  1. I don't know if one can say that... They sound very tight, and appear to be extremely cohesive... And heck, Axl seems more jovial than EVER.

Chinese Democracy is right up there in my favorite records, so the vastly changing unit that was GNR from 97 to 2008 was pretty f'n good!

But I am very curious to see what Ron, DJ and Fortus can add from a writing standpoint... As Richard said... His favorite GNR song is one we've yet to hear. Maybe this lineup has a SCOM or Jungle-like single in the works for the 21st century

  2. Imagine if Prince joined GN'R. Just picture how amazing every guitar solo would be.

    1) Slash

    2) Prince

    3) Everyone else.

    Beautiful.

Not to discredit Prince and bring up Gn'R in this thread, but that solo reminded me of Buckethead's solo in TWAT.

I'm sure it would be more likely to see Elvis vacationing in Atlantis with the Lochness Monster and Bigfoot, but could you imagine if Axl Rose and Prince collaborated.

Two recluses-- Two failed exclusive albums-- One epic record.

  3. Clutch is fucking awesome. I really enjoy the diversity of their music. Beale St. is a great example of the band.

You can go from humorous songs like "When Vegans Attack" to a classic rocker-- "Electric Worry" then to slow it down with a sexy trance-inducing groove like "White's Ferry"

Plus I saw Clutch last year--- My first real rock show I've been to. I've always heard clutch referred to as the hardest working band in America... Now I know why.

  4. I can't wait to watch all of that....

BTW, to those people commenting about acquiring audio rips instead. You can personally do that. Once we all get access to the video files you can rip the audio as it plays on your computer.

I'm a PC user and I use "Audacity" to record the WAV output on my computer. Besides that, it's an excellent, FREE, cross-platform audio program. Plus, it's safe.

  5. A minute of Jungle.

Is it just me or doesnt Axl seem more of his old self on stage, more confident, more intense and moves around a lot more like the old days? He looks GREAT!

It's not just you. I thought the same. He's moving around like in the old days, confident, dancing and running like he owns the shit out of that audience, it's much better than 2006/07. And his voice is just great now!

Axl looks fucking great there. He's got the Venom back in his voice! rock3

My god. It definitely is as good as the old days, but if it's not going out on a limb, his voice is more vicious and violent than ever.

Man! That once minute clip fucking rocked.

I was anticipating that he would hold that "Yeaaaaaaaaaah" note, 46 seconds in... He didn't but he just fucking barks it like some fucking demon. This rocks.

  6. Well, maybe I'm considering this a little too late... seeing as many of the great seats are gone.

And maybe I'm just a little upset that Them Crooked Vultures here in LA sold out within seconds... But I am seriously considering flying up to Calgary to see Gn'R next year.

I've been doing research as far as plane tix and everything. I may just make a weekend out of it and come right back after the show.

Sure it may seem a little absurd to fly to another country just for a few hours, but this is Guns N' Roses 2k. You never know when they could just call it quits.

Is anyone else from the States or abroad planning on going?

  7. Wow.....I love this stuff.

It's fun, back to basics stuff. Heavy handed drum fills, and beautifully woven guitars. Even if it isn't new, it's amazing because no one does it much anymore. Reminds me of juliette lewis's new album which i also have. it's good grooves and fun.

Really good call on the Juliette Lewis thing. I'm listening to it right now. Just Breathe just started.

So far it's ok. I really like The Fixer, great single. We'll see how I like it, I've pretty much always hated Pearl Jam, but I am giving this a chance.

  8. We're a few months away from a new decade. Crazy, huh?

There has been so much shit put out these past years, it's not even funny... So here I am asking for your opinions on some of the better singles to have come out recently.

A few that come to mind for me...

    Better- Guns N' Roses

    Slither- Velvet Revolver

    10001110101- Clutch

Seven Nation Army- The White Stripes

Go With The Flow- Queens of the Stone Age

  9. Vocals: Axl Rose

Axl's vocals can be very harsh and overpowering at times, but when I think of a rock 'n' roll vocalist, I think of Axl. He has a spectacular set of pipes, with just the right amount of sleaze.

