  1. I just listened to his interview with Eddie Trunk. This guy is totally wrong for this position. He's a defensive asshole. A guy in his position should be respectful and carry himself with a certain sense of dignity. Factor in Slash's claim that he never RSVP'd after this guy claims he spoke with everyone (or members of their camp) and he's a complete ass. I suppose it's possible that someone from Slash's management spoke on his behalf (and he did say he would be there on That Metal Show), but I just don't care for the way this guy is going about his business. It feels like we're this close to seeing the original lineup appear together if for only one night, and now this self important jerk off is going to mess it up.

  2. I am fine with limiting the number of actual inductees since I see this honor being more about the classic lineup than the present, but I had no idea he made that remark about the current band members. Really? If so, fuck him. Seriously, what a ridiculous statement. Get off your fucking high horse. What an asshole. The HOF should be about the bands and the music, not this d-bag.

  3. Nope. I liked the first Sixx AM CD and I don't understand why so many people have shit all over him. Okay, you don't like the way he dresses. Personally, I wasn't crazy about seeing a guy with a KFC bucket on his head, but I'm much more concerned about the music and the stage show. It remains to be seen what DJ will contribute to GNR in the recording studio, but I love the energy he brings to the live performances. No complaints.

    Rant

    39. Loved the original, digging the current lineup. Of course, I'd love to see a reunion, but I would also be happy to hear new music from this lineup. I will admit that I spent years anxiously awaiting Chinese Democracy while still hoping for a reunion once it was released. I've also gone to Duff and Steven solo shows (always miss the Slash shows due to one conflict or another), and saw Velvet Revolver right around the time of their initial release. Basically, I dig all things GNR past and present.

  4. I highly recommend checking out Steel Panther if you're ever in Vegas on a Friday night (or wherever else they are playing these days). I actually changed flights to see the band and had a great time. Their show is over the top fun and musically strong. I was hoping they'd play more of their own material, but they played the most notable tracks and then worked in a lot of fun covers. I don't think anyone who went to the show I attended had a bad time. Everyone was laughing, rocking, and having a blast.

  5. I bet the surprise in LA is something stupid like Nikki Sixx onstage, and him and Ashba doing a Shit AM song

Hopefully he brings Vince Neil then cause he and Axl are such good friends.

Axl could have taken him 20 years ago and he can take him now.

    Of course.

Are we talking about a singing contest?

Fist fight, singing contest - Axl will win both

Fist fight, not sure singing, no contest. Take a look on youtube, Vince Is awful live.

I've seen Mötley Crüe live twice. Vince easily gets outta breath and so he often don't sing all the words and relies heavily on the others backup singing. All in all it's a good rock n roll show but Vince was the person I cared the least about when seeing Mötley. He lacks presence, passion and attitude. Axl on his worst day is better than Vince on his best day (if he still has good days)

Vince is my least favorite member of Motley Crue. Sixx and Lee go balls to the wall, and it's amazing that Mick is even able to perform given some of his health issues over the years. Vince's solo act was lousy even though he had a good band with him. He just went through the motions. In fact, I enjoyed the Motley show with John Corabi singing way more than seeing Vince live. I know that version of Crue is a laughing stock to many, but I liked Corabi's voice and they put on a hell of a show in a small venue. In fact, I believe it's still my younger brother's favorite live show to date. I wouldn't go that far, but we had a great time.

I was lucky and caught a pair of good Crue shows. I'd heard some horror stories about Vince (more on that momentarily), but the effort was there at least by his standards at the shows I attended. However, a friend of mine who sees just about every rock concert that comes to town has sworn that he will never see anything involving Vince again. Crue played an outdoor show that he attended one summer. My friend was so pumped to see the show, but I've never heard him so turned off by a concert once it was over. He and his girlfriend said Vince was so obnoxiously drunk that he forgot words constantly and they had to turn his mic off in between songs because he was so incoherent. I'm all for a wild rock moment here and there, but my buddy said it was the least professional thing he's ever seen. Even with the good shows I saw, Vince just struck me as being a lazy singer and performer. It's a shame given the effort that the rest of the band puts in. If we're comparing the two, Axl blows Vince away in terms of skill, range, effort, showmanship, etc. It's not even close.

