  1. Sounds chaotic. Another song Bumble-Foot can't perform.

The funny part is that he's always nailing the song - his solos always sound flawless, even when he does his improvisation things - which, to me, sound so goddamn cool!

  2. Rather than bitching that the guitarists arent Slash. How about you put he guitarists on their own merit?

When they do something outstanding under the GNR banner, I'm sure it will be talked about. Right now some of those guys are touring behind an album they never even played on...

They did. And they're still doing. Whether you - and other people for that matter - recognize that or not ain't my business.

  3. when it comes to playing guitar in a technical , robotic if you like, way then bbf and bh are your choice but when it comes to feeling when there is nothing between a player and his axe slash is up there with some of the top players.

I hate when people say "feel", what feel? His out of tune bends and his terrible use of the same blues scale for 20 years isn't feeling.

This is the way to make a solo sound legendary, when in fact it is a simple and/or repetitive solo. The words feeling and attitude are greatly overrated on GnR fan forums.

Thank you for your comment, by the way.

  4. If you're going to post someone else's comments, at least act like a man and ask him if he's cool with it. If he's saying something to someone through personal email, I guess it's personal and should not go public. If he wanted to say something publicly, he'd do it via twitter, fb or his forum. That's how you should act. He was nice and honest replying an email, you should be nice and honest to him as well.

On the other hand... stop talking about his own feelings and actions. This is getting ridiculous and out of hand. Seriously, Ron did not blame anyone. He didn't say it was Axl's or Doc's fault. Stop reading too much into it. Can't you all act like normal people at least once? It's a band, a tour, not your lives. I hope everything's cool, I'd love to see some proshot footage of the tour, but c'mon. Stop spreading ridiculous rumors and putting words into his mouth. Leave the man alone! Stop emailing him and asking "hey, man, heard you were pissed at Axl... hope everything's fine". He's got lots of things to do, he's a busy man.

Why don't mods delete Ron's email? He didn't ask anyone to post it, it's personal, should be deleted imo. Or at least edit the email bits - also the quoted posts...

  5. i'm not trying to add to any rumors, but it just doesn't seem like bbf is happy being in new gnr. let's face it guys, if your accepting a position in this band, you're doing so as an employee of this band. you have no say when you tour, you don't decide what is A vs B list material, you are not allowed to discuss this band with anyone from the press or media. you are an employee who will shut your mouth and do what you're told, when you're told.

if he left i'm happy for him. i don't think he ever really fit gnr anyway. it's cool that he's willing to do interviews and conversate with the fans, but what's the use if a gag order is preventing him from being able to talk about axl and his new gnr.

Are you in the band or what? Stop this. You don't know them, you don't know Ron. You believe in what you want, but please stop this "it doesn't seem like bbf is happy" because you DO NOT FUCKING KNOW ANYTHING.

  6. especially this one:

This is a great jam ! Haven't heard it before. Love Bumble's playing at the beginning of the video.

The chord progressions are standard though. I don't think it's much more than a jam though. But it does sound excellent.

Wow, Bumble's playing is fucking awesome! I have this jam but haven't heard it in a while. Awesome jam, it really does sound excellent.

  7. This forum is full of posers with too loud voices. Saying the same popularity bullshit over and over won't make Slash better than, let's say, Buckethead. The popularity argument should belong to a Britney Spears vs Lady Gaga discussion.

I mean, listen to the new Godfather theme by Slash. He's throwing notes everywhere trying to sound fast - but where's his big creativity? He forgot it with Axl n' Izzy. Because, ya know, without them he's an (above) average guitarist at best. You all know that, even if you like his playing and his songs.

Yes, I'm glad GnR broke up. Now Axl has a much better guitar combo in Ron, Ashba, Paul and Richard :)

  8. Of course Hendrix was way more essential to rock music than Bucket could ever hope to be, just like Elvis Presley was more essential than Mike Patton...

Doesn't mean you can't like the latter more and think they are better at what they do, for the simple reason that comparing rock legends to underground or alternative outcasts is pointless, especially if their respective carriers were four decades appart...

This is exactly what I'm trying to say. Thank you for having better words to describe it rock1

As for the record: I like Govan's and Buckethead's music better than The Beatles' music.

  9. He'll never touch Hendrix - I'm not talking about technical skill, cool?

I think the only reason why people say this is because of the respect for the classic age of rock. Hendrix is basically god with the guitar, and was ahead of his time, but in all honesty, he was mainly a hard rock blues man. Buckethead covers all corners of virtually all styles of music. I also think people write him off right as a novelty stunt guitarist also because of his persona. You see a guy wearing a KFC bucket on his head you think that he's good for a laugh, an oh or ah maybe, but you don't really look into his work. Yes he does do crazy stunt filled songs like Welcome To Bucketheadland, or Jordan, but listen to his album Colma, and songs like Soothsayer, Allowed to play and Whitewash (which is on Colma). I mean he may be virtuosic, but he can play with such melody and emotion that the songs really do come alive, especially when almost all his songs have no lyrics. He is more than just affects, and again, if you listen to Colma, you can see what he can do with just an acoustic, especially on the song For Mom, which is a great example. The man puts his soul into music and it's a shame people don't see behind the personality and number of bands he played with, because honestly, he is one of the great songwriters of our time, with Hendrix.

