You posted a pic of VR with Slash's singer? Cool story, bro. Tell it again...

That's like saying a picture of Axl's band is a bunch of guys nobody knows with Guns N' Roses' singer....

Oh yeah, that is what people say

Only difference is that "Axl's band of a bunch of guys nobody knows" IS Guns N' Roses, whether you agree or not. FACT: Slash, Matt, and Duff are in Velvet Revolver, not GNR. And Myles is the singer in Slash's solo project. What I said was true in every sense...

LOL pretty much. The debate about GNR will go on as usual, but really, it's VR with another singer. Nothing groundbreaking going on here.

I disagree. Adler and Gilby, plus all of them performing as GNR for the first time in ages. Pretty cool even though obviously it would have been so much better if a certain angry redhead had joined them.

  2. Do any of you "real" Axl fans think he wouldn't actually be having a blast if he was there partying with all these guys? As bitter an old man as he's become, I think he's going to regret not attending this.

Or maybe not. Maybe he's happy being holed up in his room eating cheetos and watching it on a choppy Internet stream.

maybe he is happy making a stand he believed in?

Which is....? What? There was really no good reason not to go.

Everyone has moments in their life where they look back and say, "Fuck, I was stupid - I really should/shouldn't have done that". I think while watching this, and you KNOW Axl is fucking watching this right now, he's going to regret not being part of it.

he didnt want to be used by a sham of an organization to gain money and get ratings by promoting the reunion angle. axl said fuck that why is that such a bad thing? if an organization was honoring you and were going to make you pay money to get in the door and charge you money to have your friends and family go in and you knew they were just using you to make money and increase their ratings you would go and smile all the way doing it?

I must have missed that statement in his lengthy press release.

  3. That's the problem with duplistic people. Adler and Slash are all cool and being "humble" on stage, but it's a sham. Keep in mind these guys have verbally crapped on Axl for the past 20 odd years. So if they present themselves as being all cool and having their shit together, it generates alot of fuck you Axl posts as the simpletons then are easily corralled into thinking the problems that exist with the old GnR lineup are purely down to Axl.

Ever think that they crapped on Axl because he deserved it. With Duff, Slash, Izzy, Adler, Gilby all saying the same thing about the guy, perhaps it may have been justified criticism.

And it's insane to blame these guys for walking away. If you were in a business/partnership/marriage and the other party/person was treating you like shit, wouldn't you extricate yourself from that situation. It's like blaming a woman for leaving an abusive husband. Doesn't mean that these guys aren't without their faults (ie drugs, booze), but their problems weren't so bad that the others quit on them.

I know Axl doesn't want to give these guys their moments, but why is everyone here begrudging these guys for celebrating their pasts. Remember, these are the guys responsible for most of the songs you're going to see Axl and his band play this past year and upcoming summer.

It's amazing that on a night like this we can't be happy for a group of guys that gave us so much and are giving back to the fans by honoring the music we hold so dear.

Axl didn't begrudge these guys their moment of glory, he simply stated he personally wasn't going. Izzy also did not show up.

Some pretty revisionist thinking here if you think Axl was solely to blame for old GnR not being around. Last I checked he & Izzy were the last of the original era members left. I'm by no means being apologetic with regards to Axl. I'm sure he's a very difficult guy to deal with at times, but you'd be a fool if you thought the same wasn't true for Adler and Slash. The crap they spewed for years while Axl stayed silent has been ridiculous. Why should have Axl gone when it was clear they hadn't changed their views. You only have to hear Adlers rant a few weeks back to see what they really felt. The silence of the other band members was also very telling.

Axl has remained silent?!? Now that is revisionist thinking. I love old and new and I'm not here to bash Axl, but he has done his share of badmouthing too.

  4. Duff, Slash, and Steven should get some slack for not taking any questions. You guys don't care about Axl not going, but won't stand in front of the media?? Come on...

They are dictated by hof . They don't want questions backfiring on their event.

Then they should have asked Axl what e wanted to do first, since he is still in the band. Knowing the problems of GNR, doing thisgives credence to what Eddie Trunk said about the HOF. They just wanted the reunion tour to start at the HOF. Axl knew this, and left them holding the Slash bag.

Eddie Trunk doesn't even think GNR belonged since his precious Kiss and others aren't in the HOF. Don't get me wrong, I also feel Kiss belongs, but he becomes a whiney bitch whenever the HOF comes up. Just saying...