  6. Wow! I assumed this was coming and I know they played together in London. Still, I got chills seeing Axl and Duff onstage together again. This tour has been so awesome. Remember when some were saying it was all over after the Rock in Rio show? Despite the rough start, this has been the best GNR tour since UYI in my opinion. Axl is on top of his game, I love the current band lineup, and now Duff. I don't care if the L.A. surprises turn out to be total letdowns, this has been a tremendous tour and I'm enjoying every second of it. Granted, I've only been to one show, but with the Rock in Rio live feed, the Ustream airing from St. Louis, and watching video footage from the various shows, this has been such a treat. I just hope that it doesn't end at the end of the year or at the HOF. Here's hoping for new music from this lineup, a reunion with the old members, or anything that keeps the momentum going. I love it!

  7. I would think the newer members would feel very awkward going up there to accept the award. I think it would be very cool if old and new got together and jammed on something. Honestly, though, if it requires the current lineup getting up there with Axl to get him there with the old lineup, then I am just fine with that.

  8. Old at heart, but I'm only 28 (next year). Haha.

20 years of following the greatest Rock band in the world.

Perhaps I would feel old if I didn't see Axl running all over the stage like a 20-something when I saw him in concert last month. Likewise, Steven Adler played a really fun show with his band. And Duff looks better today than he did back in the day. Call me crazy, but just seeing how good the original guys look and seeing them still relevant today makes me feel okay. Granted, I probably look older than all of them, but it's cool that my 19 year-old niece loves GNR, so it's not like I have to hear "who?" when I bring them up.

  9. Is there anywere i can get one for a Christmas gift? I was at the Chicago show and got one and my son really wants one now..

No idea if they have them, but I would give Hot Topic a shot since I haven't seen anything online yet as far as official GNR outlets. Yes, it pains me to encourage someone to visit Hot Topic.

  10. "I just hope Axl shows up" was what Steven Adler told me when I gave him an early congratulations after one of his shows. He was being sincere, not snarky. I also gave an early congrats to Duff when I met him at a book signing that same weekend. The HOF is a political mess, but the important thing is that GNR got in on the first ballot, just as they deserve to. Congrats to each and every member who played a part in that.

I share in Steven's hope that Axl appears along with the rest of the original members. I don't care if it doesn't lead to a reunion, I would just like to see Axl and the original crew (along with past and present members) get together and share the honor they have earned. Obviously, this would be the perfect platform to launch a reunion. If it happens, awesome. If not, so be it. I just want to see them put any differences aside for one night and be proud of what they've achieved. In the book, Duff made it seem like they never really acknowledged their success when they were together, so this would be a great time for them to take a night out and do just that.

Forgive me if this has already been brought up in the long thread, but I wonder if Izzy will appear. He's not big on the spotlight, but I hope this is enough of a special event that he opts to be part of it.

  11. Obviously, there are exceptions, but generally it is poor ticket sales that lead to random cancellations with touring events regardless of what is put out there publicly. I can only speak for the promotion in the Twin Cities area where I live. The local rock station 93X was all over it. They had ticket giveaways with GNR inspired contests, and played a lot of the classic material. They created strong buzz for the show and it looked like the walkup sales were solid as a result. There was much better promotion for this show than there was the last time GNR came through town.

I don't know how much the late start times would have to do with cancellations. After all, the promoters and arenas know what they're getting when they book a band with GNR's reputation, so I'd be surprised if that was the cause.

  12. I'm well aware of the "concert rule" that inspired the thread. I have no idea where it started, but I have friends who are sure to enforce it by snickering at anyone who ignores it. Honestly, who cares? Two of these friends tried to give me a hard time for buying a GNR shirt and putting it on at the show. I didn't know the anal retentive concert goers had added this rule to the mix. I was quick to point out that the two "concert rule" enforcers were both wearing Tesla shirts. To each his own when it comes to that band, but the idea of two guys being so uptight about who was wearing GNR shirts at the GNR show while looking like the Tesla Twins struck me as hilarious. It shut them up quickly, and I even put my second GNR shirt over the first one later in the show just to fuck with them.

  13. Seems to be some hype around it. I know when they performed in 2001 at Vegas they were a hit.

It's not a huge venue and it's not being broadcast anywhere (to be the best of my knowledge). I'm sure GNR will be fired up for New Year's Eve and all, but I think that's probably the extent of it being important. It could be a special show if they play some new material or play even longer than usual, but I don't know that it's all that important. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how I see it.