    Lead Guitar: John Frusciante

Just as Bumblefoot referenced The Edge, as playing the perfect note for each one of his songs... I feel that way towards John. Like the Red Hot Chili Peppers or not... Call them too commercial, whatever, John's guitar's just pound you with emotion.

    Rhythm Guitar: Keith Richards

I'm not even going by his look or anything. He's the most functional/ dysfunctional guitar player I've heard. He's insane, but he has written some of the greatest riffs ever. He knows his job. He doesn't try and show off. He lets his chords, and the structure tell the story.

Bass: Duff McKagan... I tried to make sure that no two members of the same band were on here, but I can't really help it.

Drums: John Bonhan or Jean Paul Gaster... DOA, you choose.

  10. Older- Thousand Miles From Nowhere... That video reminds me of my childhood. Whenever I hear the song, it immediately invokes desolation, loneliness and it's almost empowering at the same time. It gives me that maverick, Clint Eastwood, man with no name feeling.

Back when I was really into country music, I remember that CMT played this video all the time after 9/11, because the guy that directed it died that day. Gave such an eerie feeling everytime I saw it.

Wow, that's really crazy. As bad as that time I always look back on that year with a bittersweet admiration.

I mean, it's weird, but I remember watching so much CMT that year. I think that was the last great year for country music.

  11. Hey man!

Dwight is probably my favorite country artist. He's definitely in my top-10 list, from all genres.

Honestly I haven't done as much cataloging for any other group, than Guns. Gn'R my favorite band... Simple. I own all of their albums, and got a few old demos to boot.

    ----

But I own 5 Dwight albums... I know it's hard to call myself a die-hard fan if I don't know all of his songs, but I love the guy. I love his style, his musical taste. The more people that man influences the better.

    Favorite songs-

From what I've heard of his newer stuff "The Last Heart In Line" is musically the best.

I thought Blame the Vain was all in all really good. There was some strange experimenting goin' on there, but it all was pleasing to me.

The Last heart In Line though... Wow. I honestly think that song makes me more emotional than any other song I've ever heard.

That album accompanied me on a trip to Vegas a few years back, and that fucking thing just haunted me for some reason.

  12. Jesus, I just got back from a Clutch show at the House of Blues- Hollywood.

Hell of a band, hell of a collection and a hell of a show!

Lionize and Baroness opened up for them, and those guys were badass as well.

    -----

So-- Any Clutch fans on these here boards?

  13. I haven't really heard much of Ozzy's new music.

I think "I Don't Wanna Stop" wast the last single I heard from him. It's a good song in my opinion. Nothing epic or classic, but for what passes as rock today... That track knocks it out of the park.

    ----

Probably one reason I never really had an urge to listen is because... One, he's long gone off the rails. He's crazy... But who isn't  (that's my eyes scrolling to the top banner of this here forum)

Two, the whole "Ozzy" name has gone really commercial. I'm not saying that he's sold out or anything, but seeing his name on the album doesn't make me think Ozzy Osbourne. It makes me think of this band that tries too hard to create some metalapocolypse, and fails.

Then I just associate it with the whole Ozzfest, and The Osbournes. The man is a legend for god sake, but it almost seems that his albums are just merchandise in this Ozziverse.

    ----

He should take a lesson from Slash's Snakepit and what Slash is currently doing. In fact I think that Ozzy should do the same exact thing.

Unless he works with Black Sabbath again, he should just release an album without a regular band.

Of course having the Black Sabbath reunion or Tommy playing on Ozzy's next album is kind of... Well-- not going to happen. I'm not sure how that lawsuit is going, but I don't think they'd be on the same page for an album.

    ----

At the very least, maybe him and Axl can release a duet album. "Exiled"
