6 (followed by light kettle bell swings)

    225 x 6 (new PR)

    250 x 3 (new PR)

    205 x 6

    205 x 6

sleds with 4 plates (went light today) for 5 minutes

feel really good afterwards. normally i'm dying but I feel good. 250 x 3 is pretty good considering I could barely do 135 two-three months ago. The goal is three plates by the end of the summer. Thursday is squat day.

  6. I think Arnold's goals contradict each other at this point in time. Sure he can achieve what he wants but it's going to take a lot longer the way he is doing it now. I suggested no cardio, or at least different from what he's doing, because he's burning too many calories and he's having a hard enough time taking calories in. Lith has some very good suggestions. I would also suggest, if you can afford it, to get a personal trainer at your gym once or twice a week. The guidance and structure will drastically help you out. Even pro athletes still use PTs so its not just for people that don't know anything.

  7. Arnold - try weight gainer shakes. I use ON Pro Complex with 650 calories. I don't use the 1,000+ gainers because its just too much fat.

edit: just saw you're also running (3 miles). That's counter productive to keeping calories and gaining weight. If you're gonna do cardio then just do some sprints, but keep it short, or just do your workouts with little rest in between sets and/or do supersets.

  8. Regarding the story that Axl forced Slash and Duff to sign over their rights to the name....I can't imagine him blackmailing them into signing something on the spot, when one or both could have possibly been under the influence of something at the time, could hold up in court. "Under duress".

Why do only Slash and Duff have rights to the name now? No Izzy or Steven? Yes, Steven would probably have sold his share of the band name to a crack dealer by now, but still...I recall there being stories that Slash/Duff have rights and receiver royalties from certain old band associated things like logos, etc....actually wasn't there a minor legal incident between Axl/Slash in recent years for one of the new shirts using a logo Slash designed?

you brought up a number of legal issues, hopefully I can cover them all.

You're certainly correct about the duress issue. That's something many people don't seem to understand. About a year or two ago the partnership agreement that gives Axl the GNR name was posted online and shows Slash and Duff signing on different dates at a time when they weren't even on tour. You can google the topic easily.

Slash and Duff have no rights to the GNR name. They only have rights to the old music and to approve anything regarding the old band. Steven doesn't have rights because he was fired from the band and one of the conditions of getting a 'severance' package was signing over the name. There were lawsuits about whether or not he knew what he was signing because he claims he is illiterate (seriously). Izzy quit the band and signed over all rights regarding business decisions as well. So that leaves Axl, Duff, and Slash as partners in GNR Music.

I think thats all the issues there

Regarding the shirts and logos - Axl and the new band are not allowed to use the old logos (legally) without the Partnership's permission. Of course promoters always use the old logos on advertisements so i'm sure Slash is just 'whatever' about it.

  9. Axl registers anything related to present day GNR under Black Frog Music and anything related to the old band to Guns N' Roses, Inc., correct? I see this as more evidence of the wheels beginning to turn for a reunion tour and possibly a new album. It seems so far fetch because we've been fans so long and the era of Nu GNR has gone on seemingly forever, but this is still not impossible. Especially since the former members are healthy and are pretty much all on speaking terms. Slash and Axl could be on good terms again but publically acknowledging a new found friendship would certainly ruin the surprise.

If they do it, I hope Axl gets the vocal training he'll need to pull this off successfully.

Nothing regarding Black Frog vs. GNR Music Inc. suggest a reunion or some sort of change in relationship between Slash and Axl. Black Frog is the legal entity Axl uses to control post-Slash Guns N Roses. Everything new is registered, trademarked, published, owned, etc by Black Frog. Everything from '85-96ish is controlled by Guns N Roses Music, Inc. Without consent of all members of GNR Music Inc. (Slash, Duff, Axl) nothing happens. That's how the two legal entities have been set up forever. Nothing new is going on.

  10. from the guy that conducted the interview:

Hey everyone. This is Mike Mazzarone and I was the one that conducted the interview.

I will do my best to really explain the situation here. When I confirmed regarding the interview with Ron, I was never, under any circumstance told by his publicist that anything was off limits. Therefore and logically we used questions regarding Scott Weiland, GNR, and more hot button topics. Softballs were included and we are going to do a full review of the album, however when I was told "Did you get the memo about no GNR questions", that was the first time I had heard such a thing. By Ron himself. I had many more questions that I was going to use and that wasn't useable because of that last second curveball. Ron never told me that it was due to legal issues or a gag order, he said that he just didn't want to discuss it. While he did answer the three parter, he even felt nervous about that.

I honestly put full blame on the publicist, however Ron was just as unprofessional about his handling over the phone about it. However, and I can't stress this enough, I was never told ONCE that any questions about Guns N' Roses were off limits.

Well, I truly believe that if you don't want me to ask something then that should laid out. The PR actually emailed me a second time, today saying that Bumblefoot contacted me on a wrong number, so he had multiple chances to e-mail me and state that "do not talk about this or that". To make it seem like it's common knowledge is insulting to me. Their PR never even e-mailed me the album when I requested for it, so I couldn't really ask anything about the album. I had sent follow ups or no avail so it would be something that I could not ask him anyway.

I am trying to get a digital copy for review purposes but I think all of you can understand that it would be impossible for me to ask questions on something that I don't really have any familiarity with. I stuck with what I did know and I don't see any fault in that. If anyone wants to single anyone out, blame their PR. Not me or AlternativeNation.

