  1. Due to overwhelming demand? Where from exactly?

The fans that are going to sell out these shows?

You honestly think these will be sell out shows? They've already opened up the presale to anyone that visits their page.

It's highly unlikely Gn'R sells all 36,000 tickets or whatever the exact number is. The shows will be full though as casinos give a lot of these tickets away to big spending gamblers. The Hard Rock makes money from people gambling and staying in their hotel, not by selling $50 Gn'R tickets. Giving them away means there will be a good mix of die-hard fans and casual ones who were given the tickets for free.

I can see why someone who is flying in would wanna buy these tickets in advance as opposed to getting them for half price on the day of the show from Craigslist.

Tbf, the early entry tickets have a chance of selling out, I think those are the ones the die-hards who are flying in will want as well.

$95 is pretty decent for early entry included, that's the only thing I'd ever want from a "VIP package", never been tempted by the lithos and meet and greets etc. from the $200+ tickets from the last tour.

$95? I thought the early entry VIPs were $125?

    That is correct

  2. I know that in my heart of hearts Guns N' Roses/Sweet Child O' Mine's in Eb, tuned half a step down from E, or is it?

I've found that moving a whole fret up (how one achieve's the transition from Eb to E) gets me playing Sweet Child O' Mine... It's like I know the song, what I knew was okay, move it up a fret and I'm playing it...

Or maybe it was just a backing track in E instead of Eb?

I forget right now but I was wondering about this last week.

A lot of backing tracks are in E.

All GNR albums are recorded in Eb except some tunes on CD that are E standard.

Some CD tunes are tuned down to B also. Such as Shackler's, ITW, and Scraped. And Better is C#

  3. Hard to say. They haven't played anywhere near me since I saw them in 2010 in Canada and it has been very disappointing to find that he hasn't maintained that level of performance even 1 year later (RIR 2011) and hasn't brought it back up 3 years later.

Maybe I would see them just because it's been a few years if they come to my neighbourhood. But ideally, I'd love if they were even doing one thing well - if the live performance is too tough to maintain I'd be happy to see them become a studio band as long as they release new material. If Axl sounds like 2010 again then I could handle endless touring with no new music because the live shows would be so good.

  4. @MH

If you think it's cool that this band 'makes an effort', you should check out almost any other big rock band's fanclub. Get ready for the rapture!

From what I've seen, Nightrain pretty much offers a fan-only website, guitar picks, keychains, onsale privileges for shows, and "exclusive video chats" that folks on here for some reason chose to interpret as "video chats where band members must tell us an album is being worked up for release".

It shouldn't surprise anybody that their fan club is bare-bones in terms of features. Axl has said he abhors the idea of charging people money to meet him. Good for him, I think it's stupid too. Metallica and Kiss do that. Good for them. Not every band does, it's their choice. Not sure where in the fan club literature it offers fans the opportunity to pick setlists, dictate when they record albums or where they tour, or when they choose to release news about their endeavors.

Neil Peart from Rush is notoriously not fan-friendly. 99% of Rush fans could care less because he more than delivers when he's obligated to - when he's making albums and playing shows. Of all the bands I follow, I find GN'R fans are by far the hardest to please. I'd be stoked if any band I'm into put out news like GN'R just did.

Metallica don't charge for meet and greets. And their fanclub is of comparable price to GNR yet it is worlds better. GNR DO charge for meet and greets and you meet maybe 2-3 members that aren't Axl.

  5. So if that were the case for GNR, I would offer upwards of $50

I never understood this. If Axl wants to make an album. If he doesn't, tough luck. I want to hear another album, don't get me wrong. But if he'll only make an album if I (and many others) would horribly overpay for it he can shove it. I would morally object to spending money on any jackass who would only be bothers to get off his lazy ass and do his job when I overpay him.

That's what this would feel like to me. I'd happily pay for a Guns n' Roses album offering new material. But I won't OVERpay for it just to get Axl off his ass.

Well I wasn't saying I'd pay upwards of $50 just for the album. I agree that would be overpaying. But to draw the parallel with what I'm getting for that amount with Sevendust, I get ongoing online updates/insight into the making of the record, I get a poster autographed by the whole band, and I also get the album on CD and digital. Plus, they don't charge my credit card until they meet their goal for funding.

If that were the case for GNR I'd jump at the chance. But I agree, $50 just for the record would not be something I'd be into.

  6. I just did this for Sevendust's new acoustic album. I paid $55 for a copy of the CD, regular updates online and a signed poster. The cool part is that if they don't reach the funding goal they have, then I will not be charged at all. So if that were the case for GNR, I would offer upwards of $50. As long as there were similar perks to what I just pledged for Sevendust.

  7. Anyone else agree?

2001 Axl went out of his way to give us new songs and show us how great the band still is

    2002 Toured with new material

2006-2007 Toured with new material, Chinese Democracy was close

    2008 Chinese Democracy

2009-2010 Toured Chinese Democracy (almost all the songs on the album were played)

2011 Rio (we all know what happened here)

    2011-2013 Same setlist...no new music...no information...no hope

I totally agree with this statement. What the hell happened? New GNR was exciting up until Rio 2011

  8. His message is basically blaming touring for nothing else happening. Most bands would not have to throw every single other thing by the wayside just because they are touring. At the bare minimum they could still manage their fanclub in a respectable way and update the fans. Most bands could also tour and would still manage to get a DVD released.

Team Brazil is a joke for many reasons but the fact that they can only do one thing at a time is ridiculous.

  9. This is probably too little too late. When the club started in early 2012 there was promise with the live streams and Bumble taking part now and then on the forum but really once they got your money it was all downhill and total dogshit. Once again, they are making promises that sound enticing but I bet the Bumble chat is the only video chat they do and it takes them another 2 years to come up with a new membership package.

I want to want to join but it just sucked SO bad last time around.

  10. I listen to it a few times a week and think its great. You must spend a bit of time on reddit, right?

    Huh, reddit? No, not really.

Been too busy listening to other new music.

Usually when a GNR song leaked I didn't listen to anything *BUT* that song for a long time. Sort of crazy but true.

I certainly didn't forget "Better" a few weeks after I first listened to it.

I feel similar. When other leaks from CD came out they were incredible and I couldn't leave them alone. I forgot all about Going Down. Listened once or twice and don't care for it.

  11. Dude that's one of the reasons I have mixed emotions, lol. I mean she sings it great, sure, but of the entire illustrious catalog you pick that? It's right up there with having an entire Judas Priest catalog and picking "Dissident Aggressor"! Imagine a band doing that! ...

    sigh

I knew Lzzy when she was a kid starting out, so I'm a die hard supporter regardless, but man some of these choices.

Slayer covered that exact Priest song on South of Heaven in the 80s. It kicks ass too.

  12. Definitely not an excuse. He is just lazy

3-hour shows on a regular basis ≠ lazy.

He could be suffering from depression, he could be on meds that cause weight gain, he could have a thyroid problem, who the hell knows. We shouldn't judge without knowing the facts.

But I agree his age alone shouldn't be used as an excuse.

Exhibit B (4 years older than Axl):

    OOOOHHHh.jpg

Phoning in a 3-hour show IS lazy. A 3-hour work day is nothing to be impressed by, especially when you half-ass those 3 hours. Add to that that the other important part of his job when touring and leading up to touring is rehearsal and keeping your voice in shape which he obviously doesn't bother with. Yea I'd say he is lazy.

He should take a lesson from Prince, as you pictured. Age is no excuse.
