  1. I hope the whole thing bombs.

your posts are becoming very boring. this reunion is the best thing in the last 20 years.

its just 10 years too late for that...they could have rule the world back then....

It all depends on Axl.. If he comes out looking and sounding like he did the last few years, forget it. But maybe he is getting in shape and going to come out sounding good. I just started watching vids from 2010 and he sounded pretty good then.
Axl looked and sounded great last year! He will be awesome when we see him perform again regardless. If who is up there on the stage with him.
  2. Yeah I know its an old pic.........but this could only mean one thing.......

That is a really nice pic of Beta!
    Why?

90% of the posters on here are saying a reunion is happening.

Eddie knew the wheels were in motion before we did, because of his contacts within the music industry.

I don't know why people are jealous of his position in the music world

He may know some people in the music industry but I think he likes to put out that he is in the know to make himself feel like he is more powerful than he is. Just my .02

It is all a load of garbage. People, we should all be feigning boredom now. This band deserves our boredom and general lack of interest.

DD if you truly feel this way and you want the whole thing to bomb, why do you spend so much time on a GNR forum? I am not trying to start an argument. I am just sincerely curious.

70% of my posts have nothing to do with guns n' roses. Look yourself. Expert analyse on cricket awaits you.

Fair enough. Don't know much about cricket.

  4. For Axl the reunion will be it for him. I don't think his voice has held up as well as he'd like and honestly the guy hasn't been interested in creating music in over a decade.

Slash will be playing until he dies and Duff will keep making small projects and guest appearances.

I think it's the right way to go out for Axl. Maybe part of the reason he's not creating music anymore is he doesn't trust his vocals.

Any facts to back up those statements about Axl?

  5. If Del was best buddies with Slash at the moment and not Axl, then Annie would have a different story to tell.....

There may be some truth to that statement in that I would not have met Del if I was at a Slash show vs a GNR show. BUt I loved his book and I love the November Rain video.

So you just confirmed that you are a biased person, I doubt you would even go to a Slash show.

I am not particularly interested in attending a Slash show. I am not biased, I would love his work regardless and that is the truth. I just would not have met him if he were not part of the GNR camp. I really like meeting artists whose work I admire. George RR Martin is on my bucket list. Love me some Game of Thrones!

You yourself is confused, on one hand you say you like to meet the artist whose work you admire, then you say you would not have met him if he was not a part of the GNR camp? What has an Artist of your liking got to do with GNR or Slash or Elmo?

I bet for you Fernando would be the best managers in the music industry.

What I meant was that I only had the opportunity to meet Del was because I saw him in the elevator of the Hard Rock Hotel. He remembered me from a previous encounter as was nice enough to talk to me . I love meeting artists but the oppurtunities don't always present themselves. That's why I like going to cons and Broadway shows, you have a much greater chance of meeting an actor or writer that you like.

  8. I am not an idiot. I have read the books I mentioned and I have seen the movies. I thought I made my point clear that Del has STORY talent. He wrote stories about the lower classes just like Dickens. He wrote about the dark side of life like Dickens. He wrote about drug abuse and sexual perversity. I like his work. That does make me an idiot. I could write an entire dissertation for a PHD and that would not satisfy Len!

I don't care if you don't think I read the books. I know that I did.

And right now I am a little more concerned about the protests and potential riots right around the corner from where I work. I hope we can all get home safely tonight.

  9. It's kinda sad that Axl would be the weakest link in any reunion tour. Great for a new album, less excited on the performance front

    LA

I'm sorry, but that is so not true.

That was a really moving letter that I am sure provided great comfort to the families of the people who were executed.

    That's sarcasm, right?

No. Having withdrawn life support on critically ill children has taught me a great deal about what provides comfort to grieving families. Kind words and thoughtfulness are greatly appreciated and healing when you are experiencing extreme grief.

    Nutjob

    Whatever.

That was a really moving letter that I am sure provided great comfort to the families of the people who were executed.

    That's sarcasm, right?

I wouldn't bet on that. She thinks Del James and Axl Rose are on the same pedestal as Charles Dickens and Ludwig Van Beethoven!

Great art even the darkest art makes you glad to be alive. I hate to quote Jerry Heller but it's true.

Del James is not even sub Stephen King. He is sub sub Stephen King. And I am not really a big fan of King but to say Del is not fit to lick King's bog brush probably puts it into perspective on how much I think of Del. Del is so shite he didn't even write another book. His first book bombed (despite the Guns endorsement) and he just gave up and become an official arse licker.

And then when you chuck in Dickens' name it is clear you need to be incarcerated.

That is so not true. But you are entitled to your opinion.

  10. And darling, all i asked you for was an explanation of what you make of them, some sort of assessment of them as works of literature...and all you can come up with is stuff you could get off of a two line synopsis. And the reason for that is you haven't read them, have you? You just throw Dickens out there cuz it's big name and you're having a hot flush over Del James because he has something to do with an old fat ginger rockstar that you fancy

I have read them. I don't feel like writing a book report. I liked Del for himself. I thought WITHOUT YOU was a great story. And getting a chance to chat with him gave me the confidence to go to the stage door of a Broadway theater to personally hand Michael C Hall my totally awesome DEXTER fan fiction. I remember telling Del that if I didn't think it was good I wouldn't be flying all the way to NYC to hand it to him. and yes, I did start watching DEXTER cuz Axl Rose is/was a fan. And next week when I go see Michael in David Bowies new musical LAZARUS I am going to go to the stage door again and ask Michael if he liked it!

