  1. More is bound to come out. The longer we go with no official releases the less people will care. I hope Axl understands that. If i were Axl, i would take the 3 tracks, Going Down definitely being one of them, and release a $3 Ep. The music industry is completely different now and GNR releasing an album in any traditional sense would not benefit the band. The public generally looks down on Axl at this point, so a quick 3 songs that kick ass could get people talking. I love Chinese, but most people didn't even give it a chance. Why would they give a new album a chance now? Going Down already got some people talking positive. If Axl or his management new what they were doing these leaks wouldn't be a bad thing to them. Its high time they look in the mirror and recognize that times have changed and the most dedicated of fans are losing interest. When the original leaks happened this forum blew the fuck up. These past leaks...not so much.

Part of the lower level of excitement is that the last leaks all had Axl on lead vocals and they were all new songs. And they were all good songs. This time it is remix, 2 alternate versions and one ok new song with Axl on back up.

  2. Right now, in the world of GNR, what (if anything) gets your heart pumping?

    Not much really.

Touring is cool - but if they aren't in my state and if they aren't playing new songs, then it really isn't that big of a deal.

Ashba Swag doesn't excite me. Ron's hot sauce doesn't excite me. Having Team Brazil as management doesn't excite me. Axl Rose basebal cards don't excite me.

The only thing exciting is if the band releases new music. An Axl Rose autobiography would be awesome.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be a die-hard fan of a band like Megadeth? A band that puts out an album basically every two years. Imagine having six or seven albums from Axl since the old band split up. Sigh.

Yep, being a diehard fan of Megadeth is pretty damn awesome :)

  3. They should drop the S and call it Bluefest. It's not "Labatt Blues" anyway it's "Labatt Blue" so it would make sense and make it less confusing to casual festival types who see the name pop up.

Now the big question, will there be other Canadian shows... I'd love to see a solo Ampitheatre show in Toronto. And they could do something like Oshawa or Kitchener if they want to hit markets they haven't done before (not to mention Victoria out in B.C.). I really wish canucks would do the festival thing more. We don't even seem to be getting HeavyTO this year.

There is no HeavyTO this year.

I hope there is a more comprehensive Canadian tour. Else just get off the road and put out some new music!

  4. A couple of you are missing the point. I'm not sure if you are doing intentionally or to just try and rile people up.

Metallica isn't making music for you (the ones who think they suck). They are making music for their FANS.

So to say that GnR makes better music, you'd rather have one GnR album than 10 Metallica albums - all that has nothing to do with this actual topic. Metallica fans say they same thing about CD.

YOUR personal preference on what type of music you enjoy has nothing to do with how fan-friendly a band is.

The question is how come Metallica puts out albums, videos, dvds, interviews on a regular basis - but GnR can't? The answer to that question has nothing to do with how much you like/dislike Metallica's music.

Right on, this is getting way off topic.

  5. But Master of Puppets can't appeal to the masses. It's a thrash album. The Black Album has a lot of catchy and radio-friendly songs. I think Master of Puppets is a classic album, at least in metal. Just like Rust in Peace and Reign in Blood are classics too, imho.

This is true. Metallica are first and foremost a thrash metal band. MOP, RTL, AJFA, KEA are all classic metal albums. The fact that a thrash metal band was also able to crossover and have massive mainstream success with the black album is testament to why they deserve all the credit they get. They are a classic band. They have classic metal albums (probably more than 1 of the top 10 metal albums ever) and even a huge selling classic rock album in the black album. I don't know why anyone is saying they reject the black album either, they just played it on tour all the way through last year as an anniversary celebration.

In terms of why they get away with promoting Death Magnetic, they only toured it from 2008 (or 2009?) to 2010. After that they have had special live events that are not based on death magnetic. Things like the 30th anniversary shows in California. Imagine if GNR did 4 special club shows for their fan club for $19.81 (for all 4 shows) and every single set was different covering all kinds of rare songs and guest appearances. It would be a dream. Lately Metallica were doing a massive live production called the full arsenal where they brought out all the old effects from past tours such as the lady justice statue, the load-era stage destruction, the snake pit from the black album etc. Filmed it all for a live 3d movie due in August. Note that nobody doubts that this live movie will actually be released unlike GNR!