  11. huge thanks to you rhiad. there's a lot of big interesting tidbits in there.

Not only do we have to look forward to the 2004ish era Richard material but we get to look forward to Richard/DJ written material as well. I'm guessing the problem with Ron not contributing is that he's not 'emailing' his ideas to the band since he has always stated he wants to get in a room together.

Hopefully some youtube videos pop up because I want to hear Richard talk about this stuff and hear him play Better.

  12. In one of the Axl chats he mentions originally recording TIL with a hip hop drum loop, so 99 would seem to check out more so than 2010.

can you pinpoint that quote please?

Comparing vocals done on re-recorded Sweet Child for Big Daddy, the entire Live Era vocals, songs like Catcher, and more, there is NO way I can believe that the vocals for this new version of TIL were done in 1999 and not 2010.

    Found it:

Rex: Axl, do you think This I Love is still the heaviest thing you've written, or has another song popped up that now holds that title?

Axl: That's still it and ultimately a great healing experience to compose something you have no real idea you're capable of such as the bridge. It's a lot more intricate than I think most realize yet as the guitar and vocals are placed as they should be so dominant. The main string melody in that section I had originally written to a hip-hop loop as well.

    From chat #3.

Yeah, he said 'originally written to' rather than recorded with, but still. Seems like it could make this an earlier version. On the other hand, could be for the remix album.

thanks for the pin cite. I still firmly believe this was done for the remix album. But now I wouldn't doubt that he got the idea from the original hip-hop loop as well. Personally I can't really picture the album version, as slow and heart felt as its suppose to be, to have a hip-hop beat to it. The remix version is pretty cool though because the strings from the album version are on top of the hip-hop beat and it sounds dope

    Prove it or shut it.
lol *rolls eyes* my position has been same since day 1. people know ive heard it and thats it

  15. If anyone wants to try to track down GNR-related courtroom info:

    http://www.laalmanac.com/_main/LACountyRecords.htm#archives

My link was fine, it might be cookie settings, but it's from archive.org because the original site it came off of was dead. When that happens, you have to go to archive.org and use the Wayback Machine to find dead websites (and you can look at the beginnings of mygnrforum on there).

The all important case # can also be used to look at the court summary on LA county's court site. Seymour vs Rose is something no one's ever seen on here (maybe there's video?), or the file for Adler vs GNR (we've seen parts of the video but not the whole thing).

there is nothing like videos that you're going to find in the court records. that's not how the system works. I've seen Seymour vs Rose listed, as well as other cases such as Rose/All State Insurance, Rose/CrazyStalkerLady, etc. If you get access to the court records you're going to get briefs, motions, orders, and depending on the judge/case you may luck out and get a few exhibits (evidence) and/or depositions/declarations. All legal documents.

  16. Not for anything but, could all of this constant, uh, "litigation" or whatever it's called, help to possibly explain why nuGNR (fucking hate that term. swear it's the only time I'll ever use it, so help me God) stayed in silence and without motion for so many years? As if to say like, legal stuff prevented them from planning tours & releasing albums and stuff? Axl's said that before and I've always taken his word for it. With all of these docs, it just irons it in even more for me.

It can't help. I'm not sure if there's a direct suit against Axl using the name to release an album as GNR. I guess he couldn't be talking about it in the press cos it might jeopardise things.

Nothing regarding the name legally prevented Axl from releasing an album as GNR. Slowing down matters because of stress and other factors, most likely yes. Regarding touring, that was legally delayed thanks to Azoff.

I have read so many legal documents from many of the suits that it all blends together, ahhhh

  17. 4. But now Axl isn't a partner in the original GNR! Wow, this actually makes sense to me. Axl quit the original partnership-- so therefore Axl has no legal rights involving whatever original GNR owns! AFD, UYI, Lies... That partnership is what Axl quit. So therefore, only slash and duff have the legal right to make decisions involving those albums.

Axl IS a partner. This was settled during the 2004(?) lawsuit when Slash and Duff sued Axl over past royalties for merchandise or whatever. This is the same lawsuit where Slash and Duff submitted the Partnership Agreement document themselves! ( I know some people have trouble understanding that lol). So Axl is a partner and all three must sign off on everything related to GNR pre-Chinese era

  18. reading opinions in this thread is giving me a headache. Honest question, how many of you have actually read all (or at least some) of the briefs?

Regarding the statute of limitations issue, the argument Axl was making was promissory estoppel. It was a question of when does the clock start running when Activision continued to offer/promise/persuade Axl different things in order to NOT file suit. Axl also claimed Azoff and Doc kept delaying his filing of the suit by wanting to wait to see what Activision would give him.

Another thing people here do not take into consideration is that there was an oral agreement between Activision and Beta. Beta was an agent on behalf of Axl. Beta asked Axl and Axl OK'd the deal after Activision orally told Beta there would be no Slash (Or Velvet Revolver) represented in the game. Then there was a follow-up 'confirmation' email by Activision to Beta but that email left out a lot of details which left a lot of room for argument in favor of Activision. In court, you HAVE to look at both the oral agreement and the follow-up email.

One more thing to note, the summary judgment was argued and granted for something Beta had said. She basically contradicted herself. I don't remember what it was.

  19. go to the Coors brewery.

But it's such terrible beer... Is the brewery itself worth checking out in it's own right?

lol. I like coors light. I haven't had a chance to check it out but hopefully I will eventually when I go visit my brother