  5. Seeing a huge rockstar like Flea go up there, and be so modest, humble and grateful.

Just makes Axl seem like an ungrateful diva IMO

    LA

Just stop already. The shit is done and over. It was an honor that was bestowed upon Axl, and it was his decision not to take it. That's fine, it's his decision, the end. Doesn't affect you or me, just stop.

I have to cry bullshit on this one. He has every right as a fan to voice his opinion.

I agree, yes, but he's done nothing but trash Axl, which is pointless. Axl's decision to not go has fuck all to do with anything about the fans like he's been claiming. If you win the lottery, but decide not to take the winnings because maybe you're afraid of all the shit it will bring into your life, the crazies, the lawsuits, the beggars and hanger ons, does it make you ungrateful? No. It's just a decision you made for yourself.

Let me know if you win the lottery. I'll be happy to carry that burden for you. :rofl-lol:

The only part of this I disagree with is the "everyone" comment. It's not everyone, just the loons who think Axl is going to read their post and want them to be his new BFF. You know, because you can't like old and new GNR. Bad joke about the "everyone' line aside, great post.

  8. So Chris Rock mentions Axl Rose during the RHCP? Props to him for doing something none of the Old GNR could do.

Funny joke tho... "even if Axl would have come, he still wouldn't be here on time"

I wonder if there could be trouble because of this.

Yes, Axl isn't going to tour with Chris Rock.

  9. Man, listen to that insane scream. INSANE. That's how it should have sounded. Myles will never do that song justice. NEVER. He's got the range, but lacks the vocal power and probably Axl's range as well.

No one said he sings Axl's material better than Axl. If I missed it and they did, then they're batshit crazy. This is ridiculous. Give the guy some credit for getting up there and doing what Axl chose not to do. You won't lose your Axl fanboy card for simply giving the guy credit for stepping up and doing a solid job in a high pressure situation.

  10. I'm beginning to think Axl Rose could go on a murderous rampage at an orphanage and some people in here would defend his actions. Damn. He's my favorite entertainer of all time, but I'm shaking my head at some of the blind loyalists. Call me crazy, but I don't think he's going to read your rah rah Axl posts and decide that you are his new best friend.

  11. If this guy dislikes the radio stations so much, then why doesn't he put his fucking money where his mouth is and buy one? I was annoyed by GNR being cut off. Now I'm just getting annoyed by Chuck D preaching. And that's coming from someone who hates what radio has become. Preaching to a roomful of media members isn't going to accomplish shit.

  12. Myles sucks singing GNR tunes, simply put. He's like a cat screaming when singing high. Axl's voice is light years better. Oh, and Slash fucked up the 2nd solo

Played the main solo nicely though

Well, no shit Axl is better, especially when it comes to singing his own songs. Cut the guy some slack. Damn.

  13. Hey, guys, make sure you put our stupid fucking graphic up for the GNR induction just in case people who have been watching for hours forgot what this is. Oh, and Green Day still sucks no matter how much they praise GNR. Little cupcakes.

  14. Has HBO ever offered an explanation for not broadcasting live? I hope it's not because they clean up the live performances or chop up the ceremony to fit in a certain time frame. I liked the movie Horrible Bosses, but I think the world could have waited a week for the HBO premiere, and I know the world could have waited for a boxing 24/7 piece and the Game of Thrones rerun.

  15. This is a ridiculously unpopular move with rock fans. Just look at how polarizing it is in this thread alone (based on several pages, though not all). This board is filled with plenty of Axl blind loyalists who would praise any move he makes in life. I'm not suggesting that everyone who feels he's making the right call is a blind loyalist, but rather pointing out the obvious about some posters. The point is that if it's polarizing on this board and you remove the blind loyalists from the equation, you'll get a decent representation of what the rock fans think. It's not pretty.

I hoped the originals would put their differences aside and at least accept together. I didn't expect a big Axl and Slash hug let alone a reunion tour, but a simple moment with the originals together would have been classy. For that matter, it would have been cool if the current lineup had been onstage with the past lineup even if they weren't being inducted. I'm not telling Axl to fuck off. I'm not saying I won't support GNR going forward. I am simply saying that I am disappointed by this decision. Yes, I know he's free to do whatever he wants to do, just as I am free to express my disappointment.

  16. "needles and knives" implies that maybe he is having surgery on his injury?

And can you recover from back surgery in 2 months?

Not sure if this has been addressed, but yes, depending on the type of surgery. I've had a back surgery and felt a million times better as soon as I woke up. I was restricted in terms of what I could do and lift for six weeks and then it was business as usual with no restrictions.