They have also put together their own 2 day festival in the states last year and it is returning this year. They don't have to "get away" with anything, all the things they do are different and keep their fans interested. They keep very busy, engage the fans and I can say it is a hell of a lot easier and more satisfying being a Metallica fan that it is being a GNR fan.

  6. This is just fucking disgusting. Can someone list all the "benefits" of having the $50 membership?

I agree with the general consensus that Nightrain has been a farce so far. That said, the purpose of the postcard was to indicate GNR are going to try and drastically improve the concept for its paid membership.

I think the only thing the postcard indicates is that they are someday going to FINALLY offer a new membership package. One that is already months overdue.

  7. The complete quote on the Silkworms thing:

Rob Erdem: Hey Richard, Axl said recently that he's planning on releasing silkworms this year, any chance that the song will feature on the next album?

Aaron Desveaux: Hey man, silkworms was a rough demo of prostitute or rhiad & the benodunis

Rob Erdem: no, its not a demo of prostitute or rhiad, its an original song. Richard can you shed some light on perhaps new music this year?

Richard: Aaron, you are mistaken and Rob, you are correct.

So it could be Richard is replying to the confusing regarding what Silkworms are, and not necessarily whether it will be released this year.

It seems very clear now given the proper context that his answer is regarding Silkworms being an original song and not that it will feature on a new album.

  8. at the risk of upsetting the mods and having this thread exiled to attitude, can i ask if we ever heard the fate of the beach towel? are these shitty promotions actually being followed through on? or is beta's promotional strategy with shirts and towels similar to her strategy with concert DVDs and TV specials? is it all about the hype? or does the band actually plan on following through with any of these plans?

i know concert DVDs, albums and TV specials are big and hard to organize and orchestrate. maybe beta's just cutting her teeth on towel and t-shirt giveaways? like once she gets this figured out, she'll graduate to the next level of band management?

    Lol.

Nightrain did send out the towel. Or they claim that it is on the way. Haven't seen the person state that they received it on the forum at Nightrain yet but it's still early and they might not announce it.

I think Beta and Fernando have nothing to do with the towel and the t-shirt. That's why it looks like people will actually receive them! Fernando said he lost the autographed poster that was offered at the start of the club as a contest prize. As soon as he is not involved the contests seem to be followed through to the end. Even though the prizes suck.

I don't really get the logic behind that. Fernando seems to be with Axl 24/7 most of the time. How hard would it be to get him to sign more posters?

It would not be hard but he either doesn't take his job seriously or he just plain sucks at it.

  10. It's pretty clear that the band has little/nothing to do with Night Train besides cashing the checks. In fact, the webmaster is probably frantically rummaging through his own closet as we speak trying to find some giveaways for you ingrates... so have a little respect.

I think this is pretty much right on. Blame the band and management. They have left Nightrain staff scrambling and despite the 3 month extensions and the best efforts of Nightrain staff, nobody will renew without the band pulling their weight.

  11. Only a size large, if it doesn't fit.... well then that's just too damn bad lol

This is perhaps the funniest/saddest part. It probably belongs to one of the guys who runs the Nightrain club and since GNR doesn't do jack-shit to be involved in that site that is all they have to work with. At least they are trying.

They originally had an autographed poster contest which would have been awesome except Fernando admitted he had it mailed to the wrong hotel and lost it. It obviously would have been way too much trouble to ask the guys he works with every day for 2 seconds each to wave their hand for a signature to replace it (sarcasm). So as much as it is funny to make fun of how pathetic the latest Nightrain contests have been, one of the guys who works for them said himself that whenever they receive the poster they will award it. A year later and they never got anything from Fernando and are left trying to keep the place alive with contests for whatever junk they have available.

I'm sure if GNR would authorise/provide any "exclusive content" Nightrain would gladly post it but GNR haven't done so obviously.

  12. Most of us already owned GNR t shirts, so the merchandise while cool, wasn't a big incentive to join.

We joined because we finally thought things were getting serious and wanted to be a part of it. Then nothing happened.

Yep, that's what I thought when I joined.

  13. Yep, total dog shit. Some people did VIP but obviously Axl doesn't show up to any of those VIP meet & greets. I guess that perk still made it worth it to some but they haven't toured anywhere near me in 3 years so the club is absolute crap from my perspective.
