  1. Mexican Pizza, Beefy Frito Burritos, Potato Grillers, and other staples are gone. I'm ready to rework the lyrics and record my own Get In The Ring on these evil corporate bastards who are ruining the Bell. "CEO Mark King, what you pissed off because Taco John's sells more potatoes than you? Fuck you! Suck my fuckin' dick!"

Again, I am not critical of Steve. People here who  have met him have said he is nice to fans.  He comes across very nice, just a lil case of loose lips. Brain farts.

I can vouch for Steven being nice to fans. I went to an Adler's Appetite show. My small group decided to linger around the the outside of the venue. We met one of the other guy's in the band, who was great. He assumed we were waiting for Steven and said he'd let him know. I suspected that he was just being nice. Much to our surprise, Adler walked out to greet us a few minutes later. He posed for pictures and chatted with us like we were old friends. He could not have been nicer. The old "don't meet your heroes" line did not apply to Steven. Likewise, Duff was great when I met him about a week later at a book signing. I even mentioned that I saw Steven, and Duff seemed genuinely curious to know how he was doing. I wish I could say that Axl, Slash, and Izzy are great guys too, but those meetings are still on the bucket list. Sorry to take this stroll down memory lane, but the point is that Adler was very cool. He didn't offer us blowjobs so I'm not sure about the bi part, but no one in our group asked so you never know. Sorry, couldn't resist that last part.

Duff tells jokes at the start of Jericho's podcasts every week. Good of him to get involved in this!

The Legion of Doom were a poor mans Demolition.

Claiming that the Road Warriors are a poor man's Demolition is like saying Led Zeppelin is a poor man's Wolfmother. There literally would not have been a Demolition tag team had it not been for the huge success of the Road Warriors. Wrestlers today still use the phrase "Road Warriors pop" to describe a massive crowd reaction to an entrance. Not trying to be a dick, just providing a bit of background. A lot of wrestling fans who saw Demolition first assume that the LOD were the ripoffs because they arrived in WWE/F after Demolition was created. It really speaks to the massive popularity of the WWF back in those days.

  4. I'm in cheaper ticket mode. I broke the bank for the last tour and enjoyed the hell out of the experience, but I viewed it as once in a lifetime (yes, for Not In This Lifetime). I'm sure I'll be fired up by the time the tour stops in my area, but I've never felt so blah about a GNR tour announcement, and that includes the era without Slash and Duff. I consider myself a glass if half full type when it comes to GNR compared to a lot of folks on the board, but I definitely share in the feeling that I need new music to be truly excited about this tour. Fingers crossed.

  5. Pretty Tied Up is awful. In fairness, I didn't feel that way initially. I had a job where the radio was on all day. The local rock station was getting ready to shift to an alternative format (they are back to rock now) and they were really phoning it in. So rather than mix it up, they played Pretty Tied Up seemingly twice an hour. As much I love Guns, I grew to despise that song. I've skipped it whenever it comes up in my rotation even all these years later. I'll give in and give it another listen. I'm guessing I'd enjoy it again now that I'm over a couple decades removed from having it run into the ground.

  6. The movie did a great job of showcasing the debauchery, and there was some heart to the film on top of that. They really rushed through the split and then into the reunion. It felt like they needed more time. I also came away feeling like they had more than enough material that they could have turned this into a Netflix series rather than a film. Even so, the main actors did a nice job and there was never a dull moment. It was fun. And it's been hilarious to read some of the reviews from critics who hate it because it doesn't fit with the modern female empowerment movement. I'm all for equality, but this was based on their lives. It's as if these critics don't think the film should have been made or wanted the filmmakers to gloss over certain aspects to make it more female friendly. Give me a break. I give the movie a solid B+ for entertainment value despite some of the flaws.

  7. I think I saw the "good show" in Minneapolis. I believe they had two shows with Sound Garden and I don't recall a ridiculously long wait at the show I saw. In fact, I've been lucky to have seen them many times and never had a ridiculously long wait. My favorite wait was another Target Center show during the latter years of Axl & Friends. Despite all the talk of lateness, the band pretty much started at the same time each night. We were next door watching a good Sunday Night Football game. My brother, who isn't as big of a GNR fan as I am, was freaking out that we were going to miss the show. I kept assuring him that we'd be fine. The game ended, we walked next door, got to our seats, and the lights went down to start the show. I didn't have any interest in whoever was opening, so it could not have worked out any better. My brother looked at me and said, "Wow, you really know your band."

  8. The last couple of years have been a time of redemption for Axl Rose. He got the monkey off his back by reuniting with Slash and Duff, which should add all the financial security he'll ever need. Furthermore, the high praise he received from most on his work with AC/DC had to be validating for him. The meds thing is certainly possible too if that was an issue. I won't pretend to know anything about it, but the things I mentioned would not have been possible if he was experiencing mental health issues. I'm happy for him.