  14. I hope and believe we will get new music released sooner rather than later. Just for the sake of argument, let's say that doesn't happen. Axl can continue to tour as long as the public has a desire to hear the classics. People pay good money to hear Roger Waters do the Pink Floyd material after all these years. Neil Diamond is still touring off his old music. Granted, I've heard he plays a lot of his current stuff, which the fans yawn through. It's not exactly the same genre, but these are just a couple of examples that popped into my head that show there is an audience for classic hits.

Granted, GNR doesn't seem like a red hot ticket in the United States (though it seems like attendance is up in several cities compared to the last tour), but the band continues to play to some huge crowds in South America. I'm sure they could take the trip over to the UK and do great business as well. As much as I hope we hear new music, I have no doubt that Axl can continue to make great money touring without new music as long as he picks and chooses the right times to tour and doesn't do it so frequently that it no longer feels special.

  15. LOL That guy heckling Axl around 3:18 was hilarious on that KOHD video.

Does anyone else think they drag knockin on like 4 mins too long?

    :shrugs:

Yes. Then again, I never cared for the CD version. I fell in love with the live version from The Ritz. The CD version is overproduced and never matched the live version for me. The way they play it live now reminds me more of the CD than the Ritz for some reason, and it just kind of goes on and on. This would have been the one song I would have eliminated from the set in Minneapolis, and I would have replaced it with Civil War, IRS, My Michelle, or TWAT. That said, I think the masses would be really disappointed if they didn't play it, so I understand why it's on the set list.

  16. I wish to God Axl would do a sit down with Kurt Loder. He's been the fairest person in the media for all of Axl's career, and they always seemed to have a kinship. Make it happen, Axl!!

I agree. The TMS interview was fine for what it was. Those guys may ask the tough questions, but they'll accept whatever the answer is and move on. That's their approach and I'm fine with it since I know what I'm getting going in. Loder is a true journalist who would push back a little. For instance, he wouldn't have accepted Axl's all over the place answer about the late starting times without following up. Of course, he couldn't make Axl give him a better answer, but he would at least push for it.

  17. I didn't dislike the 2002 lineup, but this band is very tight right now. DJ really adds to the stage performance with the way he runs around and plays to the crowd. I definitely prefer this lineup. As much as I've held out hope for a reunion of the original lineup over the years, I am satisfied with what we're seeing and I would be thrilled to see this lineup record together.

  18. None in Minneapolis. Someone threw something that landed near him early on, he had minor tech issues at one point, and Ricard and DJ had problems with an idiot fan. Axl stayed cool through all of it and delivered one hell of a show.

  19. This was my sixth time seeing a version of Guns, and this was easily the best show I've seen since Axl's split with Duff and Slash, if not ever. The band was great, and I overheard several people raving about how good Axl's voice sounded. Axl seemed stress free. He seems like he's relaxed and having more fun than he did at any of the shows I've seen in the past. There were a couple of moments with idiot fans and technical difficulties that may have set off the old Axl. This Axl seemed to take it all in stride. I'm having a hard time putting it into words, but I feel like Axl has transitioned from angry rocker to content and confident entertainer/showman. I mean that as a positive even though I've loved the angry Axl moments over the years. LOL.

The set list was fantastic. It was such a treat to hear Estranged live again, and I freaked when they played Shackler's Revenge since it hasn't made all of the set lists. I really wish Axl would bring back Civil War and TWAT, but I won't complain about a nearly three-hour show filled with great song after great song. I enjoyed the solos, particularly DJ's. He's really breathed some new life into the stage show. He runs all over and plays to the crowd throughout the show. I really hope this lineup sticks and ultimately records together.

Don't let Rock in Rio throw you off. I enjoyed that gig more than most, but Axl and the boys have come a long way since that show. A truly memorable night.

  20. I dig Eddie Trunk and the TMS crew. Trunk is a diehard metal/rock fan first and foremost. He treats the artists with respect. He doesn't avoid controversial topics, nor does he go overboard in followup questions if the artist clearly doesn't want to go there. He basically lets the artist say what they have to say and moves on. There are times when I wish he'd be a little tougher in that regard, but at least he asks the tough questions. He clearly takes what he does very seriously and I think he's bracing his viewers not to expect him at his best when it comes to this interview due to the time issue.
