  1. Blind Melon was an incredible band, however i don't think the new band might "ruin" the legacy, what stupid kind of shit is that? its like, since the vocalist died they cant make more music like they did, its stupid to say so, if they dont manage to make good music who gives a fuck, original blind melon still kicksass, im interested in seeing whats going to happen.

  2. I gave my hopes up years ago jajaja (which doesn't mean i dont come on this board once in a while to check it out or always have guns on my ipod, it just means im not fixated on it as i used to be)....but for those who still have them....keep on rocking gunners!!!!!!

  3. I just love that some racist, bigoted fucks on here choose to ignore that a lot of the muslims do not agree with this statement and that a muslim even has a restaurant named after the legend, and go on to say 'fuck the muslims' as if it was the majority saying it and not just the leader of a moronic organization.

couldn't have said it better myself

  4. DAMN!! now i'll have to see that piece of crap...it just pisses me off to see the award for the best muscician of the year go to Puff Dady or Snoop Dog...you don't need to be a muscician to do that crap...

  5. I did a thread about this in My World but it died immediatley...

Yeah its a shame that this so called "Pro Music" is killing the main source of information on how to play songs. These people are nothing more than greedy pigs that think by making tabs illegal we will have to by their books (Hal Leonard, etc...which btw sometimes are very wrong and cost 30 bucks). TABS are NOT illegal, they are the interpretation of a song, not commercialized or sold in any way, its an interpretation of something, how can that be illegal? NMPA is using scaretactis to make these webs shut down.

I think the only way to stop them is not to buy any more of their products, boycott them, till they apologize. I know i won't be buying shit from them. These are the people who send others into war for money, these are the people who would do practicly anything for money, disgusting greedy fat pigs.

    KNOWLEDGE IS NOT ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!

  6. Well...to start off Epi's are made in factory lines and Les Pauls are finished, neck fitted, fret filed, hand sanded and scraped by people, and then go through an intense inspection, Epi's just pass through the machines and are sent away.

Secondly, Epi's dont have good quality woods, so they don't get the sustain and crunch they get from real mahogany and maple.

Gibsons are also treated with essential oils before they are shipped

  7. when I hear it from Axl i'll believe it...and when I do i'll drink myself to unconsiousness (sp?) and wake up the day it is released...

  8. Noticed how latley some big Tab supporting sites have gone down? Well that's because the NMPA (National Music Publishers' Association) is using Scaretactis to make them shut down.

To all "Guitar Tab Universe" visitors:

The company which owns this website has been indirectly threatened (via our ISP) with legal action by the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) as well as the Music Publishers' Association (MPA) on the basis that sharing tablature constitutes copyright infringement. At what point does describing how one plays a song on guitar become an issue of copyright infringment? This website, among other things, helps users teach eachother how they play guitar parts for many different songs. This is the way music teachers have behaved since the first music was ever created. The difference here is that the information is shared by way of a new technology: the Internet.

When you are jamming with a friend and you show him/her the chords for a song you heard on the radio, is that copyright infringement? What about if you helped him/her remember the chord progression or riff by writing it down on, say, a napkin... infringement? If he/she calls you later that night on the phone or e-mails you and you respond via one of those methods, are you infringing? I don't know... but I would really like to know. If anyone has information on this, please email support@guitartabs.cc.

Apparently, the NMPA/MPA believes that the Internet may be on the foul side of the legality line they would like to draw here. For me, I see no difference. It's teachers educating students and covered as a 'fair use' of the tablature. The teachers here don't even get paid nor do the students have to pay this website to access the lessons.

An attack on this website is really an attack on every one of you who have told someone (in person, or via the written word, telephone, or e-mail) how you play a song on guitar. And who, especially among small websites, has the deep pockets to fight the NMPA/MPA? They use scare tactics while there is, in fact, no legal precedent on this matter (to the best of our knowledge). If you are interested in expressing your opinion to the NMPA/MPA, contact them via their respective websites. Please do not resort to vulgar language or insults.

Millions of people use the Internet to learn guitar, in one form or another. It appears the NMPA/MPA and their members do not want to support us and help us further our education. To you visitors from outside the USA or UK, can you find your favorite artists' "official sheet music" at your local music store? Even in the United States and United Kingdom, we often can not. The NMPA/MPA have a choice to make: either they support us as aspiring guitarists, or they choose to alienate their customer base. To date, not one sheet music publisher has contacted this website to either inquire as to our activities or to express interest in any type of dialogue or collaboration whatsoever. All we deserve is a cold, indirect, impersonal threat without any explanation? They should embrace new technologies or else become relics of the old economy.

Since I'm now 'worried' about working around tabs at all, I'm in a tough situation! Luckily, I'm fairly confident that if I alone listen to a song and then figure out how to play it by ear, I will then be able to enjoy using that knowledge to practice and improve my guitar playing skills. Is that what is necessary for everyone to do? Work these things out alone? What a sad situation. noani.gif

    Sincerely,

    Rob Balch

    Manager of "Guitar Tab Universe"

I find this disgusting. How can an interpretation of a musical piece be illegal? especially if you're not selling it? The only reason I see the NMPA might have to this is that if they get to shut down Tab Sites people will HAVE to buy their tablature books. Greed...

Any thoughts on this? Any suggestions on what should be done to stop this?