  9. I agree with those who pointed out that there are not big bucks in releasing a new album. Touring is where the money is at. That said, the fan in me will cling to "but what if..." They just made more money on this tour than they will probably ever come close to spending in their lives. My guess is that they are continuing to use the NITL tour name this summer with the goal of moving up the all-time list for highest grossing/attended tours. If money was the primary factor, changing the tour name is an easy way to make more money off the diehard fans (I personally would buy a newly named summer tour shirt). So perhaps they are motivated beyond just making money. Maybe it's about making history. And if the world says rock is dying/dead and there's no money to be made making records, what if they took on the challenge of proving the world wrong? Slash and Duff clearly enjoy recording and releasing new music based on their side projects so I assume they are all for a new record whether it's CD2 or something entirely new. Axl repaired his legacy with this tour and his work with Angus, and perhaps he's up for the idea of releasing something new. He seemed happier than he's been in years on this tour (based solely on his onstage demeanor as the tour went on). So I am clinging to the hope that he has his mojo back and wants to cement his legacy once and for all by releasing at least one more great album and ideally prove everyone wrong about the sad state of rock and there not being money in releasing new material. And, yes, I'll be the first to admit that this is an overly romantic fanboy dream, but sometimes that's what being a fan is all about.

The Stones were 100 times more controversial and offensive and they play all over the place.  I mean have you heard the lyrics of Brown Sugar?  There's loads of active bands out there with immensely offensive lyrics.

Of course on the offensive lyrics aspect, but GNR did the mega tour during what feels like the peak of the "we demand an apology or we will continue to complain about it on social media and once we get it we will find a new target" hysteria, so it just surprised me that they weren't targeted by someone. Happy it wasn't an issue.

As an aside and not as a criticism of the wording in the OP, but as a millennial all I can say is that the term PC - Politically Correct - seems redundant in the face of existing terms.  Please let me explain.  Being a misogynist is just being an uniformed asshole.  So we already have terms and norms to describe - and be critical of - that type of anti-social behaviour.  If some one is racist then they too are ignorant, hate filled, paranoid and anti social.  We have so many words and norms already in place.  And the terms used to prompt a reminder of those norms include "respect" or "be polite."  Creating a newer label like "PC" makes it seem like these are new rules, representing some sort of cultural shift.  All thats new, imho, is the power of social media.  Which amplifies real issues along with silliness and hysteria, across the social and political spectrum.  Again, not begrudging any one for using the term.  Its just something that stands out to me.

Sorry, that description wouldn't fit in the headline, so PC it was! For whatever it's worth, I lean left, but I tend to roll my eyes at what feels like a daily dose of people being offended just to be offended.

Not a single concert was cancelled in this NITL tour.....just the one in Hannover was delayed for lightning and they played a 3 hours set after that

My bad. It was a sightseeing trip to Jerusalem that was cancelled, not an actual show. Thanks for the correction.

  13. Anyone else surprised that the tour came and went without any notable backlash? Anything form One in a Million lyrics to Axl's alleged history of violence against women to past misogynistic lyrics could have made them easy targets for a do-gooder media crusader and/or any one of the billion protest groups we seem to have these days. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy it didn't happen and I loved the show I attended. Just saying that in this era of PC, I'm surprised there wasn't some type of mock outrage combined with a million millennial march.

Along the same lines, I wonder if this is part of the reason that Axl doesn't do many interviews. It wouldn't surprise me to see a media type try to make a name for himself/herself by railroading him. I tend to believe that most of the reason he stays quiet is that the mystery drives interest, but I wonder if this plays some part.

Forgive me if this has come up before. I lurk on a regular basis, but I don't have time to read everything.

  14. Wow, the end of the long road (yes, I know about the summer dates). Good for them and great for us as fans. There were plenty of predictions that they would implode early in the tour. Hell, I know I wondered. Here we are a couple years later and they pulled it off. The only cancellation was due to terrorism concerns. Was Axl even late for a gig? Amazing. What a fun ride. I hope they close it out in grand style tonight. Jealous of everyone attending. Have a blast!

  15. Mickey. Rasp. Whatever. The thing I've noticed is that the people who have the biggest issue with how he sings live are watching show after show after show online. In other words, he must be doing something right or you wouldn't be watching, you obsessive whack jobs (I can say that since I'm a diehard fan and would give myself the same label). I've said it before and I will say it again, he's not singing for anyone watching on Youtube. It's a live performance for the crowd in attendance and it's not meant to be dissected. Is his voice as strong as it was in 1990-something, no. He's 55 years-old and it's amazing he can still belt out these songs. If and when there's another album, then go ahead and judge the vocals because they are intended for you, not a live arena/stadium. Otherwise, you're just pissing in the wind. If the live crowd enjoys the show then it was a success. End of story.

Judging your reaction I think its safe to say you guys would praise and defend Axl if he took a shit while the band plays for 3 hours. They can do no wrong in your eyes. Sad.

Well, what kind of shit is it? Are we talking a whole turd, a steaming pile, or diarrhea? I really need you to be more specific before I can confirm or deny whether your assessment applies to me.