No one asked you for a book report my dear, just an explanation that reflected some level of understanding or having actually read the book...but then thats a tall order for someone whoose just making shit up i suppose

I am not making shit up, but you can believe what you want to believe.

  12. So tell me about the Dickens you've read?

darling I already told you . I know you like to have the last word so I'm not going to make anymore comments. I love Christmas carol and a Tale of 2 cities. Redemption stories. Dickens exposed the horrors of child abuse in David Copperfield and the plight of those living in poverty.

  13. No, I'm not trying to say anything, i am flat out stating that you're a liar

No a visionary. Hey Chicago is the site for major protests and possible riots today from that horrific cover up of a white police officer shooting a black unarmed teenager 16 times. And yesterday somewhere in da hood was a homie telling his family how a skinny white girl came running up to him for help while he was watching the movie CREED. I was also riding home with someone on the CTA who was very close with the young shooting victims family. I offered my condolences which are not nearly enough but she still appreciated it.

  14. I refuse to believe Annie is being serious.

Very serious. I took a totally awesome screenwriting class with the great Bob McKee. he talked about the difference between STORY talent and literary talent. he said literary talent is failry common but that story talent is rare. maybe Del is not quite the same caliber of literary talent as Dickens but he certainly had story talent when it came to the Sunset strip in the 80's. And some of his stories really would make a great episode of SUPERNATURAL.They always weave rock and roll music into their stories. One episode Sam said to dean, "Is everything a Bob Seeger song to you?" Dean said yes. Guess it's the same with a diehard GNR fan.

Thank you, great story...have you ever read any Dickens though?

Yes. A Christmas Carol, A Tale of two Cities, David Copperfield, And Great Expectations. I have seen a lot of BBC productions as well. I love modern interpretations of his work as well. Remember the Bill Murray movie SGROOGED? There is this rap group called the Q Brothers that put on this super cool hip hop versions of A Christmas carol and Othello at the Chicago Shakespeare theater that are mind blowing modern interpretations.

Whats your understanding of Great Expectations, what do you make of it, what do you think it's about, where is value to it, in your opinion?

The past can be a prison if we let it be that way. Miss Havisahm is the epitome of bitterness. And Dickens was forced to change the ending due to Victorian sentimentality. In the original ending Estelle was supposed to have remarried somebody else but in the ending we all read she ends up with Pip.

  15. Thank you, great story...have you ever read any Dickens though?

She comes across like a teenage school girl. That is the best way I can put it: a teenage school girl. I think she even mentioned liking Twilight.

More like Elle Woods. She wore a lot of pink, but she did graduate from Harvard Law School. I graduated from University of Michigan.

  16. Actually I had a stalker who was very similar to a guy Del wrote about in one of his stories totally harass me at the matinee of CREED on Wednesday. When the movie was 3/4 of the way through he actually had the nerve to come sit next to me. I got up and was going to run out of the theater but fortunately a really nice homie was sitting at the end of the row and I asked if I could sit next to him for protection. So yeah art imitates life.

  17. The thing about opinions is that, when unsubstantiated, they are entirely worthless. Ergo, your or my opinion or emotional responses to a given thing, in a sober rational conversation where literature or the arts are being discussed, are completely worthless unless substantiated by an understanding of the topic at hand.

But no, apparently, in the eyes of a Guns n Roses fan, Axl Rose and Del James meeting is the modern day equivalent of Beethoven and Charles Dickens meeting to engage in creative work

I know it is not your intention, but you just keep making my day !

  18. Well I have his book in paperback - it lies on my shelf and I keep meaning to throw it in the bin - and I found it barely readable. It consists of a mix of schlock horror short stories and drug addict vignettes. The writing is excruciatingly painful. To compare it to the Victorian age's greatest novelist (among other things, e.g. journalism and philanthropy) is an even bigger insult than comparing W. Axl Rose to Ludwig Van Beethoven!

I have one memory of the Language of Fear in which Del James describes a piece of the female anatomy as like 'salami'! That is how puerile it is!

    And Dickens,

Along the Paris streets, the death-carts rumble, hollow and harsh. Six tumbrels carry the day’s wine to La Guillotine. All the devouring and insatiate Monsters imagined since imagination could record itself, are fused in one realization, Guillotine. And yet there is not in France, with its rich variety of soil and climate, a blade, a leaf, a root, a sprig, a peppercorn, which will grow to maturity under conditions more certain than those that have produced this horror. Crush humanity out of shape once more, under similar hammers, and it will twist itself into the same tortured forms. Sow the same seed of rapacious license and oppression over again, and it will surely yield the same fruit according to its kind.

    Now that, is genius.

Yes it is, but so Is Del. November Rain is the greatest rock video ever made which was the embodiment of the vision of his original story, WITHOUT YOU. Poetry in motion so to speak.

This can't be a sincere post.

    why not?

  19. That was a really moving letter that I am sure provided great comfort to the families of the people who were executed.