Not to take away from Hendrix, but in my opinion Bucket is better, because of the soul and versatility he puts into his work, and he is really all about the music.

Once I said that Guthrie Govan is better than The Beatles guys put together. He's may be better than them technique-wise, but honestly, what would have been music without The Beatles and what would have been music without Guthrie Govan? There's a hude difference between Hendrix and Buckethead. The bucket guy is a great musician, plays more styles, he's a more technical player and... Jimi influenced a whole generation, he came up with stuff no one had done before. I'm not talking about playing style only, I'm talking about wah wah, distortion and stuff like that as well. Really, Bucket didn't come up with stuff like Hendrix did. I don't even believe I'm actually saying these things. This is an statement that would make Brian Carroll shake his head at. He'd be the first to disagree with this comparison.

  10. Are you Buckethead fanboys really saying that he's much better than Jimi Hendrix? Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. He's one of the best guitarists of our time, but comparing him to Hendrix is like comparing Slash to Eddie Van Halen. A killswitch and whammy pedal effects will never be enough to make someone "ahead of his time". You don't have a fucking clue of what you're talking about. The "Bucket is better than Ron, he plays more styles n' all" is pure bullshit as well. You clearly don't know Ron's career, so please, don't talk about what you don't know. Even in Chi Dem... Buckethead's stuff untouchable? Please, gimme a break. Repeating several patterns and playing the same lick over and over won't make his stuff untouchable. In fact Robin's stuff was more creative, as he doesn't play the same notes and use a wah wah pedal to make it sound fresh and new. Ron isn't on the same league as Buckethead, he's on the same league as Guthrie Govan or, dare I say, Shawn Fucking Lane. Buckethead is far away from that. Someone mentioned the song Jordan by Buckethead. Really? A killswitch that was easily emulated by Ron even in 2006, when he had not a killswitch installed on his guitar? I'll mention Guitars Still Suck or Lost by Bumblefoot. When you realize how hard is to play those extremely fast licks, note for note, that he plays on Guitars Still Suck you won't ever say those things you mentioned. Or when you realize that even in the November Rain solo Bucket couldn't keep his guitar on the right tone and Ron doesn't go out of tune with his fretless guitar you might as well stop saying those ridiculous afirmations. When some of you try to play the polyrhythm riffs in Lost you'll see what I mean.

In fact I love Buckethead, but comparing him to Jimi Hendrix was ridiculous, an out of this world comparison. He'll never touch Hendrix - I'm not talking about technical skill, cool?

  11. I missed it and can't wait for him to put it back up somewhere. Shame that some users used this thread to argue when it was completely uncalled for but whatever.

About Tommy despising playing the old band's stuff-wouldn't you rather play your own music instead of playing someone elses music over and over and over? Just don't look at it as Tommy insulting the old band.

I guess they don't have problems with that. Just look at them playing Whole Lotta Rosie or Sonic Reducer - they all love to perform these songs and yet they didn't write them. It's just a matter of playing what you like.

  12. The most expensive album ever made should sell more than 5-6 million copies.

CD is the Waterworld of the music industry, not the Titanic.

I guess ya ignore the fact that they recorded like 3 albums worth of material that will see the light of the day someday. Who said it should sell more? Only ya's, the haters of the new band. We're not posers like Britney Spears fans thinking the album should sell more than 6 million copies to be considered an amazing album. Sorry if you're like that - and I happen to think that you, Nintari, BBA and some others are.

  13. for fuck sake you fucking deluded moron, for once stand corrected

you keep bitching about every fucking thing you can find, go fucking kill yourself

    you fucking cunt

i kinda had it with morons like you who are on gn'r boards just crying about everything

couldn't you for once enjoy what we have now? because it ain't gonna change you know

and if this post will get me banned, then fine

because cupcakes and people stirring shit up don't get a fucking warning or anything

You've made the best post of the week. Thank you.

  14. He yet has to write a song which has even 1% of Bucket's quality

Riad N' The bedouins and Street of Dreams.

Bucket was promised by Axl it would be done that way, that he wasn't going to be just a session player like Tommy boy is

That's obviously not true at all since we know that Tommy is some kind of band co-leader - he's the guy saying "we should play this" besides Axl on stage.

And now all he has in his band are session guitar players, not 1 guy with real quality

One of the leading virtuosos in the world is in the band and you dare to say that. You obviously don't know him, or Richard, or even Ashba - all of them are great players.

Granted, I give both those guys there due (Bucket), but it seems to me if they were so great, people would have heard of them.

Well, perhaps they are not mainstream whores like Slash? I'm pretty sure you haven't heard of Guthrie Govan or Shawn Lane, but they still are light-years ahead of Slash musically - and Buckethead for that matter. They just happen to love music, not money. ;)
